I've read a book about it by stephen hawkin :'D… I'm probably not able to explain everything in english *__* (german book). But i can tell you that time is an existing variable.
Yeah. Time is variable and depends on the "framework". Time passes slower, if you move faster and When you're traveling faster than the light, it passes by faster (Hope i got it right :D…. Dont take my word for it ). Albert einstein explained it all with his "main-theory".. however thats called in english :'D…

oh sorry. i dodnt explain that right. just realized it. time does exist, it's the past that doesnt exist. that is why time travel, sadly, will never be possible.
the faster you move, the slower the time around you moves. albert einstein theorized that if you put one of a pair of identical twins in a rocket and send you the twin and hundreds of miles per hous, hurtling through space, when the twin returns, he would be younger thatn the twin that stayed on earth.

The past is the only thing that does exist, in our minds.. >_> I don't know how that makes sense to you. I was typing this, and it's real. And I just exhaled. The CO2 that I exhale was there. We don't know what will happen in the future, and it hasn't happened, therefore, it doesn't exist. And the present isn't achievable by us, because things happen, and it takes us a small amount of time to realize they happened. Just like stars exploding. That can happen millions of years ago. The star is there (well, we think it is because we can see it there), but in reality, it's not there. It's past.

Logically impossible, but maybe not physically impossible.
The Grandfather Paradox can be explained by several other theories, one of which is the Many Worlds theory or Restricted Action resolution. Of course, they might not even be true. The whole realm of time travel is just so beyond our comprehension.

i realy think that time is just an idea our minds make up to understand the world around us. The closest deffinition i could come up with for time is the rate at which matter passes through space. and a rate isnt anything on its own, its just a measurement of things.. so yeah time does not exist on its own but only in our heads :D

