Tip for macroing :P

Well, this is probably damned obvious, but here goes.
There are heaps of adblockers you can get, but if you use Firefox, get "Adblock" (no, not adblock plus)
Then use it to block *every* ad and *every ad script* on runescape.com, say by using a *advert.runescape.com* filter, that should make it go a lot faster + It will make F2p look *exactly* like a P2p page, because the ad is *removed* from the page, not just forced not to load.
:)
Also try blocking the background, and you get awesome loading times.
Might be good for macroing.

This might get u banned faster. Rule 15.
I think blocking adds rather than removing at all is safer.

it wont effect macroing at all ^^ so why break a rule… when its not neceserry

Well depending on your connection and computer speed, it may be necessary.

Jagex can't detect if your blocking ads to my knowledge.. I have blocked their advertisements using AdBlock for a long time, I've never heard of someone being banned for it. Also, some of the ads require you to update your flash player to play.

If it is not already updated, something could pop up in the middle of the screen telling you to update, obviously this can mess up your autoing session.

Lol, agreed, I've had that happen before.

And no, Jagex can't detect you blocking ads.

hmm i would guesse it ment to let the site give you pop ups and ads.

I'd leave them in, since 9/10 they wont actually affect the scripts.

Holy cow, people here seem to like Linux too.
Yay!
My faith in the world is restored.
:)
I use Ubuntu, myself :)

In reply to everyone else's response to this, I'm just referring to the fact that it sometimes helps increase performance. I find that SCAR's performance coupled with RuneScape's notorious lag on lower performing computers kills VMWare for me. Its not so bad, but I try to do it on my Linux server box, and I find that if I block the ads, and some of the images on the site, I get ridiculously faster loading times on the main pages, mainly because it means that its mostly text-based, as opposed to image based, once you get rid of most of the ads and "adblock" the backgrounds on the page.
Personally, for me, it just tends to increase overall experience, too. I like to check back when I'm macroing, and make sure everything is going smoothly, but I prefer not to see blaring flashing red banners saying "You're the 1,000,000th visitor to this website! CLICK HERE TO CLAIM A PRIZE!!".
Thanks for your comments, and for bringing up a fairly interesting debate:
To block, or not to block. :P

Off-topic: HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH, and you call yourself a Linux user…

Teehee. :P
Ubuntu isn't all that power-user or too pro, but still, I gotta admit, its just nice not to have to put up with windows all the time, and the fact that I can get away from whinedoze.
I'm probably going to look into Fedora Core, Mandriva etc, but for now, I'm happy with what I use.
:P
Still Off-topic:
Wait… I didn't once say I was a Linux user…
Maybe there's a perfume called Ubuntu? And I was referring to that and commenting on how people like Linux?

TOB

It was implied. ;)

Though I don't use Linux on a regular basis I still wouldn't touch Ubuntu…

this is going to sound really noobish :p but what do you click on/where is it that you click on to stop adds using mozilla? it does help stop a lot of lag when using scripts I imagine :p if anybody could help me out, it would be appreciated :)

ATTENTION! if you burn somebody, you don't say burned anymore, thats oldschool, you say :google: -put this in your sig
if you don't understand something.. :google: if you still don't understand something, :google: again. if that didn't help, do what my avatar says

:google: :spot:

Search for the Add-On 'Adblock' or 'Adblock Plus' you may have to configure it to block certain ads, not hard.

Edit: I got ad blocker plus.. but its not blocking ad ons. what do I need to add to the filter to block the runescape images?

I like blocking ads. My client i built in c# blocks ads from sight and stops them while loading. I used to get alot of errors with javascripts because of gay ads before.

Ad Block Plus blocks the javascripts…

SonOfSheep

2007-03-16 11:59:30

Yah. But i made my client. I just like programming for the sake of programming. Jagex made it too easy to bypass their servers page, and how will they know? On their worlds page it uses javascript to display all of the worlds. Theres a huge list of functions like e(w,m,l,h,p); and they all correspond to World number, members 1 or 0, location, server address, and number of players. It's as easy to load world data as splitting at the e's. If they had a way to ban every IP that went directly to the server page they would lose like 40% of players. It's just in the rules to scare you.

Click the big ABP icon. I prefer the regular Adblock 1, as opposed to Adblock Plus, because I can block things even on a popup window, but thats just my choice.
+ I don't like huge icons on the side of my window.
