if you live in North America (not mexico :p) they can't legally ask you for your age. so if they don't ask, don't mention it.

Places like Tim Horton's, McDonald's, Harveys etc. hire at 14 btw.

I doubt that they cannot ask your age. I think it would be more along the lines of they cant discriminate you because of your age?

Plus wouldnt they kinda know when you gotta give them proof of id for working (from uk) Not sure what you would call it like a passport etc

I know that they hire under 16 at McDonalds, but you can't legally work in the kitchen or with any food until you are 16. So you can work cash, but you can't make the coffee or anything, you have to get someone else to handle all food. I heard that it's because of insurance. At the local McDicks, they usually make anyone that they hire who is under 16 work the lobby, which is all the tables. You basically get paid minimum wage to clean the floors, tables, bathrooms, take out the trash. That sort of stuff.

Yeah, my friend worked there, his card expires in december though. He quit yesterday because of hockey and school.

You can always steal stickers that say it is up to date though if your friends work there :p.

In the US you can't have any "hazardous" jobs if your under 18… which sadly a lot of the jobs are considered that, its kinda dumb. You can only get jobs with menial tasks etc. you might be able to get a cash register job if you have good connections (sadly comes down to that).

You have to be 16 or very near to 16 to work at McDonald's. Since you will be working around hot grease thats the age requirement.
To be a cashier, I believe you have to be 18.

Eh working at 14 is pretty much a joke. It's the most boring and slow work ever and you honestly probably won't get hired. Not downing you or anything, but at 14 not many places want to hire you just because of you are a liability to them. You can't do most things besides the mindless tasks. I would wait to you are 16 if you want to work. Enjoy your youth man, I wish I did.

McDonalds hires at 14 as does Tim Horton's.. if you have that.

Uhm McDonalds kinda blows to work at, but its a good experience. You would be working cash and doing bathrooms, tables etc. Kinda reiterating what has been said, but I did work there for two years.

Would never go back, but it was fun when you worked with friends.

Hmm, I would just enjoy your youth if you can, working blows. Wait to get a job. If you need to get an easy job for some small income, paper route or catalogue delivery is pretty good.

Best of luck!

In an interview situation there is a series of questions which can not be asked of you.

For instance, do you plan to have kids in the future, what is your age etc.

These questions are not relevent to the job, and can not be discriminated against.
Questions they are allowed to ask are, What are your skills, experiences, etc.

They can turn you down due to your lack of experience, rather than you being young.

Good luck, I guess.
