Just after a quick look, no

Goods:
  • TPA usage.
Bads:
  • No multilayer.
  • Reflection for such an easy thing(not a big problem, but …).
  • I can see some coding inefficiency/problem that might not do what you want. I am not sure, at the moment. If no one points them out I will do it tomorrow after a deeper look.
  • Too short and simple to show us what you can do.
  • No walking.^
  • Not the best standards.

That's all I can think of now.
But you are on the good way. Keep up learning and you will get in.

EDIT: You should also localize some variables such as TPAs and ATPAs to the functions where you use them.

just a little note, i could make this multi player, but i use it for only one acc.

at the bottom, all id need to do is change 'terminatescript' to 'nextplayer' and add in a few more accounts.

other then that, thx for your honest assesment i will keep my studys up lol

It seems as if you're implying that including reflection automatically drastically decreases his chances…

Sorry bionicle, I'm going to vote no because it's a bit too simple + what Sabzi said. Keep working hard and I don't doubt you'll get in someday though ;) Good Luck

I don't think most would, I've only seen 2-3 vote no stating using reflection as one of their biggest reasons. Even if that's true, everyone has their own vote, which is why I questioned why you stated it as a reason.

Using reflection or not means nothing. For example, I don't know TPAs, or even BMPs for that matter (never bothered to read a tut on them ^_^), nor have I ever made a color script. But I have a scripter's cup.

Sure in this case it doesn't matter much, the script is too simple in itself to show the scripter's abilities, I'm just bringing this up to open the door to future applicants.

A lot of the time when someone says its too simple, its because reflection is used, which makes it simple in some cases.

And Bionicle, sorry, but this is a bit too simple. Try making it more advanced, and remember to make it multiplayer for your next application.

In this case, however, cycro said 'it includes reflection' and confirmed that that was what he meant in his next post. There have been posts (on other apps) like 'No, it uses reflection', which is why I'm bringing it up.

Sorry to hijack your thread, bionicle :o

i must vote No, because the script is just so simple.
And just a hint, if you use reflection, i suggest you make it 100% reflection because hybrid scripts don't make any sense.

EDIT: also, almost all your variables are global. you should avoid using global variables.

Well i vote 'no', for Sabzi's reasons, I have nothing against the usage of reflection. But dude, add more TPAs, multiplayer, maybe some walking and my vote is definitely a 'YES'~;)

Blumblebee

2009-09-05 07:57:07

I am impressed to be honest, your quite good at what you know, however with the simplicity of the script and yet the complexity of the functions leads me to believe that some of it may be copied (I'm not accusing, its just how I am currently viewing it). However with that said, it still is too basic for me to hand out a yes regardless. Your usage of reflection is done smartly, however I think if you worked a while to deturmine the player mining without the use of reflection you would be closer to obtaining a yes.

Add some (color) walking, and a few more complex functions and you will have my vote. Good luck with this application and future applications (if it comes to that).

I must say its good for what it is, but if you convert that script into something that banks, I think it would be a rather good script. Im going to vote no because its too short, if you expand it with the same coding style Ill be happy to vote yes.

Good job, Just remember to go over this thread to see what you done wrong if you dont get members (Well THB, you didnt do anything wrong xD, maybe just multiplayer but you stated that you use that script for your personal use and expand it).

Hello bionicle1800,

My first impression on your script was the Tpa, good to see that you understand them, that's a huge step, but anyways your script has a lot of negative parts, First of all its reflection, not that reflection sucks, actually reflection + color makes it perfect, but it makes us feel bad, that's because reflection is very easy to use, anyways…. Well, lets say its good as it is, now lets pass to the next step, walking… reflection without walking is like a computer without a Anti-Virus, If you're going to improve this script then please add some walking and banking.

Your standards are almost perfect…

begin
cleardebug;
SetupSRL;
declareplayers;
GraphicsSet := True;
if not loggedin then loginplayer;
makecompass('n'); // Why did you make some space here?
SetAngle(True); // and here..

[-------- Cut --------]

xp := round(exp);
xda := 2;
If Weild Then
DropAll // you need some space here.
else

Beside of that, your standards are pretty damn fine, you have a nice instruction design, i like to have it clean in the start, you are using declare players, but not using multiple players, there are some people that vote no, just because of that, you use a small anti ban there, you should improve it a bit :), You use a lot of If and If Not that's good.

ore := ore + 28

You could replace that with:

IncEx(Ore, 28);

Is a bit faster, and looks more advanced ;). Your Progress report is very small and looks so basic, you should improve it with stuff like TimeRunning, Padr and maybe some small design there so it looks Pro, how do you think i got to the SRL members ;)? Here's a small example:

WriteLn('[----------------------------------------------------------------------------]');
WriteLn(padr('[ Total Time Running: ' + TimeRunning, 77) + ']');
WriteLn(PadR('[ Total Loads Done: ' + IntToStr(loads), 77) + ']');
WriteLn(PadR('[ Total Ores Mined and Banked: ' + IntToStr(Ores), 77) + ']');
WriteLn(PadR('[ Total Experience Gained: ' + FloatToStr(TotalExp), 77) + ']');
WriteLn('[----------------------------------------------------------------------------]');

That's all, At the moment, its a No from me, but i want more from you, in the future, you have the talent, you can do much more then this. Hope to see you again after one month, till then, Good Luck and Have Fun.

