What's gmail?

I'm in, though.

Whatsay we work on a tutorial runner? Would be a nice big project, and would help out the community, I think.

Uhh… if someone wants to work on POMS they should be skilled enough to at least be members, if they think they are skilled enough they can PM me or whatever and show me what they can do, otherwise I don't see a reason to let in anyone in the whole world. This is you're thing though, if you want to work with JRs thats fine, just pick an original name -.-

Tutorial runner was next on our list aswell… -.-

POMSJR lol :)
Even though I haven't signed up for POMS I have to agree with IceFire, I wouldn't like that either…

1) SRLS stands for what?
2) Why make a Jr member one? Jr members can USE the other scripts, they just cant WORK on them And SRL members are proven to be good at scirpting, Jr Members aren't, so why don't the Jr members who want to help with the project just apply for members, prove that they are good scripters, and then help?

So yeah pretty much we have it for members + since we know they can script, if JR members want to help then they can apply for members and then help. :D

OK, then continue here J_Pizzle. Perhaps I can contribute a bit to this project as well… I like it when projects are open about their development. :)

Why not just make it so that it doesn't require anyone to register to commit? 'True' open source, as it were.

Maybe this is meant to build up the confidence of the jr members and give them incentive to get better at scripting

and no offence but that post is kinda rude your saying that all jr members suck at scripting and only members are good at scripting

I think you mistook "open development" for "open source". There is more to open development that open source. Open mindedness, for example.
I think disallowing Junior members to contribute in any way is an example of closed mindedness.

Why not let them suggest patches? They don't need to have commit rights, but I think drawing the line at SRL Members is a bit harsh, and I also believe lots of junior members are decent scripters. This is also how normal Open Source works.

So, being a bit more open minded about POMS would do it good, in my opinion.

"if they think they are skilled enough they can PM me or whatever and show me what they can do"

I'm not exactly drawing the line at members, I've already let in 1 jr member just a few minutes ago. The source is completely open and there is a test thread which encourages people to post 'suggestment patches', and if they are decent scripters why can't they just ask to join or apply for members? I don't recall a single person that wanted to be a part of POMS ever been regretted the ability to.

maybe we could make it part of the SRL SVN? Or make a different SVN with public community scripts. It could all be done on these forums without the need for gmail.
Just make a new sub-forum for the scripts, making it similar to the 'SRL Public SVN' sub-forum.

Banding with other juniors to make open source scripts sounds like a great idea to me, because through collaboration we can achieve greater learning AND results than on our own.

For anybody who says or implies that:
1 - This project is useless because POMS already exist
2 - JR members are bad scripters
3 - POMS is already open to JR members

Being a junior member means that you are in the process of learning to script and probably have no place in an all-members scripting group. Instead, I believe that an all-junior team can bolster friendship and scripting skills among the new generation of SRL scripters.

I'd love to get with some junior members in a chatroom (and hell, why not some SRL members too) and trade knowledge, help each other and ultimately create open source scripts.

Well said Cigue. I agree. YohoJo and whoever said 'if they are good enough for this then they can apply and join POMs'. But have you considered that making something like this will teach JMs many aspects of scripting. And Icefire would you take a JM who knows just few intermediate stuff into POMs? I don't think so. If a few JMs team up to make a combined script, it will certainly teach them how to script with the experience. I know many of you look down at Junior members and think 'what do they know? I know a lot more than them and therefore better than them'. But you are forgetting that you were once a junior member and learning to script. And I am certain you wouldn't have like this sort of attitude.

The point is, people can learn a whole lot better if they do it instead of reading tutorials and wouldn't you agree that something like this could teach us the reality of scripting?

It was a good idea but I see all the people who are SRL members and above forcefully ruined it :(

You know you don't need SRL's approval to work on scripts together as friends :p. If you want a group script, just post a thread saying what script you want to make and that you're looking for people to work with you. Then you can get either Jr Membs or Membs or whoever to make a script with you, whoever feels like it anyway.

Who sais Junior Members are not good scripters at all?
Thats a pretty messed up statistic then, I work hard as a Junior Mem to help other Junior mem's who don't understand anything. I worked my head off with my First Script, and im 100% sure any other Junior member would have done the same.

Being an SRL Member means a lot in my book, but being a Junior Member shows our commitment to help and learn while we work our way up.

I would have joined this if I was not working with The Man on our project, but this sounds like a great thing to not only help all of us learn some stuff, but to make some really nice scripts.
