Its been a little time since I used Photoshop. Yes, one of them is a remake of an old one.

DDD: I like them, but there is not much variety of the colors or the lighting :) What about reading some tutorials about that?

Dont really like it that much, you can see that its just been placed on top like it shouldnt be there. It isnt blended in very well so ill give it a 4/10

Very nice blend between the render and background. Looks very nice. Not including the text id give it a 9/10

Text on the dragon one can be improved, add the same effect as you have on the Fear Me part and make it stand out a bit more. Try experimenting with a few differnt colors, maybe blue or yellow.

Im a sucker for thin sigs, i dont like anything that is thick. Id say 300px height is the max you should ever go.

Fiddle around, get some eye candy plugins.

Also, the perspective on the Mario sig is a bit wonky and makes Mario look squished.

people on forums like Evoke normally give much harsher feedback for work that even I think is amazing. I don't think there was anything wrong with what I said because I think telling a lie in order to make someone happy in this case is pathetic.

The reason I don't like your signatures is that it's too typical. I see signatures like this everywhere. You haven't really done anything no one else has done. And I personally don't find a picture of Mario placed on top of a CM4D impressive. When I look at a signature the first thing that goes through my mind is how did he do that?

And my Sig is a link to my home page… Not a piece of art… I haven't tried to develop some amazing typography. It's just a basic link…

I apologize for hating your work I just despise use of renders and CM4Ds especially when they haven't really been touched… I promise to be much more supportive in the future…

Dervish, your signatures are awful to look at and basic to make. You cannot pass this off as anything other than a couple of bits thrown onto a canvas. Post this ANYWHERE on a design forum, or not even a design orientated forum and you would be destroyed. You cannot lash out at newbiez because he was brutally honest about how crap your signatures actually are. You take pride when people on this forum with little or no design experience say it looks good, but when someone who actually works in the trade says it you get pissed off and tell them they are up themselves. Newbiez has a REASON to be up himself. He is better then you, like it or not, its a fact. He is voicing his opinion so it would be nice if you would not attack him for being honest.

I post two of my new signatures which I have done since a long time ago. Then you guys come and take a crap on my work, tell me it sucks and all… I tell you I'm fine with it just that I would prefer constructive critiscism.

And tbh, the feather in your current sig has a white outline, you might want to fix that.

then DDD would have something to work with, a simple "I hate your work" doesn't help anyone.

I would just like to say first, well done i know you do put effort into your gfx and try hard so well done for that. When i first started off at gfx my sigs were just some filter and a render.

On the other note..
I feel like I'm seeing the same thing each time, the C4D thingy and then the render, sure its a nice effect if used well, but it does get a bit old after its been used many times and not at its full potential.

When your designing its always good to think about the Design elements and Principles.

Space - Things like how is the render spaced in your signature how far away are the
misc effects.

Line - Making sure all your lines in your signature and staying in the correct perspective and look nice together ( you have done this will in the second signature).

moving on to principles..

Balance - make sure everything in your signature is balanced and have set focal points throughout your image and not just have everything anywhere.

Color Harmony - Making sure your colors will work together and look nice, anyone with a good eye can pick up weather the colors are in harmony.

There are many more, just research on them and think about them as you make your signature.



Its not a bad thing to look a tutorial and post the signatures you have created via the tutorial, it helps everyone learn and find out new things about photoshop, and once you know many many effects you can combine them in signatures. And you will be able to create awesome graphics without any use of tutorials.

Which is pretty much my only sig without that effect.

We wouldn't have had this situation, if you had critiscised in a better way and given me tips on how to improve, you'd have recieved way better comments and not the "crap" as you call it.

I agree though, better being honest than lieing to avoid getting flamed and trying to make the person happy.

But being honest doesn't have to mean crushing the person's feelings.

MARIO:

At first glance, i thought it was amazing. At second glance, i saw a few things. First of all, the background seems to be more pixelated then mario. It looks like mario was a cut n' paste kind of thing. Second of all, mario looks kind of fat :p.
This one has potential, i suggest you keep working on it. 56.5% :D.

Diablo Beast:

This one is REALLY good. He blends perfectly in with the background, and the text is PERFECT. Everything is perfectly centered and balanced, AKA: a work of art. I give it a 85%!

I liked the dragon one more than the mario one. Your current one is better than the other ones though.

The mario one is a little squished, like everyone said. Maybe you resized the render all weird like.

I think torrent has a point, and that nobody here really knows anything about graphic design. But I also think that it was kind of an ego thing wanting to make sure everyone knew he was better..

That link that you posted with the ultra amazing art work. I actually didn't even like over half of the stuff there. Sure, I wouldn't be able to make it, but it really didn't even look good. So many effects and so many things included in them, it really isn't made for the every day person. Take a look at a steriotypical american, who is half mentally retarded (hypothetical, and not saying I believe the steriotype). This person would be much more attracted to a simple design than the complex stuff that happens on that site. I liked the little sigs that they had to advertise the work. Once I clicked on the sig, I saw lots of images that were loaded with random stuff, and really just confused me. Would the steriotypical american like that? No. Would the graphics designer have a shit ton of fun trying to figure out every single element of the design? Most likely. It's all in the point of view, not the show of skill.

I think the simpler versions of stuff should be here, since as stated, 3 people have graphics design backgrounds, and the rest don't. I would rather piss off 3 people who think everything is too simple than everyone else who gets confused at complicated stuff.

Well only 2 pics are there are for display… The rest have been jobs… I'm gonna be putting up more soon… It just takes a while with the entire add/hide div behaviors…

I do like the outcome of it, but it wasn't very easy to follow. He just said his steps like "You can do this, I did this, maybe that, kinda this, and I set it to this, pushed this button, and presto!" so it didn't really do me any good.