Hey, App looks good. Just some st00f:

1) Why do you need this?:

wait(50+(50));

Are you meant to make it random? If so, it should be:

wait(50+Random(50));

2) In your FindIron() procedure I fail to see the point of this:

GetMousePos(X, Y);

As: you don't assign it to anything, nor does it need to be used, as you add randomness to the before MMouse proc.

3) This:

  If Weild Then
ore := ore + 28
else ore := ore + 27;

To:

  If Weild Then
ore := ore + (27 + Integer(Weild));

:)

4) No multi-player, script lacks failsafes :/. Plus it is pretty short dude :(.

We need to see some walking involved. It's clear from this application that you are up to speed with TPA's which is great! You also tend to 'randomly' capitalize bold letters (see sig :D), which in it's self is epic.

Sorry, it is a no, but keep up the work :)

Voted no because it includes reflection…? If there was a 'Bad judge' cup I'd grant it now. Please take more time to think about your votes as this is not the first time a member of staff or another SRL Member has pointed out your rather odd way of voting. Perhaps take the time to re-learn the voting style.

Bionicle, i find the script amazing for the amount of time and posts you have here. It is not yet enough to get you members, however you are definitely a promising newcomer.

I suggest you keep on reading tutorials, as you obviously have done, and put more time into your script. Add more features to it. The talent is all there, now we just want to see a longer, well thought out script.

I voted yes.

Hey, don't not put Reflection in your next script because Cycrosism is being an idiot - like I said, he should be banned from voting. Reflection does make scripting easier, but that doesn't mean you can't include it as a failsafe. Making a colour script, then including Reflection as a failsafe would show us even more of your skills, and what you can do. Just ignore Cycrosism… -.-

EDIT: I thought I should probably add something to that. :p So, I think you are on the right track, and listen to what the member's say, most of them know what their talking about. I also agree with what R1ch said about reflection. Although in my opinion, using straight color does show much more SCAR knowledge. Also, my guide (thanks for reading btw :D) is all color, no reflection. But from everything you learn in that guide, you should easily be able to make the script you want to, and I know you'll get into members next time.

You're definitely promising, but your script is a bit too simple for members. I voted no, sorry.

Just a tip: Some people do vote "no," just because they see reflection, as you have seen. If you remove reflection, not only do you appease these people, but you get to be creative with how you solve problems with scripting. Creativity greatly increases your chances of being accepted.
(Example: I used the chatbox with failsafes to see when I started/finished mining. The methods for all of the checking/etc. comprised at least 75 lines of my script and impressed quite a few of the readers. This upped my chances of a 'Yes' far more than a simple pre-made function)

Keep at it, you're on the right track; can't wait to see your app next month, ;)

There is nothing wrong with my way of voting, but I just think that if someone uses reflection, they are not learning about SRL. You can say they are learning about SRL but reflection is just not good to use for member apps.

Colour can find objects, walk to places, you know just about do anything reflection can. I know there are some things colour can't do that reflection can but when I was going to use reflection in my members app someone told me "It's really bad if you use it you won't get SRL members" I cannot remember who told me this.

I do accept the fact that I am a hard voter, and most of the time I vote no, but this is the second application I have only voted no to because of reflection. If I see a lengthy script with DDTMS, Bitmaps, TPAs and other good features then I will vote yes. Most of the time I vote no because of 3 things.

1. Script to simple/short
2. Not enough advanced techniques
3. reflecction

Also, I got flamed/derepped because I voted no on an application when the person only had a post count of 4. I do not see why I should of gotten flamed, etc, when the person wasn't even a junior member yet.

It is good that the person has a reasonable post count and has contributed to the SRL community, we don't want a person with a post count of 4 becoming an SRL member then downloading all the scripts (Not saying that he would of) then leaving do we? God knows what a person would do with them. That person could distribute them to other autoing communities such as sythe.

Now, I am not saying that this person would do that, just pointing out that we don't want people like this.

There is nothing wrong with the way I vote, I am who I am. Most SRL members don't even vote, although I check the application section every day or sometimes twice a day and I share my opinion and I vote yes or no.

Most people here hate the way you vote simply because you always post something like "voted no because it doesn't compile", "voted no because he has a low post count", "voted no because he uses reflection". That is simply idiotic. You shouldn't vote no for small reasons like that.

If you're going to vote no, maybe try at least explaining a little, and think about actually looking at the scripts, and making some useful suggestions to the applicant. You aren't helping anyone by voting the way you do.
