Low population on forum

Is it just me or has srl seen better times? I think we need a little bit of advertising :|.

I think your sig needs a bit less advertising (remove the swagbucks please, its not allowed :p)

And yeah this has been talked about, staff is working hard and have some plans up their sleeves for later on to get activity up…. eventually…..

Maybe it would help if there was more interest in fixing all the broken antirandoms here…

why not advertise on RS

example

auto up a ton of coal and then put in the fally drop party room and have a bunch of autoers typing this "This drop was brought to you by Villavu.com"

an idea might work might not

So much effort, might as well just spam bot

no need to advertise at a point in time when everything is broken

the more people that are here when things are broken, the worse off everything is. For once, i would say less new users registering is a good thing, if it is so.

I think we just need to start fixing things :/ Randoms seem to happen so rare for me that I actually never get a chance to even attempt a solver as I never see them.

Run POMSEM with like a 3-20 account army over night doing 20 loads per a round for each player and the next morning you'll have like 30% randoms.

1 word: Randoms.

RSbot so popular/successful because it solves most randoms or all i dont even know…

We need to build on members and not just stick on the successful members that are already here… i mean slowly 1 by 1 we are going to leave so what will SRL do? close? so keep recruiting some how, YoJoHo though did say they got plans so thats good news.

Many botters are being pulled to the so called "flawless" bots on sites such as rsbots.net/rstrainers.com/etc… Honestly it is because they are so much more powerful.

I have an RSBots.net script for Soul Wars. Their scripts aren't even close to flawless. It doesn't even have fail-safes in places it should have them. It's just that they advertise as flawless and people don't realize the mistakes…

That's why SRL is awesome :) Everyone can put their ideas to the test. I've complained several times about the scripts on RSBots but none of the staff listen to intelligent comments on their forums.

To me, i think we had more people that were willing to script when we had reflection.

Why the hell would be immature like our RSBot brothers that spammed RuneScape when all their account got banned? SRL is a much better community than that, and what you're suggesting will only give us a worse reputation.

We have over 60,000 members, with new ones signing up every day. How can you say our population is low? Active population, that's understandable. However, with what J_Pizzle suggested, will only add to those 61,000 non-active members. But what else can we do to have an active forum user base? The only thing that I'd say encourage more forum talk would be the fix of everything, more scripts and reflection around again. Without those, there's not much we can do to maintain and improve our active users as of yet.

agreed. Sadly, i think the implimentation of IRC has really killed activity on the forums. Most people would rather go to IRC and get an answer in 15 seconds then wait an hour via the forums. I still think that we need to make SCAR more user friendly. I still find it a bitch to download SCAR and SRL and Tortise SVN and all that shit on a new computer and I've been doing it for years. People go to RSbot because they don't need to take 3 days to get it to work.

But ultimately, RSBot is wasting more of the users bandwidth than SCAR. Due to weekly updates it requires. So, all in all, SCAR would be a better option to save bandwidth :p

Villavu:
Currently Active Users: 25 (15 members and 10 guests)

RScheata: Active users
23 Guests, 45 Users (2 Hidden)

Just saying :P….

One of the reasons why I moved onto RSbots.net and RScheata is because the majority bots were much better (no offense). I was/am willing to pay for perfect scripts.

Most people don't care about bandwidth, they want to get their autoer up and running quickly. I've never tried any other autoing program, but it seems that everyone else has a quicker/easier install and maintenance.

I know if I were a noob looking for a bot I wouldn't stop and think "hmmmm, which of these bots will use more of my (most likely) unlimited bandwidth?"

Also, Rsbot may have more leechers, but they also have more non leechers then us also… I mean, most scripts of there have actual proggies. (More then 2.) (Also, not from the script writer) AND post real bugs + feedback. They have helped me improve my pest control script to its best version yet (not released yet)

So, i have to say, if we get over a few million users fast, a percentage of them will actually help us.

Alot of google adsense users recived 75 dollar free tokens maybe members could use that for ads for this site?

Yeah… randoms are probably why several people go to rsbot.
I think that just because its the middle of February. More people will definitely jump on in the summer

Our name is out there, it the lack of, you know, a working autoing program that is causing srl to die

When I mention SRL/SCAR to people outside of SRL they all either say "never heard of it" or "Wow. Isn't SCAR one of those ancient color clicking bots that was one of the first?". Randoms aren't the only reason other communities are more popular. I'll list a few

  • Setup (as mentioned in this thread)
  • Variety of Scripts
  • Black Markets & Pay Scripts
  • Script SVN (for the most part, you never need to download a script, although this does come with more leeching. Nonetheless, as mentioned above, for every 10 leechers there's one guy who posts, which is better than nothing)
  • Better scripts (By better I mean faster, more efficient, etc)
  • Antirandoms
  • Reputation in general (For example, RSBot is known as some sort of high tech java injecting bot, while SCAR/SRL is known as a color clicker. As a noob, which sounds better?)
  • Ability to mass bot (RSBot has the potential to use less resources, run multiple instances, etc.)
  • Emphasis on easy to use GUIs. For example, RSBot has a simple html-type place where scripters can place setup options, with an option for scripters to create their own GUI. I think many people get turned down when they find they have to edit the script itself here at SRL

I'm not saying SRL should be trying to do all of those things. Black Markets and mass botting may not necessarily be a good thing. Everything else mentioned could be fixed though. Hopefully, Simba will be able to address some of these issues better than SCAR :)

The reason none of this has been a priority from the start can be explained by reading this huge thread.

Couldn't of said it better myself really.
SRL should stay with color but only as a back-up for Reflection.

How ownage would scripts from SRL be then? Most of them would probably run non-stop. SIMBA + Reflection + Color, SRL would be the best 'autoing' community ever made. ;)

Fixing and maintaining reflection is no easy task though :\ I took a stab at it myself, and I was completely lost. Sure, there's some people probably capable of getting it done (Trilez, J_Pizzle, Method, Mormonman), but it'll only be a matter of time until they get tired of it and we're back where we started.

As for putting reflection over color in SRL, that won't happen for various reasons, as mentioned in my last post.

Yeah I know, but if it was or having reflection + color together no which one above the other using them like 50/50 that would be good.
