What's going on?

Several post with offensive language, spam content, brutal images, have been posted recently. I'm sure that this is made by one person, not different users. Since the posts will probably get deleted, I'll post pictures:

ian., <insert invisible char here> and ABC.def.GHI were the responsible users. Can a mod/admin verify their IP's?

The mean of this post: What we could do in this situations? I propose a way to hide the post or something. Because like after ~15 minutes Hobbit came to stop this situation. Are we allowed to infarct them as 'Spamming into junior members' to suspend them? because that's the only(along plagarism) way to suspend a user for us. Or a way to directly suspend them for a determined period of time. I know that we have wait for an administrator or moderator to ban and delete these posts, but we are lots of SSRL that could help. Your thoughts?

Well when I saw Ian was spamming I like to do inappropriate things to horses, I quickly infracted him for spamming into Jr. members (not his account, abcdefg). Then just told YoHoJo and linked him to the posts to delete.

I think we can ban people if they are breaking the rules like that, if that is your question.

Edit: Guess I kind of skimmed your question. Hiding posts would be kind of a smart thing for situations like these. Only to be used for inappropriate spam.

Cazax it was much much sooner then 15 minutes. I was talking to ian on msn when he was posting so my response was nearly instantaneous. And all 3 accounts were ian and have since been dealt with.

I (personally) would preffer you from refraining from spam infracting to ban someone when there are admins and mods readily available. Yohojo and I were both on the forums at the time and Wizzup, yohojo, and I were active on IRC. It is not hard to find a staff member so there is no need to do such things.

So I shouldn't have stopped him?

He had posted 3 times in 3 minutes I like to anally rape horses thousands of times in each post, all in different threads. I temp banned the account to prevent him from posting any more, and linked YoHoJo to the posts to delete. I just figured I'd quickly stop him before he made any more inappropriate posts, and then you guys could make the final decision on what should be done.

I'll just tell a staff member next time then.. Sorry.

There is no need to be sorry, you did what you thought needed to be done, which is good. Yeah I was busy trying to get rid of the worse ones with the pictures and ban the stupid null char account, that was a pain to do.

Yeah if theres staff around, let one of em know as thats what we're here for. ;)
But if theres none, do what you can.

Yes I think he was. What has happened to him? Has somebody talked to him?

Hobbit told me he was fine and that his intent was to not come back to SRL, so I just think this was one big cry for attention so he could be permanently banned from the forums.

The powers SSRL have been given are indeed generally not for this purpose.
If you are 100% sure that there are no staff members active, you can use these powers as an exception. But in this case, I think there were like 5 staff members active? :)

I'd just like to point out that albeit there having been staff members online, JAD still performed the action we later or would have performed anyway. Although it would have been more appropriate to just simply nudge a staff member into action, the decision to ban was not a wrong one.

Thus why in that post I apologized and said I would just tell a staff member next time…

But I still do not understand.. If we cannot infract a Jr. member account (I had no way of knowing was Ian) for posting inappropriate spam 3 times (which according to the rules, each deserves 1 infraction, thus temp banning the user), then why do we have these powers? What is the purpose of these powers then, Wizzup?

I am some what baffled as to why you felt the need to make that post. Everything you said there I already agreed to do in the future in the same post you quoted, and even apologized for it.

The powers are there to infract a person for Offensive Language and similar offences, not to repeatedly infract someone until he is suspended.

Is it wrong to voice my opinion, even though someone else has already voiced his…?
