Changing FFA , part 2

Folow up of the previous thread.

- Allow Power Skillers & non gatherers into FFA (meaning no banking WCers / miner / fishers / etc) but would allow (smithers / smelters / fletchers / etc)
- Allow all into FFA
- Make no change.

I would say allow the scripters to decide where they want their scripts.

Less regulations on who can use their scripts. If they don't mind their scripts being leeched, then I don't.

Yes, but do we want all the leechers here?

SRL/SCAR is hardly being used at all for autoing anymore. Once we release all scripts to FFA, are we instantly going to have thousands of people abusing every location in RS (to take it to an extreme :p)? I would guess not.

It would just encourage more of the guests who visit the site to register, get interested in SCAR/SRL, and possibly become scripters in the future, or at least some will provide feed back.

I voted for All also. I think JAD's point about activity sums up my feelings on the matter pretty well.

FFA is for everyone. Registered users is NOT a very high threshold to get access to better scripts.

If we dumped everything into FFA, then I think MANY more people would leech the scripts, leave with their goodies and never return. At least requiring them to wait a week may encourage them to read the forum a bit while they're trying out the powerskilling scripts. I think it's healthy to have tiers of scripts for people to look forward to, which is why I've always made mine SRL Members only. People can do what they want with their scripts outside SRL, but I support keeping collecting/banking scripts out of FFA here on the forums.

I say allow all. Only a few people would put their scripts in FFA anyway… there's a widespread anti-leech attitude here.

Narcle

2009-09-02 14:09:48

Many more people would want their script in FFA just for the attention and this could get out of hand.

Tara summed up my other thoughts as well.

Shit voted wrong, my one vote as Keep as is redirect to Non Gatherers & Power Skillers.

I say we get rid of FFA and just let registered users have access to Junior Member Scripts.

I think some people want more protection than that. I still say let people put scripts where ever they want.

That was the original suggestion, but at least this leaves the scripters with more of an option.

Bumping into new posts to hopefully get more votes. Once Narcle's vote is changed, it will be 5 to 4 between the allowing all and non gatherers. Although I think that if Nielsie's vote is going to count towards one of these categories, it would be the allow all since he proposed completely removing the section (which would make it 6-4).

Well, this poll definitely calls for a change.

7/6 votes for Allow All
5 votes for Power Skillers & Non-Gatherers

Considering that right now it only allows power skillers, allowing all is a big jump. Would those who voted for allow all be willing to first go to Non-Gatherers and see the reaction and if it is good then to All, or do you want to go directly to all?

I'd like to see a direct change. But thats only cos I voted for all.

Wizzup?

Go open once you actually have something new to show, and a working SRL on top of it. Opening up with half-working scripts isn't my idea of good marketing.

Why does it matter that it's a big jump lol? It's not like anybody is going to have a heart attack from shock.

We still need to decide which we will do (non gatherers or all), but I agree that we should wait on a decision until all scripts are fully functioning again.

I vote for All, people will know whether their scripts deserve to be in FFA. + JAD's post.

Yeah, let us wait for working scripts.

Can I be a mod if i change my vote? :p

Anyway, I think we should ask the regular srl members at least and see what they think too

Clearing out the very outdated and having even a small handful of working scripts would be a good start. As leechers aren't going to want to wade through several scripts to find a working one, having even just several scripts available would probably be good enough. I would be fine with adding more scripts in, as long as they are kept up to date or else removed when they're not.

I would be for that. I think that majority of SRL members would vote for 'all'. The members want to see their scripts being used, so any chance at having the choice on where their scripts go they would take.

I think that the poll options there should only include a 'all' and a 'non gatherers' option though. It is obvious that nothing isn't going to happen (double negative).

Why don't we have a couple sections in FFA to organize it a little bit better?

-Gatherers (woodcutters, miners, fishers…etc. with banking)
-non gatherers (fletchers, smelters…etc.)
-power levelers (fishers, miners, woodcutters, with dropping)
-Outdated scripts

?

This is if we do make the change for all. But it definitely should be as organized as possible, without needing to scroll through 20 categories either.

How about thread prefixes/tags? I believe you add several prefixes which mods can assign to a thread. For example an outdated prefix would give a red [Outdated] in front of the thread title.

http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/thread_prefixes

(I also proposed this for script categories, btw)

We already have one of these add-ons. Should i add a section to SSRL so we can see how these look?

edit: well until a decision is reached on that ^ , staff can have a look here. http://www.villavu.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=252

I think the best would be using 2/3 categories: Gatheres (if we do that) , Non Gatherers, Outdated and then we'd use the thread prefixes as [Skill] Thread Name

~RM

nielsie95

2009-09-05 22:41:49

It's no add-on ;)
Also note that you filter on prefixes on the bottom-left.

But it looks nice, plus it's easy to see if a script is outdated.

psshtt. i just went ahead and did something about them :) Care to finish it off, as you've been waiting since the stone age? :p

here is what i suggest

FFA
|
| - - Gatheres (if we allow them) [with skill prefixes]
|
| - - Non Gatheres [with skill prefixes]
|
| - - OutDated [with skill prefixes]

They always got mad at me when I did that! :(

Meh well I wanted to use them in the tutorial island section instead of my improvised ones. But nope didnt want to enable it so I had to make my own prefixes :p

But I am still waiting for GARS to be installed (*COUGH* WIZZUP) then I may make some more prefix sets after GARS is all setup (*COUGH* WIZZUP)

JAD

Bump.

Is a thread/poll going to be made in the members section? Obviously, something is favored to happen based on the poll results, so what is the next step?

Wizzup?

2009-09-11 14:52:16

I still don't feel that adding GARS will do anything good.

I would like to see the junior rank gone, vs.making FFA a new junior rank.

JAD

2009-09-17 05:41:31

So what's the verdict?

This poll clearly points towards 'all' (should be like 12-7 if you count the remove the Jr. member rank as all instead).

The SRL members poll also points towards all.

Boreas

2009-09-17 07:09:19

Yea poll is clearly 'all'. I think that rep should be converted for feedback for jrs, at the same time or shortly after 'all' is implemented.
