Hey guys, I've taken a bit of an interest in e-books lately (might have had something to do with the coursework on them i had to do) and I found this free e-books website.
They only allow 5 free downloads a month. I wasn't satisfied with this.
Therefore I skimmed around their source to see how to get to my dear books…
Basically, follow all instructions normally until you reach an e-book you desire. Once there, your url will look somewhat like this:
http://www.free-ebooks.net/ebook/The-Taming-of-Adam-Part-2--The-Hunter--s-Sign/pdf/viewor this:
http://www.free-ebooks.net/ebook/The-Taming-of-Adam-Part-2--The-Hunter--s-Sign/htmlAll you simply have to do to get the e-book is play around a little with the URL.
on the one that ends with /pfd
/view just remove the /view part.
on the
/html one just replace 'html' with 'pdf'.
Here is the website:
http://www.free-ebooks.netI'm basically downloading the top 5 of each section.
Enjoy :)

Depends at how you look at them :p
They're not bestsellers, but some of them are quite interesting :)
And useful as well. I used some of them for my uni stuff.

There is a website that will take any chunk of text and convert it to a wav file using Microsoft Sam voice in narrator (or whatever you choose) they have a data base of text formatted books, math lessons ect.. besides going insane listening to a monotone semi-rertated sounded computer, it's alright. I can't seem to find it though.

Does anyone have any collections of ebooks they would like to share? I just found a nice program for my droid that allows me to read books basically like a kindle. It's very intuitive and nice to use :)
I have a decent collection, 1.5k or so, which I am willing to share, since they aren't that large of a file size.

What format do they need to be in? I have about 10k pdf's I'm willing to share. I don't think they'll all fit on your droid though, they total 116gbs :D

10k pdfs = 116gb????
Jesus are they like uber high res all images or something?
For my droid they need to be in .epub which I downloaded a convertor, can't remember the name, starts with a c though.
Uhh you should totally tree or dir that folder and send me a list though. Or if you have like an uber seed box you should up them all :0 :P
I willl get a list of my st00f tomorrow, on droid about to go to sleep.
Nighty night.

I 7z'd the lists and uploaded. Note that the file is a 7z file, but I had to rename it to RAR because of the tiny 7z file size limit.
I made lists of PDF, TXT, CHM, and MOBI files. I tried to cut as much of the junk (readme.txt, etc) out of the .TXT listings. Sorry if I missed a bit, there were a lot of files.
The list names are in this format:
[arbitrary name] + file format
Ignore the arbitrary names - they correspond to the particular drive on which the file resides and do not correlate in any way to the actual content.
In addition, I have a Civilian Defense Force mirror, a RogueSci (+ 'controversial chem lab') mirror, and a 'mega folder' with all sorts of fun stuff (76 gigs of it; find it on TPB if you want it ;P)
EDIT: Oh, and I unrarred a bunch of new books, so the overall total now comes to about 140 gigs.

Hrm, winrar just handled it without the name change :) Go winrar?
Holy cow. That is a lot of books. I am guessing you just like collecting them and don't read them all right? Although reading them all would apply to your name. :P
Live anywhere near wisconsin? I need a roadtrip. We could share our things. I have about 1tb of music, movies, games.
:P Thanks for posting the lists. I don't have the time to look through them and find things I could want currently though.
Will post back with what I want.
This is SSRL right? Kk, posting lists of mine.
That is a good 3/4 of my stuff. Most of it is just my External 1 drive. I have 3. Two being identical 640's and one being about 120gb. There is quite a bit more, haven't updated in them from what I can remember in about 4 months+
The ebooks though I just did now.

So does 7zip ;)
And no, I definitely don't read them all! I do read quite a bit, though!
And nope, I'm in NJ. SSRL should have a VPN - we could all pool our respective hoards!
I generally keep track of my downloaded files through uTorrent labels, but because the data on my main (1.5tb) external drive goes back a good while before I had uT, there is a lot that isn't nicely organized - hence the ugly dir list.

I just manage to organize everything by folder (Individual folders for music, movies, ebooks, apps, games etc.) seems to work pretty well. The only problem with a VPN is that most peoples upload speeds are only like 100kb/s. Mine is 220kb/s but that is my modem maxed out and I can't do anything else on the webs.
Maybe we could setup a secret part to the SRL server and use it to upload our stuff to and setup a FTP dump(i think it is close to what they call it)
