Continueing with IRC != Forums Policy?

In the past we have always had a IRC != Forums policy. Now I think ToF has a great idea as he has posted in this thread.
http://www.villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=50169

I think we should use that idea or make a specific section for IRC abuse complaints so it can be dealt with between the people involved without all the often useless jabber of other people.

Please do not hijack this thread and try to twist it into "me trying to hide my actions"
I've told you before, prove me wrong and I will apologize.

If you choose to use an IRC channel to resolve issues, please make a new one or have him revoke his founder status so he can't interfere with the running of the channel.

Also, if we're going ahead with the motion that "irc != forums", why would a section be created on the forums to specifically deal with irc issues? That just seems a little ironic and odd to me.

kz already proved you wrong in the banning of me?

No to separate IRC channel to settle disputes in. Posting on the forums is more permanent and unavoidable, and tends to get more people looking.

Is it just me, or do the bolded statements contradict each other?

Anywayz, I voted yes.

Thats what this is about, if we are going to go ahead and continue on that path or if we decide not to then a forum section could be an alternative.

Not really, he does not need to prove me wrong in this thread.
Also the second part was to answer him before he even brought it up

I have replied with PM so we can keep this thread on topic

I think that both should be implemented.

Some offenses should just stay on IRC. Blumblebee getting a temporary IRC ban for posting a link to something disrespectful obviously does not deserve any forum consequences. Therefore, it should be disputed on IRC (the new channel). Things that may deserve forum consequences (attempted hacking of accounts…etc. over IRC) should be posted here on the forums (In the new IRC disputes forum).

Basically, keep the little problems on IRC. If they are so big that they may deserve consequences here, then a thread should be posted.

I like JAD's version of the idea

We could make another form system

Widget

I think we just need a bit more structure in the IRC channel. Right now the system is "Ops can do anything they want except challenge other ops; Wizzup overrides everything."

I think the best method would be to remove everyone except Wizzup's ops. It would solve a lot of problems.

Is there even a need for so many ops? Nothing really ever happens in the channel anyway, and there's sexy to kick flooders (although the pointless badwords should be removed), and if someone is being annoying you simply ignore them, or if they start posting nsfw pictures just don't click them anymore.

No to the subforum idea, it would just lead to people filling out forms for stupid shit like "person x called me a y", "op x kicked/banned me for no reason" etc. We get next to no spillover into the forums from IRC anyway, its only the last couple of days everyones gone nuts for some reason

Yeah, I would agree with that. R0b0t1 proposed an ok idea, but I think you need more than 1 op.

Liking the restructuring idea.
Oh and I always thought that IRC != Forum, but past incidents have revealed that there apparently was some things someone could do, but only seems to have applied then…

If we did both, then that would keep the smaller issues on IRC (read my post above).

Everyone on IRC is also apart of the forums, so if something major happens there, I don't see why it shouldn't be allowed to affect them here. Like I said, if somebody was using IRC to account hack, wipe out computers…etc., then consequences here may also be appropriate.

*Cough* Harry *Cough*

I like the idea, Chris. Idk, some things do need to be placed on here, as just because they aren't involved directly with the forums doesn't mean they are clean here.

If someone Scammed on Sythe, would we let them knowingly stay here? No, probably not.

My… 30 cents?

Widget brought up a good point, pointing out the flaws in the current system.

R0b0t1's brought up a good idea with the restructuring of the IRC.

mixster needs to switch back to the pussy.

I think I have some marijuana growing out by the side of my house.
