I thought it was the best movie I've ever seen, without a doubt.

Your thoughts?

Haven't seen it yet, but I'm planning on it.

All I know is that the local newspaper rated it 3.5 stars out of 5. And considering that they almost never rate anything over a 2, that's saying something.

OH MY GOSH!!
By far the most graphically stimulating movie I have EVER seen!!! - James Cameron win… There were times during the film that I was like, "wait, is that a new color???"… graphic to sound to story was phenomenal!! I am proud to say that I had a headache after watching that film… I very much enjoyed it.

I liked to trailer but I didn't like the cheap font type in the end of the trailer. It looked like it was made with powerpoint :D

I came home thinking it must have been based on a novel… only to be disappointed that James Cameron wrote the screenplay. Oh well, its a great movie, although alien sex is weird…

I did, did you?
I liked it. It wasn't like kid movies where things leaped off the screen at your face, but there was more depth, it seemed.

Best movie? Definitely not.

The quality of animation was top notch, damn near everything that was animated looked real.

Story was *cough cough dances with wolves cough* alright. I knew that colonel Quaritch would be the main antagonist as soon as he gets in a mech. And they turned it into a King K. Rool fight straight out of Donkey Kong Country! Only with more violence. Not saying that part was bad, but it feels like they designed that part that way for the Avatar video game.

Soundtrack was alright, story wasn't rushed (obviously lol.) In my opinion, the animation was the only thing that made this movie stand out. It wasn't the best, but it's worth a watch.

Someone (after seeing 2D only) told me that I should see 2D first, then 3D, as 3D 'would be a lot to take in'. Would anyone that has seen 3D or both agree with him?

I went last night to see the 3D one. My friends and I all got really high beforehand. I think that could have been the greatest experience of my life. I was awestruck. If I had any pee in my bladder at the time, I most likely would have wet my pants.

Do you mean the CGI animation? or the people, because that was not animation.

Yea, it might be a good idea to see it in 2D and then see it in 3D… it will be amazing both times. Alien sex was kind of weird, I agree. Worth/needed the whole 3 hours.

If you only have one chance to see it, then I would suggest watching it in 3D, just to get the full effect. It will come out on dvd and can be watched in 2D then.

Watched it 3D at an IMAX theater.

Amazing, I suggest to only watch it in 3D hah, I'm not one to get into movies but that made it pretty enjoyable.

I've also seen the IMAX 3D version. I don't think it'll be as good when you see it in 2d on a small screen. In my opinion this movie is really worth a visit to the cinema.

I just saw it in 3d.

The movie is fantastic, wow. The glasses, however, make it ugly. There is no light and the colors are bad.

Another thought….

Avatar lacks a truly original plot line; it was also very predictable. Yes there were unique aspects to the story, however the underlying message and relative story has been shown/seen many times before. This is definitely not to say that it was not a good movie to watch.

The new age graphic quality and visual enhancements of Avatar brings cinema/theater entertainment to a whole new level. As such, we can expect to see more of this type/quality of film in the future. To me, the effects alone was worth going to see the movie. I was able to look past the less than new/thrilling story line.

All being said and done I would suggest taking a trip to a cinema and watching this great film. Given the chance, make sure you watch it in 3D. It will always be available in 2D later.

My thoughts exactly, although it was a good movie(not going to say it was so much as great) it really lacked an original plot line. Which i found a little upsetting but all in all it was an okay movie.

Did anyone else pick up the war in iraq reference? The whole plot is about starting a war to rob a nation's (or tribe as this might be) mineral resources…

Apparently the looting of nations wasn't thought of somewhere in 2002, rather is much older. Awesome find Nielsie!
