100 mil / 10 mil would be 10%
Stupid jagex… 10% approval is pretty low

You need to take into account that many people have multiple accounts and stuff too, and they are just saying that having 10M people playing at any given time is amazing.

Maybe 10 million people registered, that don't even play, its the same with World of Warcraft, the box says over 6(8) million online, when it really means like 6 million people registered, half being trial users.
My 2 cents. (or whatever its called_:p)

I think it said something like 105 registered, and 10 active.

Lol, probably a lot more than you think. :p I've lost count of how many accounts I've made and macroed on. Most of the time, I forget the users and pass, due to never actually using them.
Anyway, I didn't know Jagex was that big.

Most of them are autoers
Proof? :/
Don't assume things, unless you have at least a small amount of proof..

I think a lot of the autoer's were in fact sweatshop people actually playing the game - lots of level 3 - 5 characters.
There was an article a while back stating that these people were made to play Runescape day after day - i.e fishing at Catherby where lobbies were sold to generate gold that was then re-sold for cash on the web.
Having just started playing again, I notice that many of these are now gone.
Just my thoughts
Probably 1-5 million active players at max in my opinion. A huge part of those 105 million have probably never logged in, or have been used once or so, and you need to also count in the people that have quit and all their accounts and of course banned accounts and so on.. Not really that massive IMO, and probably 80% of the active players aren't members either.
I'm amazed RS hasn't started to die yet, as the game is like it was from 1998 or something, but I guess they "recruit" most of their players through other players aka. kids telling other kids about this amazing game at school and they then start playing it because their friends do too, and looking at the general "chat" at RS I'm pretty confident most players are 8-12 years old.

Actually in 98 it was way different, or maybe not even out yet. There didnt used to be a tutorial island, used to pick if you wanted to be a warrior, mage or ranger, and of course RS2 came out not too long ago..

Ah, I remember that. I picked mage (or was it wizard?) when I started. Came in with level 10 magic right off the bat.

Where do they keep all this data of accs in? Anyway to manipulate it>?
Hmm if this many plays RS, and out of the ~ 2-3 million different active players (not counting multiple accs… and a rough guess), and a I would guess about 5000 active botters. (if any of my guesses are remotely correct, thank my instincts :))
Just make sure we get the bots for mechscape as well :).

umm it is popular… you can go almost anywhere in the us other countries that commonly play it and ask around and like 1/20th of all people younger then 20 older than 8 will know about it. I would say it is fairly popular, wow being the most popular.
