And it's not like they just decided to give him this today. They actually decided to give it to him a long time ago, when he had done less (harm) to the country. What did he do to deserve a peace prize?? He hasn't even ended any wars…

I dont like Obama anymore. America has gotten no where since he became president. However he did a much better job then bush did in his last past 4 years. Please. He did not want to end the war. Mccain did not want to end the war. Yes the Iraqi war will be ended in 2010, however America will suffer more in Afghanistan. Who started the war in Afghanistan? Bush did.

There all the same. Except Obama is obviously > Bush.

That prize really got me off gaurd. He does not deserve it.

As said before, I find this to be absolute bull. I was honestly outraged today when I was at tesco's and the TV was on and saw Obama got a nobel prize for his peace efforts.

I now ask you, put Obama (who's been influencial and 'in favour' of peace for…. 6 months?) and Ghandhi (who spent a lifetime vouchingfor peace?) next to each other, and ask yourself if Obama really deserves it.

Just found this, but you can't even say he got this prize for the 10 months he did in office. Nominations for the nobel prizes had to be in by February 1, less than 2 weeks after he got into office. What had he done by then??

you're right, that was the nominations deadline, not when they decided who won it….

I don't see anyone bashing Obama (plenty of other reasons to do that though, which could pop up in any Obama topic), but rather the absurdity of the Nobel Peace Prize. Personally, from here on out, I don't think I'll be seeing anybody in a different light after they do or don't receive the Prize, it doesn't seem significant anymore.

What Capricorn means is which is easier to make look better:

A car with no dents and scratches on it.

A car with 10 large dents and scratches all over it.


Aka, which is easier to make look better:

An economy with 1% unemployed (which in a non communist country, 0% unemployment is impossible)

An economy with 20% unemployment (closer to the true unemployment rate if you count underemployed and people who have given up and left the labor force).



It's obviously the latter in both situations..

This is such nonsense. It cheapens the award SO much to make it almost meaningless.

The first principle of medicine is "First do no harm." I may not have been able to fix everything, but I also know I wouldn't have done the harm he has so far.

What the hell has he even done to deserve a nobel prize? He got elected as the president of the USA after the whole country was hypnotized with "CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE, oh and he's also a black guy! awesome! CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE" by the media and now he deserves a nobel prize? There hasn't been and there won't be any magical change that will turn the whole world into a paradise as people seem to think will happen just because the president of USA is black.

When you say strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples, do you mean that whole little incident where Obama freaking bowed down like a servant, to the head of Kenya or whatever? Yeah pretty much saying, "Hey every one look! America is full of Panzies!! Yay!!"

The funny part of the whole thing, is there was reports saying,"Obama dropped something.","Obama had to tie his shoe." No he was bowing the the Prime Minister (or what ever Kenya has) of his home country.

For one thing, who leaves Hawii? lol! That's my opinion atleast.

The year he was murdered they considered giving it to him post humorously, and ultimately decided to not award anyone the prize that year (1948).

Hitler was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for a short time in 1939.

President Theodore Roosevelt won it in 1906 to much controversy as well, the New York Times considered him as the "most warlike citizen of these United States".

I found it noteworthy that he really didn't expect to get it, he didn't seem to have prepared a speech. He's constantly reading from his paper. It's still better than any speech I've ever seen from Bush, though…
