This is still Illegal!
your site scans the internet for .mp3 files and allows ppl to download them straight from the server hosting the file. That is illegal buddy. 100% actually.
Anyone can download music from places like projectplaylist and the sort but it's not handed to them easily. The internet is not full-proof, if anyone wants anything you have hosted, they can get it.
Like myspace music. If it's good quality, run recording software like Goldwave. You get the exact same .mp3 easily.
The illegal part is supplying a user-friendly way of "stealing" the goods from those sites.
File sharing client creators are exempt from legal issues because they are designed to share anything! If I write and record a song, I AM allowed to share it on Limewire if I choose and ppl ARE allowed to download it! Installing Limewire even states that the program is not made for illegal means and you must agree to not copyright infringe in order to open it.
I hated project playlist for this crap of media scanning. Don't be like them…

Do you really think they are going to follow up on that?
Most likely not.
Anyway, how could it be illegal to stream play stuff? That is where I must draw a line. downloading and burning to CD's is one thing but streaming playback?! You sound like a Metallica crony.
Are you an FCC robot?
Report myspace, project playlist, last.fm, and pure volume.
If you want to file complaints, file them against projectplaylist. They scour the internet for .mp3 files and then reveal the link for you to download illegally. Actually, they give u a play option and WMP can save the file…

Streaming copyrighted material you don't own is illegal.
All of the sites you mentioned PAY for the RIGHTS to stream the music. Esp last.fm, they are CBS am I correct? & Fox owns myspace. Project Playlist was sued before, I think the suit is still on going? Anyway projectplaylist does pay royalties aswell.
And by the legalities, (if that's spelled right), are of the USA law. The server is located in California

Are you aware that USA law is planning on taking over the internet and creating a one-world gov? Do u know what that means? No more SRL if Jagex claims it's a threat because the net will be regulated.
And are you aware that streaming music is free advertising? If the artist and song are noted, it makes ppl want it if they like it. Hence why internet radios don't pay royalties. File against Zybez, they stream music all day every day, I doubt they pay anything at all. Myspace streams what is uploaded by users with a Myspace music account… I doubt there are royalties there as well.
Try again… please

uncfan1119, this is a community. If you are going to go report me to some copyright company go right ahead. But know this, I will do whatever i can to take you down aswell. My site offers streaming of music off other sites, i do not host any illegal content. Have u read my terms of service and disclaimer? While your ahead go try and take down beemp3.com, mp3raid.com they have been up for 7 years and offer the exact same service as me. There are 100's of sites like mine out there and not one has been taken down. So do me a favour and go deal with them. You will be ignored by your requests, as this website is mostly legal. Also go try take down google, If you have read my terms of service you would understand that google has many sites in there directory and it provides direct links to these music files just as mine does. So please go and file a complaint about google:)
If you do not like the site, simply get the fuck off. Dont mess with me kid. This is meant to be a good community, but trash cans like you make it not worth being apart of it. Now i'd advise you to back off. Even if i get taken down, ill still be up on anonther website:).

yes it is an .mp3, or what was labeled as such. You can change any file's extension easily. I still use lime and I know what I'm doing with it. The only way one would possibly "know what they are doing" is if you take notice that the filename directly matches your search query. That's how you tell mostly.

Can't we just come to the conclusion that there is a site, Haxor is the owner.
Legal or not, who cares.
Trust me, if there is, or not, any risk.. He's well aware of it.
A standalone .mp3 file can't hurt you if there is no exploit, which I doubt there is.
If you still think a standalone .mp3 can be virus, then a .jpg, .png, .wav could also be so.

Yes, I have thought this through. You haven't really done anything to earn my respect, or the respect of anyone else. Then you come barging in this thread and try to tell everyone that breaking the rules is bad? Really? Just leave.

I didn't say anything about breaking the rules. I'm talking about breaking the law. I don't care what you think of me.

I suppose you are either 12 years old, or have some disability.
Don't waste your time trying to report people here. Waste your time telling drug dealers that they are breaking the law, then calling 911 in front of their faces.

I suggest to snap out of this attitude very, very fast.
It'll not get you anywhere, I've seen it before, and it doesn't end well.

