How is it microsoft's fault… I had to throw away my 1.5 years old laptop when I installed ubuntu on it :
"Do you want to change your power management settings ?"
Yes.
CRASH ?
*Starts up* Wtf no os's on this computer ?
Yes, it deleted my whole system. Kthx ubunub.
wth? did you serously trash a laptop because you got a GRUB error..?
all you have to do is change the MBR and your entire system would be back… nothing deleted (except maybe ubuntu)
boot to a live CD and do:
sudo grub
root (hd0,0)
setup (hd0)
quit
(i don't know what your disk layout is, but hd0,0 is likely your windows partition (maybe 0,1 or 0,2 if you have OEM backup partitions))
really… 3 commands and your computer is back up and running again.. i can't believe you would throw away a computer over something like that… and probably without googling or asking for help either… (i know you didn't ask on IRC..)
