What is the best private torrent site you use?

In the past I have used Demonoid.com and enjoyed it so much I never noticed my other memberships expiring :duh:. Now that Demonoid has gone off line, I now find myself stuck with public trackers only.

I'm curious to know what trackers you guys find the best these days and if you could send me an invite please let me know via a private message.

Cheers!

the pirate bay usually has torrents with the most peers, so I tend to just use it.

I use Torrent-Damage, and bitsoup. I used to use Demonoid, but yea you know.

Sadly Torrent Damage's invite system is down. Bitsoup prunes accounts every month so if you catch it at the right time, you get in :)

Great to see you posting again FlyBoy :)

Not private, but a compilation of all torrent sites into one list, sorted by seed, I think its amazing, and I've never really needed private sites (except demonoid) to really find anything/good speeds

I have found private sites the only way to go when you want something that requires installing on your computer… too many nasty surprises can be found on public ones.

If you got brains, public sites are fine.
Seriously, you have like 8 points to verify the healthy of the torrent if you are to lazy for that go to a private one :p.
This is not a flamewars or something ;o.

The two public ones I use work just fine. mininova.org and h33t.org
Mininova has a larger databank but h33t has really nice torrents, depending what I need I check one or both.

Haven't had a virus as of yet after 4-5 years from using either. Just don't be dumb as Hermen stated.

I like https://funfile.org. Nice private tracker. I got pruned for inactivity though. If you can maintain above a 1.0 ratio, or seed back a torrent for 3 days (if a 1.0 ratio isn't achievable), basically no hit-and runs, I can get my friend to invite you.

Edit: I'm pretty sure Demonoid is coming back online though?

“There are some rumors about the site shutting down for good and we [sic] starting a new tracker next year. The rumors are of course, lies. There are no plans of shutting down or creating another site,” Demonoid staff write.

The tracker itself is back up, and it seems as though the staff are planning to keep the site itself up. It's been down before, I remember when demonoid wasn't allowed to let Canadians use the site, but they relocated and came back.

You guys read the torrent freak news about Piratebay? Its now a 'magnet' site, and the owners are trying to convince other torrent sites to follow thier footsteps? Anyone understand that at all? Basically, tracker=oldschool magnet=better? I dont get it though.

Here is the article, anyone care to explain it to me:

DHT is decentralised, meaning that a tracker is not required to download through bittorrent. A lot of clients, like uTorrent support this. At the moment, most torrent sites host their own trackers, and provide a torrent file to download. What they are suggesting is to remove this system. The site will no longer need a tracker, as DHT and PEX (Not really sure what PEX is though) will handle that. The site will provide a magnet link. A magnet link is like an info hash of the torrent you want to download. A magnet link directly opens in the torrent client, and finds peers and seeds for the torrent through the DHT network. This makes it a lot easier to distribute files, and a lot harder to take down these websites and have tracker downtime.

Edit: DHT:
A large ad-hoc network of peers pass on information requests about torrents without a central server, meaning no control or single point of failure. No information about the contents or even the names of torrents are passed around, making this legal and hard to shut down.
