Google Wave?

I watched the 80 minute video on google wave, and can't wait for it. What do you think from these demonstrations on it? The auto updating IM is something that I have dreamed of for like ever. I also love the idea of "waves" being a new protocol.

Also, does anyone have any invitations to it?

Yeah, I have a couple more invitations. Give me your e-mail. You apparently missed the thread in Misc. Links. I've been handing out invitations for about 3 weeks :p

I think we could use it for new SRL collaboration. If you want to be a part of this idea, pm me your wave account. I just got one from bob, but i dont know if i have any invites.

If you mean automatic updating the backlog of what was said while you were offline, Skype has had that since forever :p (I only use Skype to IM, since calling online is silly).

no no no… Instead of you hitting enter to send a message, it sends to someone character by character. Calling online is not silly, i don't want to waste money by using my phone, and skype has wayyy better quality then phones, so why not?

Update to bump this I have 6 invites, I already invited Nicbaz. If you want any post or pm your email.

I meant that I only use it for text-based IMing with people :p, and that when I sign onto Skype, the whole chat history from my friends when I was offline gets sent to me so if I want to I can go back and read the backlog (unlike IRC).

Are invites tied to the google account they are sent to? I ask because I am planning on using Wave with a GoogleApps email, but I don't have it yet, so would I need to wait to ask for an invite until then?

At the moment, no. You'd have to create a new account with your invitation, due to the fact that your Google Wave account isn't linked with your standard Google Account. However, once it has been released and out of beta, it will be ;)

Whoever can make the Google Wave server authenticate with the Active Directory server when it comes out will be rich. Especially since companies don't want to have to create an account in Wave then another one in the AD server. I'm going through some the Wave developer code, it's very nice. :D