I Agree, that "police" attitude isn't welcomed in here at all…
Laws are rules written in stone basically? Just higher priority through choice of words…
haha, "It's only illegal if you get caught."
@Haxor, I think I got my mic issue fixed? I'm not entirely sure. What do you usually talk on?

Unless you change the extension to .exe [/etc], an mp3 file cannot harm you.
I like the youtube downloads; handy!

UGH! Again, the file doesn't have to originate as an .mp3, if it's coded properly through hex, you can get a file of .mp3 to execute harmful code. Go download some of these off limewire and tell me I'm wrong.

nice bump! :f: inducing infringement = illegal. Legit claim, but I can't file a DMCA complaint, as only the original copyright owner can do that. I only reported it to those, that will inform the original copyright owners.

I've filed a complaint with dreamhost about this site. Streaming playback requires written authorization from the copyright owners. The servers are in LA, and need to comply with the law. And I don't see you have a CC license either.
Hahahaaaaa.
Look at little Mr. poisonous righteous! You should go see a doctor, they might be able to remove that giant dogma dildo you have rammed up your arse! Life is gonna run you over with a 18 wheeler in a few years mate, take all the nice advice people have been giving you and smarten up.
Not that you believe that. But that's ok, 18 wheelers usually rape you while yelling surprise. You can only snitch for so long before it catches up with you.
Makes you feel powerful though doesn't it. You and the supreme authority are buddy buddy aren't you. You like the little measly scraps of power that get tossed to you, and they like having whores to boss about. Your a stray mongrel whining for the pathetic tidbits that no one else will touch. But you think your king of the world! So high! Your RIGHT and everyone else is WRONG! The law/God/your parents says so
AND THEY MUST BE RIGHT! How does it feel to be so wrapped up in a cocoon of complete and utter
ignorance that you feel untouchable? How does it feel to never have even glimpsed the shameful role you play?
You call it being a hero, I and everyone else calls it being a little bitch. But of course, you only care about your pimp's opinion… :sasmokin:

Just wanted to point out that his site acts as an indexer for third-party hosting sites, which currently in the US is considered legal (though that could eventually change depending on how the isohunt.com trial goes). While the RIAA could file a DMCA complaint, they technically don't have the right to although you would have to be willing to go to court to prove it, which is why they only go after websites that can't (and why Google will never go down :p).
Also, MP3 files can't open popups or change their own file extension, though .FLV files and .MOV files can open popups depending on the player that you use.
Edit: uncfan, you should read some of

I thought the website was hosted on DreamHost? x10media was the mp3 file server wasn't it?

x10media is the company that wrote the script. It's getting that message because either he pirated it, or the authentication server is down. I'm thinking the auth server might be down because the site that they link to as an example on their page for the live demo is giving the same message as well.

Long time no see widget, thanks for clearing things up. Sorry too all users but the auth for x10media is down. I have filed a complaint and everything should be fixed up in about 6-8hours. Sorry for the downtime, x10media are one of the worst company's ive dealed with. For the price, they give you a shabby script that always needs fixing. Its doing my head in.

There are no viruses to infect MP3 audio files.
Straight from
F-Secure.
The only way to make an mp3 cause trouble would be to overflow the media player's buffer, which wouldn't make for a 'universal' virus. It would affect one, maybe two players, but no more. For example, the iPod virus that went around a few years ago. Some crafty individual figured out how to perform a buffer overflow and execute proprietary code on the ipod. But it couldn't affect you if you played the file with, say, winamp. Do you even understand how virii work?
Since MP3 files are not executable, the only way a virus could theoretically spread in an MP3 file would be to exploit a flaw in the software used to play the MP3 file.
There are hundreds -if not thousands- of diffent types of software you can use to play MP3 files, so any potential virus would only be able to affect one of these programs.
Hoaxkill
You MAY get a virus through a hole in your email client or by opening/executing an attachment, just like you MAY get a virus through an MP3 player with a hole
in it or perhaps by clicking on a file you THOUGHT was an MP3. Computer
literacy and due diligence is required. Keep your MP3 player (and email
client) up-to-date to prevent things like this.

I wish to know when you will fix this problem
Oh and then I went to recover my password and it kept saying emails dont match, even though it was SAVED on firefox.
Please update this thread when it will be fixed
