Its alright. I prefer Millennium (LAWL)

Meh im not completely happy with any OS.

Windows is too shitty but easiest to make shiny

Linux is very good but not shinny enough

Mac is just stupid

It can be changed back to normal size.

Multitouch, yes. Multi pointers, yes. Multi keyboards, yes.

UI state: Same state as about 5 years ago: Perfect. 100% customizable and tweak-able.

Window snaps + >9000 other features.

E:
About that "big" bar. Have a look at KDE for the past 8 years.

Look, that's the problem. There's too much to tweak, and too many choices to be made.
I'd like to point you towards the book "The Paradox of Choice" by Barry Schwartz. Contrary to popular belief, choice makes anxious, not happy. It's pretending to be freedom, but choices can be a hell: they keep getting after you, they keep returning, you need to make them every time.

Oh, and about the "big bar", NeXTSTEP 1989 ;)

Besides I just hate Gnome, can't get used to it. I preferred KDE but all the widgets just fuck it up epicly. Never used XFCE but it seems perfect to me. Got nothing against Linux but of course someone needs to stop the "windows is sooo shit", because its not too bad, at least it works fine with my monitor out of the freakin box x)

KDE came way before Windows 7.. notice any similarities?

http://www.zdnet.com.au/insight/software/soa/Is-it-Windows-7-or-KDE-4-/0,139023769,339294810,00.htm?omnRef=http://tech.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=09/02/06/0912213

Compare:

vs.
http://www.kde.org/announcements/4.1/

I wonder where microsoft got some of their ideas from

Regardless of where they got the idea, MS did a hell of a better job on their task bar than the KDE team did IMO.

Yes, it's Windows, so it must suck!

@Nava: Every OS has tons of similarities, because people are used to a certain model of user-interface which is therefor adopted in some form by every OS…

Windows 7 runs more smoothly than any OS I've ever used, I agree that Microsoft hasn't got a reputation of making the most stable software, but with Windows 7 they certainly got the job done right… Not claiming that Linux sucks or anything, quite on the contrary, these last 2 years the Linux distros have greatly improved to a point where they are very accessible to the average user with way better driver support and stability… It's just a matter of choice, but just saying Windows sucks because you can is pure ignorance, you can bring up the whole Vista argument and what not, but Linux wasn't always as stable as it is today either…

Saying Windows sucks because I can is just exercising my freedom of speech and following my personal belief of always telling the truth.

I have tried it, and it was shit.
It isn't ignorance, it is my opinion. The whole ``Windows Experience'' to me is simply ruined. I'm not saying it is very sluggish, but the software for it sucks. Having to look for free (as in no price) software for it is often a pain, and if want to use anything that generally works ok, it usually costs. And if you don't want to pay, you have to go over 100 of serial and crack sites, with annoying (porn) ads. Besides from it being illegal and whatnot.
Having to scan every file I download, etc. I just get so tired and annoyed when I went back to it for a few hours… I really couldn't stand it.

But that's just my opinion, and you're free to have yours.

They removed lots of (useless, memory hogging) stuff that was already in Vista. Even the Win7 Kernel is version 6.1. (Vista was 6)
