[NOV 2009] Changes to JM Scripts Forums!

Sir R. M8gic1an

Dear All,

The staff has seen it fit to use prefixes rather than seperate subforums :)
This allows us and YOU to in a glance see what are the most active scripts over all the different skills. Also, you can use the 'search by prefix' option, allowing you to view it as it was before the change.

If you choose to do an advanced search and search by prefix, ALL threads from ALL forums with that prefix will show up ;) (meaning FFA, JM and Member scripts for your skill all in one search!)

This is at the bottom of the page, notice the search by prefix option ;)

You can also click the icon/tag besides the scripts to view all scripts of the same kind.

Lots o' Love
The Staff

Quite a few requests are in the main section now, it appears that they got lost in the transfer.

Indeed they did, as did the Hybrids.

I've moved many of the of most recent requests back, although unfortunately I'm unable to do the same for the hybrids.

If anyone wishes to have their thread move to one of the to subforums mentioned above, or want a thread tagged, just report it.

I don't like this. That actually makes it harder to search for specific scripts. You have to scroll up and down to get it and before all you had to do is go to that section and click the script (which was usually the first one or the second one there) :(

Now It looks very cluttered and is hard on the eyes (for me anyway)

Change it back!!!! :crying:

Now don't all the scripts need to have a prefix? I don't mind helping if they do :)

I really really dislike the new look. I liked the old category look.

Old > New :/

EDIT: Now as I am getting used to it I actually likes it more and more.. Good job :)

We should make a poll, to see who wants new one and who wants old one lol :D

Please change it back!

Can't say I am really a fan of it :S
but if it is what you want for the forum, its the way it has to be I guess. :)

New one

- Go to JM section
- Scroll down
- Click the prefix
- Search
- If you want to see different scripts, click JM section again
- Scroll down
- Search prefix

Old one

- Go to JM scripts section
- Click on the skill
- See script
- If you want to go back just click JM script again and select skill

Which is better? The new one is very inconvenient for those of us that actually uses scripts from this section. Brain do you use scripts from Junior member section? If you did then it wouldn't look good to you.

I don't know why this was done :s Did someone complain, that the SRL member section is hard to navigate or something?

Anyway it's up to the admins to decide. Just letting you guys know about our opinions :|

Consider this those that like the old way better…

Now ALL of the updated scripts are on the first-second page and you don't have to muck through all the scripts that are way out of date.

The old way you had to return to the main forum to click into a new category just to find 1 maybe 2 updated and working scripts from that category. Now all the scripts that work are usually on the first page.

Yes but people don't run all the scripts at the same time. They need to search for specific scripts or specific skills. It looks awkward and disorganized. A new junior member wouldn't be impressed if they saw how it is now. And they didn't have to go to the main page.

SRL-Forums > SRL Public Forum > SRL Junior Member Scripts

Just clicking on the SRL Junior Member Scripts will take them back and they can go to other skills sections.

But I guess its permanent and admins won't change it back since none of the admins posted anything. So I guess I have to live with it :(

PS- I will stop posting now before admins ban me for disrespecting or something :p

I agree with you FEAR. Although I don't use any script now, but I remember the days when I was using them. And when I want to use a script I don't want to see the updated woodcutters/miners/everything else then smithing scripts if I want to smith for example. So I don't get any of the pros. Yeah you can search prefixes then you are at the beginning. You still have to search for the updated ones.(although out-dated scripts don't got prefix …, hmmm)

i find the new jr. members section is cluttered and hard to read. Its alot easier to just look through the subgroups than to do an advanced search imo.

All i can say is, i hope you know that there are 2 kind of ways to search the forums, the first one is actually on your browser, a simple CTRL + F and here you go. The 2nd one is just like RM showed the search button…

and by the way, you spam way too much… I'll better warn you before someone else warned you(Mod, Admin Rtc.);)

Excuse me? I spam too much, please next time keep your comments to yourself. If you don't understand it when someone is stating their opinion. I would suggest you keep that to yourself. I have been in the forums longer than you have helping people and you tell me I spam too much? Sorry if I sound rude but my first post wasn't even remotely close to a spam.

So I would appreciate it the next time you want to post something like that, please keep it to yourself.

And if you think scrolling down to the very end and searching every time or pressing ctrl+F every time I want to see specific scripts is better than clicking just twice to get the script you are looking for….Well you must have got some of your wires crossed.

1st, i wasn't here for a fight but anyways…

Let's see… I'll Count 1… 2… 3… 4… 5. 5 Posts about your opinion, isn't just one post enough? Oh and… You wanna tell me that you've helped SRL more then i did… I made 2 tutorials for srl, i made 3 scripts for srl, i am at least 1 hour a day on the IRC, MY NAME IS ON SRL ITSELF… and you wanna fucking tell me that you've done more for this community?:angry: IMO, You're just a leecher that doesn't like the new way where he always leech'd.

Take it to PMs/MSN if you have to, the public doesn't need to read this, (even though, I must admit, it's pretty funny ;)).

i liked the old version 'cause you could zero in on exactly what kind of script you wanted. Then you just choose one from that section. Now it's a bit harder to find a script for a certain job.

really really dislike, it seems more difficult to find…

The reason it is changed is so that working scripts are on top, and not working scripts get pushed downwards. There was just way too much spam/dumb posts on broken scripts asking if they worked or not. This helps stop that from happening.

Really? Then whats this then

http://www.villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45254

How many threads did you have to close after the update and how many did you close before the update? Looks to me after the update people dig out more old scripts and push the working ones down and to the next page…:garfield:

I can maybe four out of the top ten scripts are outdated.

YoHoJo

2009-12-13 00:12:58

@FEAR its happening much less now.
Before:
Scripts organized by category.
Top were normally fine, bottom were normally bad.
Since organized by category, lists were smaller, and more (bad) threads visible per page caused bumps of outdated scripts.

Now:
All in one page(s)
Top (however many are working scripts) are at top (with exception of a few old ones)
And most of the old ones just trail onto bottom of first page and further

So although the problem still exists (due to people being stupid :p and not reading the thread) you can't argue that it's happening much less now due to the changes.

Edit: That dumb you pointed out was a new member who gravedigged a one month old thread. Normally people who know how the forum works wouldn't have bothered looking so far down the list of scripts to check to see if it was working.
