Function List

I propose a function list that, unlike SCAR, includes all functions and procedures available for use (including user defined ones).

Here is a quick mock up of what I mean:

The user will be able to drag the procedures/functions (and possibly variables?) into the script. For example, dragging GetColor into the script will produce "GetColor(x, y)" or something similar in the script. A search function would be great also. It would allow the scripter to quickly find what he is looking for without consulting the manual.

My example is admittedly a bit ugly, and could be tidied up if included in Mufasa. Maybe just have the name of the functions/procedures and show details (function/procedure and parameters) via a hint, or something similar.

Great idea…basically embedded documentation thats easy to see while you script. In the bottom left hand corner of your mockup, maybe have a text box that has a short description of each function that shows and changes when you select a function?

I recon the left side will be quite full, so it'd probably be better on the bottom right ;)

Lol true. Then again the bottom right would be full of code too if its a proper script

And make the root like this:
* Root ->
———— Current Tab (Script?) ->
———— ———— ———— -> WhatAWonderfulWorld;

———— Internal Functions ->
———— ———— ———— FindColor

You could also have a description of the function beneath the list (so List–Description(at select)–Search). Also, a list of functions for the includes would be nice too. And, why only show functions? You can show variables/params/defines too.

I was hoping that it would be dockable, but Wizzup told me that docking in Lazarus is not very stable… So, would it be better to have it integrated into the main form, or make it a separate window?

Built in Russian-roulette would be cool. 1 in 6 chance the function list crashes every time you use it?

You mean like SCAR except better odds?

I'm not sure if this counts as the not-stable docking that you're talking about but can we have it snap to the side of the form and have it be dragged around with the form? I know ImgBurn does this (Windows) but I can't think of any other examples.

What you can do with SCAR's function list is docking.

Your video is not docking. :)

I completely didn't know you could take that out. But then again, I always had that hidden since it was in my way. We should do docking+snapping then :)
