you know in cartoons the good and bad of people are always depicted as a little devil and a little angel on their shoulder? well, 'Idt', pronounced 'id', is the devil. your 'super ego' is the angel. it is your concious. i'll give an example:

say you go to a college party. there is alot of alcohol there. your super ego tells you not to drink because you need to drive home and it's bad for you. then your idt tries to reason and settle a deal with the super ego. you see a fishbowl full of keys. your idt says, 'put your keys in there, then you wont go driving till your sober!' and the super ego goes 'sounds good to me' and you party it up!!

some psychologists say that our 'idt' is a device inside all human bent on destroying ourselves. otherwise, why would we go out and punch a wall when we are mad? drink ourselves to death when depressed? kill our brains for a 'high'? any other theories on this? agree, disagree?

No, no, Scientology hates psychology… well, all psychology that is not their psychology.

There is no part bent on destroying ourselves. There is, however, a part that does not see death as a bad thing, simply as a tool.

As for the examples you mentioned, though, those are relics left over from instincts, as a show of aggression. If the chimp next to you just chipped a rock with his hands would you fuck with him?