Matter exists, therefor motion exists, therefor energy exists, therefor time exists.
With out motion there would be no matter (sub-atomic particles), with out energy there would be no motion, and with out time there would be no motion.
Theory of mutual interaction, with out any there would be none. Time is 100% as real as the keyboard you're typing on. The past the present in the future all exist but are offseted from your point of view because information transfer is not 100% instant because of E=MC*C.
Accept this, if you believe time doesn't exist you are also believing that nothing exists. Long stretch?
Surely your theology tells you otherwise.
Something my friend with to much time on his hands wrote:
a short essay i have written proposing a theory i call The Theory of Mutual Interaction
Category: Writing and Poetry
A Theory on the Universes State of Observable Existence
I am proposing a theory that states everything in the universe is made up of four fundamental concepts and that these concepts are interdependent. The first fundamental concept is mass, which is essentially a quantity of matter. Matter is everything that makes an impression on the universe and occupies space.
Matter cannot exist without its counterpart (the 2nd fundamental concept) energy because all matter is mass and all mass is energy. Energy = Mass * Speed of Light². Energy does not contain matter or mass, energy is a potential force. There are four potential forces that make up energy, the 1st force is gravity and it shows that matter makes impressions on the universe. It is not very important in proving or disproving my theory, but it does help me in providing evidence that matter would not exist without gravity, which is a potential force of energy. If matter did not make impression on the universe then it would not have mass and in turn matter would not exist and the force of gravity would not either (because it only exists because mass exists). The force of gravity needs matter to exist and if it did not exist than we would only have three forces that make up energy. As you will read in the next paragraphs none of the four forces would exist without matter and matter would not exist without all of them.
The 2nd force is electromagnetism and it is responsible for keeping the atom together and stabilized. The atom is the smallest particle of an element. An element is the same thing as a substance that cannot be separated into different substances by ordinary chemical methods; all matter is composed of such substances. So, matter is composed of substance, substance is composed of elements, elements are composed of atoms, atoms are held together by electromagnetism, electromagnetism is one of the four potential forces that make up energy, and a force that is applied to sustain matter is kinetic energy. Kinetic energy is energy in motion, and motion can only exist in time, I will come back to this point later. If the force of electromagnetism did not keep atoms together than all the matter that is composed of atoms (which is all matter) would transform into kinetic energy (it has been done before in the atomic bomb and nuclear fission). If the atom did not have electromagnetism to keep it together than the matter it makes up would be energy. If matter did not exist then electromagnetism wouldn't either because electromagnetisms sole purpose is to interact with matter. Therefore, electromagnetism and gravity (as I explained before) would not exist and we would only have two forces.
The 3rd force I will mention is weak interaction (weak force) and it is responsible for transfiguring unstable particles into stable ones by way of radioactive decay (exchange of w and z bosons). If weak interaction did not exist than all matter would eventually become unstable and transform into energy and once again if matter did not exist than weak interaction would not either because its only purpose is to stabilize matter, and that leaves only one force.
The 4th force is strong interaction (strong force) and I have saved this one for last because it has the most to prove. Strong interaction is responsible for keeping protons and neutrons together by way of quarks (and keeping the quarks together). Quarks are the building blocks of protons and neutrons (quarks are fundamental particles along with leptons, and possibly electrons). Protons and neutrons are the building blocks of the nucleus. The nucleus is the center and heart of an atom. There are three quarks in every proton and neutron and if strong interaction did not exist to keep the protons and neutrons together by way of the quark than the three quarks could not keep themselves together either (this leaves the question of what would happen if quarks were separated seeing that they rely on each other to have a mass in space at all). If the protons and neutrons could not stay together then the nucleus would cease to exist and it would become energy just as with electromagnetism and weak interaction. If strong interaction did not exist than all matter would become energy and if matter did not exist than strong interaction would not either because its purpose is to keep the nucleus together by way of the quarks. The four potential forces that make up energy cannot exist without matter, which means that energy itself cannot exist without matter because energy is made up of these four potential forces. Now I would like to explain the 3rd and 4th fundamental concepts.
If you remember I mentioned the equation Energy = Mass * Speed of Light². Matter is essentially energy and they cannot exist without each other they really are one in the same, but I will explain to you that time also fits in with them. It is the 4th fundamental concept (I will come back to the 3rd concept in a moment). If energy and mass are the same thing than why is it that the speed of light is incorporated in the equation shouldn't it just be Energy = Mass? Well no, the main reason that this is not true is because you do not get the same proportion of energy as you do mass. Instead, huge amounts of energy come out of tiny amounts of mass. Another reason (the one that has to do with my theory) that the equation Energy = Mass doesn't work is because it does not incorporate time and motion, but the speed of light does. As I said earlier motion can only exist in time because speed is the act of motion and Speed = Distance / Time (you cannot have speed without time). There is something very peculiar that happens when a mass travels at high speeds. The faster a set mass goes the heavier it becomes (the potential force of gravity exerts more force on the set mass). Even more peculiar is that the faster that mass goes the slower time becomes, for that set mass, and the faster time goes by for every other set mass relative to the mass in motion. If the speed of light is breeched then time will began to go back for that set mass (this is impossible though because when you reach the speed of light gravity would exert such a force on the set mass that it would need an infinite amount of propulsion energy to continue its motion). Time is not as unchangeable as some would think; it is as prone to change as the other fundamental concepts, it is also apparent how mass is effected by extreme speed. Another example of time changing (along with the other fundamental concepts) its usual stability relative to its counterparts (the other fundamental concepts) is in black holes.
Black holes are stars that have become unstable and collapsed under there own gravity. Their concentrated point of density is so massive after collapsing that they seem to literally break a hole in the universe, and their gravity is so intense that even light cannot escape it. When anything is sucked in by a black hole's gravity (besides mass and the force of gravity itself) it ceases to exist. This includes three of the potential forces of energy and time itself, it also includes motion. I believe that this occurs because mass and the kenetic energy of gravity become so overwhelming that there is no space for time, motion, and the other potential forces of energy to exist to keep the universe stable (they just become incorporated into the black hole as mass and gravity). The stability of the fundamental concepts is broken (to contain the stability of the universe). As I showed before, the same instability occurs when motion is taken to the extreme.
Since motion is related to time (because motion only exists in time and if motion didn't exist than time would have nothing to be relative to, also making it none existent) it is also related to energy and mass. Motion is the 3rd fundamental concept. Now I will give more evidence on how motion relates with time and how they both relate with the other fundamental concepts.
A good example of how motion and time relate with each other and the other fundamental concepts is through Newton's 2nd Law of Motion. First I will show you exactly what acceleration is. Acceleration is final velocity – initial velocity / change in time (velocity is just speed in a given direction, and speed is just a measure of motion). You cannot have acceleration without time and motion. Now, getting back to Newton, his 2nd Law of Motion states that Force = Mass * Acceleration. Many would think that force (in the context of this equation) is not the same 4 potential forces of energy but it really is. The interaction of the 4 potential forces of energy with matter creates motion and in the case of gravity, acceleration. With gravity the accumulation of enough mass puts pressure on the universe and causes other masses to accelerate towards that accumulated mass. With the other 3 forces electrons and quarks (which can account to be involved in all 3) move at incredible speeds all the time, creating the mass's and forces stability to interact with each other. When a mass of atoms (composed of the fast moving electrons and quarks) compose a living creature that creates a force described in Newton's equation that creature is essentially using at least two of the potential forces of energy to do it (because at the subatomic level what ever kind of force it is exerting is a product of at least electromagnetism to keep the atom together and strong interaction to keep the nucleus together). In conclusion of my example of how Newton's equation (Force = Mass * Acceleration) can show the relation between the four essential concepts is this.
Force cannot exist without energy because energy creates these forces and these forces are what energy is. Energy cannot exist without mass (Force = Mass * Acceleration). Energy cannot exist without acceleration (Force = Mass * Acceleration) and acceleration is motion in time which means energy cannot exist without motion and time. Matter (mass) cannot exist without motion because motion is essential (with quarks and electrons) for stabilizing matter and not having it turned into energy which also cannot exist without motion. I will now give a quick review on the 4 fundamental concepts and how they are all interconnected
Without mass energy cannot exist because energy is made up of 4 potential forces and their sole purpose is to stabilize and contain mass. Without energy mass cannot exist because mass relies on the 4 potential forces of energy to stabilize and contain itself. Without energy and mass, motion can not exist because motion is the movement of mass and energy. Energy and mass could not exist without motion because potential energy needs motion to carry out kinetic forces that stabilize mass. Time cannot exist without mass, energy, and motion simply because time exists because there is mass, energy, and motion (time would not be relative to anything without mass, energy, and motion, and with nothing to be relative to time would always look the same it wouldn't change and time is change). Mass and energy could not exist without time because they need motion to exist, and motion could not exist without time because motion only exists in time. It is a circle and I hope that it is now obvious that one cannot exist without the other, the other cannot exist without the one, and without these fundamental concepts the universe could not exist because the universe is these four fundamental concepts with there dimensions in space.
Finally I state my hypothesis and it is this. There are 4 fundamental concepts that make up the entire universe. The first fundamental concept is mass. The second fundamental concept is energy. The third fundamental concept is motion. The fourth fundamental concept is time. They are all interdependent and without one none would exist.

