Well kindov the same thing, if someone posts an acct name, and someone claims it, people will know whos acct is whose (you removed marpis's acct name so im guessing you want to keep privacy?) I dont get it.

OR pm when your accounts' names appear on the spotted list? To avoid spam to Hobbit.

How will we know if our name is on the spotted list if the list is private (to not let people know our account names). Also if we do it your way marpis, people can see the list, and if any names are removed they'll know they belong to us.

Yeah, from reading Bonesaw Pk's posts on his forum me and n3ss3s decided he's been using for a long time, at least a few months, and nothing has gone wrong yet. Hes level 108, Moto dude is 122 or something. Not that their level says anything about their responsibility but they're both using a version which takes ~50 seconds to solve so they've had it for a while (dont know how though…) but it seems to be pretty much contained atm.

Edit - we would be able to get their IP's from SwiftIRC, but I dont think ddos'ing or attempting to hack them would be a good idea

Aye, but its too late now. Deal with the matter as best as possible. Let them keep it but double make sure they promise and understand the consequences if it gets out. - Huge sudoku nurfs and probably tons of attention to that spot for those botting it (which are the only ones imo).

I don't know if c0de leaked it, that was speculation based off me thinking he had a pure in FOE (he may have, I think he mentioned it on msn to me once, ages ago), and he rage quit SRL so he would have more incentive than the normal person. There are ways of contacting these two people (clan forums, swiftirc) but I dunno if we should. What would we say, "please dont leak to anyone else"? As far as we know they havent yet, and if they knew we didnt want them to, they would have something over us. They would be able to say "give me the newest version or ill leak", "give me access to where the script is or ill leak", etc. So I dunno.

What is operation watergate?

When they first came out, the runes were significantly cheaper than market values. I made a program to solve the large sudokus. Then I would just enter the runes, and I could solve a chest in 30-45 seconds, I think. Was good money :D

He hasnt posted about it, but hes super rich and pks in the top gear available. (statius's stuff, pvp worlds only) Says he made it from ranging over the last couple of months, but that sounds like bs given what we know

As I've said, c0de was still here during the time Ali Raper was made, Jagex knows we do it, they even changed the backgrounds of the slots and have done other small shit that means nothing to legit players, but somewhy they're ok with it :p

sudoku_install.exe, I don't want to install it, but I doubt a SCAR script would come in an exe… But it's not impossible that these other people mostly use generic sudoku solvers where they enter the numbers and it gives a result? Doesn't really take much more than 50 sec imo once you get the momentum going on?

Ok so I finally managed to get a chat with Ian today. I tried to be as subtle as possible in asking if he'd come across any scripts he shouldn't have and if he'd been trying to sell it somewhere. He denies it. I went ahead and tried to make him feel as guilty as possible but saying stuff like I couldn't never talk to someone who was lying to my face and if I found out he was lying I'd never talk to him again…

Anyways he swears on our friendship that he hasn't sold any scripts which makes me believe he is being sincere about it.

Personally I don't think Ian is capable of handling any script sales atm anyway especially for hundreds of dollar each sale…. he's had a lot of issues on his mind lately and he just simply wouldn't be able to go and organise something like this…

Do we have any IP's from Ruler that we can cross match with Ian's logged ones here at SRL? Do we really have any evidence other than some guy by the same name making a post on some other forum?

OK so word is starting to spread, more people are starting to make scripts for it. Hasnt been much of an influx of sudokuers lately as far as I can tell so for now we're safe, but we're out of offensive options - we cant force ian to stop spreading by attacking him and we cant edit SRL to get them all banned as they're being made in java. JAD, any chance you could find out who has the knowledge through grant and then talk to them/get someone else to talk to them about how it would get nerfed if released? If that cant be contained then we've got no option other to release, cause it will probably be nerfed anyway.

Anyone up for a group picture of us all in RS showing off our phats and stuff? Would make a good picture to put on the release thread if we decide to release :D

Because I don't believe the leak is very big, and has been capped by the price…at least they were smart enough to realize, that if they released to many copies, the negative impact it would have ;)

Even if two people bought it, they will either resell it or just give it to others, I'm scared. And the method is out too though which blows, soon a script will be made I'm too a-scared, haven't used it in a year+, and I'm just paranoid about my account.

