super_ might be useful for srl members since he knows a lot about java, c and many other languages. Although he is from moparisthebest and has the typical attitude from there. It doesnt mean he doesnt help people though.

Dunno what he'd bring that would be useful, but he's a pretty cool guy. As long as you don't come off as an idiot and you do ask smart questions, he'll generally give a good answer.

I have asked him to stop his ill tempered behaviour. I am hoping for an answer, but not certain of it. Its just too easy. Certainly for a man of his reputation, there is nothing to gain. This behaviour smells like irl repression/frustration. We have seen this many times before.
It is much more difficult and much more rewarding, to act normal. If he has the knowledge to help us out, then please let him help us out. Be a hero instead of counterproductive. It's too easy to insult young people. He shouldnt be doing this imho.

Because people don't understand that even though his attitude isn't always the greatest he is a very intelligent person from which we can all benefit.

I don't see why there is even a debate over this. He is a very well know user in the cheating communities and has proved himself numerous times. He can only bring benefit to this community and you people see a problem with that?

This is a pretty big wall of text, but I don't think its redundant… I would appreciate it if you would read it, but only if you want to.

Fakawi, I respect you a lot and you've always done good by your community… but this one isn't the greatest of moves.

Yes, working together in the Utopian fantasy is a great goal, but I'm afraid its not looking achievable in this case. This is a scene based around writing smalltime code, for a smalltime game (and I say that with the greatest affection). It's a hobby.

Do we have our "heroes"? Sure, so does every scene from the legitimate players to the PSP hackers. But what makes a hero? Unfortunately, in this scene it apparently comes down to pure technical skills and a "fuck you" attitude. I thought SRL was more than that. I thought a hero was more than that.

I thought a hero was someone who could code well, but who could also take the compliments with grace. A quiet pride, an elegant wisdom, and the skills to back it up. There have been such individuals in this scene, and at the risk of sounding like a suck-up… Fakawi and Wizzup both have demonstrated these traits time and time again. This is why SRL is a rock of a community, relative to the others.

What has always, always separated us from the other communities? Mature leadership. Our "heroes" could usually not only hold down the technical skills like no other, but they did it with class (for the most part). Unpopular decisions were made by the SRL leaders that, at the time were confusing, but inevitably lead to the community's survival. This is why we are still alive, despite our "aging" technology.

I remember watching communities like Fagex, RSBot, etc swap hands, get DDoS'd, get scammed (look at sythe). None of that ever happened to us. Why? I like to think it's because the character was scrutinized just as much, if not more, than the technical skills of any Devs, Mods, Admins etc.

My good friend Sky (Kami), of Tainted Ones, once told me that his community was so successful because he knew who to trust. That is to say, he choose character over technical skill. His inner circle (13- 19 y/o males, not always folks with the highest integrity) refused bribes from ruler and co, and intense pressure from their online buddies. Thats character right there.

If I take Yakman's word for it, and I do, this guy has the technical skills. Thats alright. Hey, maybe he could help us out, do some work in the community. I'd have to be crazy not to be for that.

Then I "met" him.

Yes, I know I can be purposely antagonistic and thats certainly not Mod/Dev/Admin material. I obviously haven't displayed the character and/or technical skills for any of those positions, or I'd have one :p

But neither has this guy. "Automember" implies that the admins have found this guy to fulfill the prerequisites of being an SRL member. I strongly disagree. He feels himself to be the center of the known universe. He reeks of narcissism so strongly I can smell it through my monitor. He has the "fuck you" attitude and all the trimmings of an intellectual pufferfish.

All in all he is no team player, and unless I'm mistaken, this is still a community. Not some tangle of users all tripping over themselves to feed the ego of their false heroes. This guy is egoflopping all over the place, screaming the equivalent of "I FOUGHT IN 'NAM, BLOW ME". Here are some examples of his fine, fine character that he was so kind as to PM me…

That being said, I am in support of letting him be a member as it has already happened. Anything else would be petty at this point. I'm pretty confident he will screw up big again though, so all I ask is at that point, is that he suffer the consequences (also never give him a rank higher than member). Also I will do my level best to play nice with him.

IMO dismembering him after he auto-joins would look really stupid at this point unless he did something to deserve it in the future.

All this guy does is exchange mental swords. He will not look at your rank, he will not care about your rank. He will respect those he finds respectful and shit on the face of those he finds to be idiots. Mentally challengy him, even if you lose the challenge, will earn you his respect.

I say this because the other day I walked into #srl on someone's request, only to find that person impotently raging and threatning super. To start with, this was useless as he would just claim he wouldn't care about a ban, making you lose your advantage.

I then talked with the guy. He hasn't been long enough to recognize me as an admin, although I am an op. We had a normal conversation, and I saw much the same attitude as fawk must have seen in the PMs.

I also think we, or at least you, can benefit from the 'bads'. Mental Sword Crossing is something that happens very often when leading positions or leading personalities are in play. Need any proof? The guy's been here a couple of days and the whole SRL seniority already knows about him.

Exchange mental swords, all I see is him acting condescending to everyone else except him because he thinks hes top shit. You're right though, the best way to earn respect of people like this is to treat them as equals and rage back - not because they enjoy the thinking part, or because they recognise that you have some brains too, but because it makes you a more defined target for them to rage/vent at, and because it lets them think theyre getting to you.

He's intelligent but not an intellectual, hes a smart ass, and honestly I cant understand why you're treating him with some sort of reverence..

Yes, we have intellectual arguments on the forums between us, but how is that relevant to anything…its not a good thing the whole seniority know about him, the only reason is because hes from another forum and acts like a complete prick to everyone, and because of this topic.

Anyway, this is a pointless argument as pointed out already, but he doesnt deserve respect or the SRL member position - he deserves a few kicks in the face.

Well, this has been done many times before. Mutant, who was infamous for his cussing, PIV that refused to see as as the incarnation of Kaitnieks and had a very ill temper, Ruler, Geno, RsN, Squigglyo, and many more leading players of the cheating scene deserved a place here and where instamembered. Same is valid for leaders of our friendly neighbours, all instamembered.

This will and always will be my (and wizz) decision, whether you like it or not. This is maybe not for the good of the individual, it is for the good of the community and for SRL at large.

We will closely monitor his activity and act accordingly.

He doesn't care about SRL, he stated so himself.
Neither did he post around and get noticed, he asked to get in.
He pissed of people in the matter of 24/hours to get his name known.

If he went by the SRL rules, and was nice and possibly respectful I wouldn't have any trouble at all, but this guy is properly the best fitting opposite of what SRL-Member stands for.

No, he doesn't "lead" a community. He's just a prominent user over at communities like MITB and Rune-Server.

If you compare him to like solarwind ect.. he's considered a leader and despite his bad first impression he is tending to be helpful so lets just live with it, no sense debating over it anymore.
