Swine Flu?

This isn't really General News, but the section says "Public Chat" so I'd like to have a public chat.
How many people here have had swine flu? Were the symptoms worse than a normal flu? By how much? Did you have an extremely high fever?
My parents are convinced that I have it right now, but I haven't had anything that other people have described to me as the symptoms.
My symptoms are:
-Mild Fever (Highest was 38.5 celsius)
-Minor chest pain, which feels more in my heart almost, but most likely just my lungs.
-Runny Nose/Stuffed up (varies from time to time)
-Cold but sweating.
-I cough a lot, probably because of whatever is hurting my lungs.
I haven't really had any major aches or pains, just cramping of my legs from being in bed most of the day.
I have had pneumonia of various types (viral and bacterial) and it feels almost more like that where there is a pain in my lungs. It doesn't feel as serious as ever before though, so I don't know if that is it.
Anyone maybe tell me their experiences with swine flu, how the symptoms were, and an amateur diagnosis on what I've got? I'm going to the doctor tomorrow, btw.

the vaccine tastes horrible, they squirt it down the back of your nose, but you can still taste it when it hits your throat.

In Canada they give you a shot.

that is the different kind of vaccine
the one with the semi alive virus is the nose one (Attenuated vaccine), while the one with the dead virus/parts of the virus is the injected one (Killed vaccine).
The killed vaccine is usually used for high risk people, or people in contact with high risk people, while the Attenuated vaccine is used on healthy people (and at this point is more widely available, I think).
edit:
Nothing to do with this thread? If I said that I like to ride my bike in the snow, that has less to do with this thread, but you could still relate it remotely.
and no, it is not the normal flu, it has been proven it is a different, you can't argue that point….now the symptoms and dangers compared to the normal flu is the questionable area.

Thats what I've been thinking, however, I'll still be going to the doctor because of my parents.

The only one that they use in Canada right now I think is the injected one I think. I asked my dad and he said they use the live vaccine in kids, I don't really know why though.

kids dont have a good/great natural immunity, :p
and brain, your first post answered non of his questions in the first post, it just seemed like a random little sentence :D
you should be fine.
Back in June, there was like 3 days where half of the school was sick (including me).
I am not sure if I had swine flu, but I felt really bad, major head pain and constant running nose.

Chest pain is always bad. Goto a doctor and stop asking the intranetz for medical opinions.

I got the nasal swine flu shot. Its mainly because shots and kids don't mix. I don't really care, but if I can avoid a pain in my arm I'm not going to say no.

Whether its normal flu, or swine flu, I wouldn't worry yourself over it. Barely anyone has died from swine flu, you are probably more likely to die getting driven to your local doctor to find out if it is or not. As long as you have no underlying health issues, you are probably fine.

like I previously said, the nasally administered vaccine is much different than the injected one….the nasal one is for healthy people whose immune system can fight off the damaged virus easily, and make anti bodies.

ah, ok, I thought you were saying that the only reason the nasal one was around was to save little kids the "pain" of a shot. :p

If you were wondering the vaccine has done more damage than good, the vaccine had more side effects than the illness can cause unless your immune system is very weak.

its possible you have swine flu or it could just be the regular flu
i think all the hype about swine flu and how its deadly and stuff is caused by the media
i wouldnt worry unless your immune system isnt very strong

I had 40.3 fever as worst one night, had to go to the hospital.
Chest pain aswell, coughing up blood red spit.
Cold but sweating.

I had it, and had an awful cough (probably didnt help that I wouldnt quit smoking when I got it) but its nothing to be worried about. I felt like trash but still went to school and stuff.
Its all hype. If you think about it and get all worried and stuff then you'll think you're more ill then you actually are. I got TamiFlu but never actually took any, because I think I can heal on my own, so I might as well. They only relieve the symptoms and so you know.
And the vaccine wont work well. Sure, it will stop it a little, but if you already have it, its pretty pointless. Your body will make the antibodies if you get the jab or not. Jabs work before you get it, so you wont get it in the future.
tldr; nothing to worry about.

I haven't really been worrying about it. I know it isn't swine, because it wasn't bad at all. More of common cold symptoms with a worse fever I guess.
I dont plan on getting the shot anyway, all the stuff that happens from it really isn't great fun.
A silly hyped up flu. Had it, wasn't really even bad.. I felt actually terrible for a total of few hours, otherwise it was just like a normal flu. And I know it was the swine flu.

I did, I just didn't feel "horrible" for too long unlike rest of my family. My sisters friend had gone to school with 39 celsius fever so 2 days later my sister gets ill and suddenly rest of the family does too, and my mom even went to that swine flu test and was tested positive for it. And I was around them 24/7 for multiple days while I was ill so I would've caught it too if I just had some "lesser flu" for some reason, even though the only ill people I had been around had swine flu.
And I'd like to add that I barely ever catch any flus and whatnot and when I do I barely ever get too ill, which is pretty weird to me as I have pretty unhealthy lifestyle, I suppose I'm just awesome.

To the people arguing over the symptoms etc: You're all forgetting that it affects different people to different extents, and in different ways. The logical extension of what youre saying is "people have died from swine flu, therefore you didnt have it because you didnt die", which is obviously false. And different strains (I assume theres different substrains of it) would also have slightly differing effects. So relax

I totally agree that the vaccines looks horrible
I just don't know the efficacy of the drug
they say its not 99.9% elective.

The vaccine gives you a little flu, and that is supposed to happen!
I don't think that they would give the vaccine to the whole world if it was dangerous.
EDIT: Sorry for double posting!

You'd think that, but when the whole media is insisting that you'll die if you don't get the vaccine people will try to get it no matter what. I'm sure they lobbied the hell out of the governments and are now insanely rich regardless.
I had the nasal vaccine the same day my two-year-old brother and mom caught it, so I felt like crap for a whole day from the vaccine and then a couple days later had some mild symptoms (probably because I was half-immune by then). I think the vaccine isn't worth it, since the Swine Flu's symptoms are identical to the regular flu. The only difference is that most people have to make a T Cell instead of having one ready to fight it beforehand (meaning more people get infected)
Afaik the vaccine can make you really sick, and gives like a 40% immunity againts swine flu..

Another reason to take the vaccine is to not give the flu to people that may get seriously sick by it. So by getting the vaccine you get more immune to the flu, and you make it less chance that people that may get seriously sick gets the flu.