If time is nothing than so is motion, than so it matter, than so is energy, then so is everything which is not possible. Read about the theory of mutual interaction. Time is all relative, so goes on where ever you because it's impossible to reach 100% light speed. When things move faster they become more massive until they are going so fast they are the same mass as the entire physical universe…. time does slow down relative to its intial velocity approaching light speed and it has been proven with nuclear clocks.
Of course 1:00 pm 2pm 3pm is made up by man, do you think nature just said Divide your days by 24? no. just stupid… thats like saying english was mas man made, OF COURSE IT WAS. That's common sense.

It's easier to understand time if you treat it like any of the other spacial dimensions. Just like I can move left, I can move right. Just like I can move up, I can move down. Just like I can go forward in time, I can go backward in time. (And before you ask, I don't mean you can randomly time travel. You can't randomly fly up/down either, but it has the ability to be like that.)
Also, consider a random object. If you take different flat two-dimensional slices of that object they won't be the same, but it's the same object occurring at the same time. If you treat time as the fourth dimension, you find that you can see one object in two states just at different times, just as you'd see two of the flat pieces in different states from the same object at different spots.
It's unknown but assumed by many that time can move both directions, possibly at once. The problem is that if time were to move backwards from any position to any position, we would be unable to observe it because our memories go backwards as well and are unmade. Theoretically, if we were able to observe our own universe from outside the multi/universe, we would be able to see the time moving back and forth but that's impossible to do :p
What's more fun is the fifth dimension and up where you start seeing differences in times :D

The Memory of the past exists, but the past does not exist in time. The past has happened therefore is not in the present.
The present is what is happening simultaneously to yourself. What is the present? The present is the seconds when you are doing something, you can never say you are in the present because the present would have passed by the time you have said it.
The future does not exist in time because as I have stated the only thing that theoretically exists in time is the simultaneous (present) but then following that theory, the present does not exist.
If the past does not exist and the future does not exist (in time) and the present is between the past and the future then the present does not exist.

well this has some truth to it, but not completely. you see, the only thing that does exist
is the present. although, the present for me and the present for you are different. say we are standing next to eachother. then, someone fires a gun into the air a mile away. he hears the sound before us, and we hear it a bit after. this is because sound takes time to reach a spot fat away from it. the same with light, but light is much faster. so it's almost impossible for us to tell the present we are in the different than the present antoher person is in. it may be happening at the same time, but we recieve the information of the environment around us at different times. we may not know what is ever happening in the present, but it takes so little time for our brain to register light and sound, it makes almost no difference to us. :D

Time exists. Anyone can observe this by doing anything. Such anythings include throwing a ball, thinking, drinking lemonade, raging at Boxxy, playing Team Fortress 2, and reading this post, as well as everything else ever except dying.
Whether or not an observer from outside this universe would see time is another matter, but that is beyond the scope of care for pretty much everyone, save some theoretical physicists.
