Graphene Processor: http://technomindz.blogspot.com/2009/03/graphene-processor-chips-to-reach.html

What does SRL think about graphene as a product?

Currently, it is extremely expensive, but this will go down when ways to create it come around.

Imagine.. 1000Ghz processor.. I'm running a blazing fast 2.6GHz computer.. my god..

1 atom thick?????

Hopefully they are putting some kind of slot casing on it when they release it or it will be freaky as hell trying to build your own computer with it.

I doubt it's heaven, as there will always be something better on the horizon.

But for now, it looks good.

Heres another article on the same story http://www.nordichardware.com/news,9025.html…

500-1000 ghz is good when you hear it, but how many functional transistors will that have? Its never mentioned.

They won't really be applicable yet, other parts will not be able to use it! :|

I think that it will also give rise to amazing smartphone capabilities.

Will it ever be applicable? Probably not. This single transistor clocked at a frequency at 500 ghz isn't the future.

What about optical computing? Quantum computing?

quatum computing is the way to go, but in the mean time (since we really wont be able to have a viable way to quantumly computing for a general purpose computer for a while) graphene looks nifty.

Weren't nanotubes supposed to do this as well? NRAM (Nanotube RAM) looks nice as well (as it could replace flash, SDRAM (regular RAM), and hard disks all at once and be faster than them all too).

i thought nanotubes were the big thing for batteries. never heard anything about them with RAM.

And I jizzed, in, my pants.

Some call it premature but I just call it ecstasy.

If memory serves well, running a processor in various good quality machine'y oils for cooling would have allowed overclocking that would probably allow very competitive results, but this may just be my old memory.

You chill the oil with dry ice because it won't freeze, as well.
