Oh. My dad has a blackberry. I would use it if it was free. But I don't want to waste his monies.

I'm getting a blackberry pearl flip I suppose, pretty soon. The provider here has a student plan that has unlimited bbm, msn, facebook, texting, and 200 anytime minutes for 35$. That, and a blackberry for 30$ (3 year plan :() should suit me.

Student Plan it comes to $42 a month, and it is good for what it is. Don't get the pearl flip, get the curve. Its much nicer.

The flip has been having many problems.

Oh, I am on that plan btw ;) Telus :D

The curve is so bulky though..

I have been using my dad's lately, as I mentioned. It is the new curve. I've butt/pocket dialed two people already, in a week. It isn't something I really like. I'd much rather have a flip phone.

The Black Berry storm 2 is coming out soon. If it's on the carrier you prefer, maybe you could go with that.

I also have a student budget ;). BlackBerry storm right now is 100 something with a 3 year plan, and from what I have heard, it isn't even that great. What I want is a flip phone, and the fact that it is a blackberry is great.

I would prefer the curve, if there was a possible way to never pocket dial. It ruins the phone, and it's really frustrating. I'll settle on the pearl flip just for that reason.

It comes with a leather case, toss it in there and it goes to sleep.

There is a magnet that the blackberry senses. Not to mention, just hold the top button and it will sleep as well. :)

Haha. So tell me, master. What is the great advantage of the curve as opposed to the pearl flip?

The current pearl is really delicate, as well, it is really buggy. My girlfriend has reset it about 4 times now in the past 6 months of having it.

So….all it does is encodes your phone number in a QR Code, and then you get charged money to use that service? :/

Its your pin not your phone number.

Also nava you were right it is taken off the data plan, I got mixed up with my plan. My plan is like everything and my friends dont have INTERNET but they still have the DATA plan, so then they don't get charged.

@Harry
If you don't have a data plan then there is no real point in getting a blackberry now is there? And if you have a data plan you dont get charged for BBM :p

What else does this magical data plan do? I haven't seen anything in the Student stuff covering data usage?

With the plan, you are talking about you get free social sites and BBM, so there is no need for the Data plan.

but if you do get the data plan, you get to use all the other great things on the blackberry, like a full html browser. plus you won't get charged for using apps as they will require internet

Depends one what data plan you get.

Emails, internet, etc fall under data plan

I think the data plan is very much worth it, I pay $65/month after taxes and fees and all that jazz and i have;

200 anytime minutes
1000 evening and weekend minites
Evening and weekends starting at 6
Voice mail
Caller Id
Unlimited Internet
Unlimited Email
Unlimited Texts (international)
Call waiting
Conference Calling

SOOOO Sexy of a plan :)

Not bad. When mine comes in I'll have basically the same as that except I'll have unlimited evening and weekend minutes, and only 500MB Data instead of unlimited, but it's only $54.00 after taxes.

I'd rather pay more and have more interwebs than have more talking :p I somehow use way over the 500mbs lol. I have no clue how either but it works for me :p

Wow, I know a ton of people who use it more than they should, and they don't even get close to 500mb. :eek:
