Make a folder's name "GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}" and it lets you view all the system settings options inside so you can customize it all.

The only thing that matters is the '.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}', you can call it whatever you like…

Pretty cool. Basically the library of the settings you can change, which you access through control panel property boxes etc.

Yeah but stuffed in to one folder so you don't have to go searching through the entire CP :p

I was going to post about this yesterday but I forgot. Works on vista too, although there's a chance it can cause some trouble on it.. Cool anyway.

So why use this if you have regedit?

Most people prefer a tidy GUI rather then the messy regedit.

Too bad the GUI will never be as powerful.

Too bad regedit will never be as easy (and relatively safe) to use.

Yes, I do agree with that. I more of a linux (Ubuntu) user and do alot of stuff at the terminal. The terminal is actually way easier and faster then the GUI when it comes to linux.

Example installing vlc media player:

Terminal:
sudo apt-get install vlc

GUI:
Open browser, go to google, google for vlc, download it, wait for download, install it.

I kinda drifted away from the point but anyway…

Well, you can just use the GUI for the package manager to install VLC. No point in going to their site. :)
This way you will also get recent updates and an uninstaller.

I tried it on my vista… Was a bad idea, now windows explorer messages keep coming up one saying it stopped working another saying it's restartinG so I gotta get rid of that folder to fix my computer now. I can't do anything with windows explorer restarting every five seconds

Agreed.

Why do you think it was discovered in Win 7… Don't use it with vista as it can cause troubles!

So if I change the name of a folder on my filesystem, I can get errors? How amusing… ;)

you DO know that error is from having too small of a disk right? I.E. *you* probably gave ubuntu too little room on it's partition. (PEBCAK)

And to add that not booting is not the same as overwriting GRUB with garbage. IAW, flawed attempt.

On topic now?

ok ontopic, I tried boting my vista from safemode with command prompt, tried deleting the god mode folder (but with a different name) a few different ways. I can't login normally to my computer because the desktop keeps flahsing because of windows explorer constantly restarting from not working. How can I delete it? Two out of two friends said boot from a Linux live CD, I think, and said just delete it that way, I don't have one at the moment, is there any other way?

What do you not understand about PEBCAK? If you override the Windows Boot Manager, then it will not boot either. You screwed it up. (And the fix is even easier, takes about 1 minute)

What is PEBCAK ? :S

1 minute tell me all about it :).

If its :

sudo grub
root (hd0,1)
setup (hd0)
quit
exit

That doesn't work.

Or grub-install. Something like that will work, if you put the right parameters.