The leaking of script can possibly be stopped, but the method is know by lots of people now, I'm scared about another script getting made soon.

I'm not to worried for the people that bought it selling it, as I'm sure everyone using it is how aware it is to not spread it to much or it gets nerfed…occasionally I see 2 people on 1 world, but you can still go to several worlds and find noone there, so i don't think the leak was to bad…only a matter of time though

Simtoon's a fucking leak…I spotted Team Moto K (a dude who uses sudoku alot, seen him many times) a while ago, we chatted, and today we ran into each other again and ended up talking to each other in game, where he told me that he used a program, and then we talked on msn.

(FUCK just closed MSN window….no proof this ever occured any more but I could get him to restate)

Bit of chit-chat, he told me he lives in NSW in Australia (simtoon lives there). First I asked if he knew of SCAR or SRL, he said he uses SCAR. It doesnt look like someones SRL account was taken, as you would need to be pretty computer-smart to do that and if that happened sudoku would be everywhere. What I'm thinking at this stage: Someone in SSRL gave to either ian, simtoon or both. I dont know if ian and simtoon are mates or not, one may of gave to the other if they are. Then ian couldnt control his greed, he told grant, and then they started selling etc.

tl;dr - We have a leak in SSRL that isnt due to someones account being compromised, but is due to someone in SSRL+ leaking to someone below. SSRL+ Leaker -> Ian and or Simtoon -> Ian gives to Simtoon/Simtoon gives to ian -> Ian sells and shares with RL mates, Simtoon shares with an RL mate and possibly more people but unlikely.

Someone had access to my account, I believe guys. Bobarkinator sent me a pm that my account had sent him saying that one of the accounts spotted at sudoku was mine. It was not my account though.

I have a feeling that whoever it was has possibly been giving out the script/selling it. I would have no clue how anyone got my password though.

Ok, nava's mate haxor gave it to simtoon and ian. Simtoon gave it to Team Moto K. Prime example of why even your best mates shouldnt get access…cause then they give it to their good friends, and the chain goes on until someone like ian gets it and ruins it

It does not make sense.. The 'Ian.',that posted on RSCheata, said he got it from SSRL. He mentioned it quite a few times in replies.. Why would he say that?
Wouldn't it be just easier for him to say he created it himself?
Besides, I'm pretty sure Markus confirmed that they were using 'our' script by just reading the header.. The sold script had the same header as we here use.

Why are we even considering giving Haxor our version of the script, anyways? That just struck me as odd.

I told Haxor often enough that it's very nice he got his version, but that's all he can have.

Is there any chance we quantify the spotted sudoku'ers, in other words, make a spreadsheet and plot a graph.
I think this would help our decision-making process a lot.

watch out for statistical traps like the number of spotted accounts rising because you have more people trying to spot them. Maybe if you make the y axis number of new accounts divided by number of ssrl spotters.

I think we should release now. If people who cant even script have access, the leak has obviously spread too far and we're not able to control it. Better to release now and have some fun than let it slowly die, at least it will be on our terms

Because now shitfaces of this kind will slowly rape it and keep it as their own, until Jagex nerfs it, which wouldn't be surprising if all of them share it with their friends etc.

Well, they can't rape it, if they aren't even able to fix it for themselves ;)… there are how many RS Worlds ?…I say, until we see 1 person on every world, the leak isn't to bad…and we can't fault people who use alternative methods(bots, unless influenced by this script) because the basic idea for a solver has been on RuneHQ for a very long time now…

E. and if they received the script and they know it wasn't intended for them, I think they have no grounds to complain if the new version they are given doesn't perform as expected ;) :stirthepot:

I don't think the guy who PMed markus meant to rub anything in his face. I think he just doesn't know its leaked and is innocently just asking him to fix it, that's all. But yeah, lets compile a list of actions we can take, and have a poll about it? (Of course only if Markus allows for that). We've been talking about it for a long time, and it's time we take action now and do sumfin!

I guess IBot is back up ? i see alot more people here today…and I think i even found a P-mod autoing =p Milbrand …i was testing the responds on a couple of accounts when he logged in…i threatened to report my other account (testing response) and he said hi than ran away before i could even talk to him :p…some support staff jaghex has :p …a few logged off when he said hi (scar I'm guessing)..the others didn't reply and just kept on clicking…i thought the other bots logged out as well when a mod was spotted ?
