Humm...Whats Needed?

:)

I got admin yesterday and immediately fixed a few things i had noticed were wrong a while ago already. Then JAD pointed me to polls that needed to be sorted out. Then Zeph pointed out a couple forums that were misplaced.

Has anyone else noticed any other thing of the kind? Or does anyone have any ideas in mind for any sort of project, etc?

Letting us edit our own thread titles would be awesome. Then we could put our own asterisks on suggestions that need granting.

Edit: Also your cup revamping system always sounded cool. I don't know if you would know how to implement that though.

Also, I just noticed. Is the calendar on the home page off by 24 hours too? I just noticed that it says it is Friday but really it is Thursday.

No Need to punch anymore ;)

About the time…. the forums would have to be closed. I just simply adjusted my GMT :p Instead of my usual GMT i set it to GMT - 7

There is no GMT -15/16 for me. :(

No not the time. I have the time adjusted for me but it is a whole day off. Right now my clock says 10:18am, when I post this it will be stamped with 10:18am. Today is Thursday, August 13th. The calendar shows (red squared around the date), Friday, August 14th. It says that is today.

I do have the option for GMT + 8 (to set the time correctly) but no one with the option of (GMT + 8) - 24 to revert back a whole day… :)

comprende?

Shows just fine for me;

It's something related with the time, therefore, the forums would have to be closed down for a day for this issue to be fixed. It's been discussed before and disregarded :p We'd rather have the wrong date by one day than going one day without SRL. :p

Are things like the Longevity/Activity bars in your power to fix?

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the 'Time Online' statistic that was formerly on our Profile has disappeared (Since the move, maybe). Would be nice to have it back.

Any chance on bringing any of that back? :)

EDIT: I'm not sure if this helps but

http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=177366

Seems like that's for 3.7, and here is 3.8… Don't see the same Add On for 3.8 :cartman:

I only want the longevity bars back, otherwise we'll experience a new wave of spam, especially from juniors and below. I've even seen people openly admit on the forums that they would spam 5 posts a day just to get their 5 points.

Hmm…

I think that EvilChicken! is right about the activity bar. Bringing back the longevity bar would be pretty cool though.

I don't know much about vB, but it seems as if that add on includes both (first thing's first – Would that even work on 3.8 :cartman:?) the activity and longevity bars. Unless somebody here would be able to modify that add on (might be easy, I wouldn't know), bringing just one back might not be possible.

EDIT: Oh something else you can do -

Explain :p

As we discussed the other day, editing our own thread titles (for mod - ) sort of defeats the purpose of a mod adding a * as we could feel tempted to always add it. Also, i did not (yet?) find an option in Admin CP to do so. If I do, i'll take it up with the rest of the staff, although i'd vote no.

My cup revamp system is complex and beyond my powers and (atm) capabilities to add, unfortunately. As we've seen on the latest threads i did in Cups & Suggestions the reported post method does look rather good.

You are able to add / del options from your polls. I see no need for you to be changing votes around, as that would be a mod+ job on request. Also, i feel that devs being Auto-SSRL already have more than enough forum powers. Staff <> Devs.

You sure non-mods can edit polls? IIRC they couldn't.

Tested, can't. But i didn't find a way where you'd be able to edit your own polls without being able to edit the votes too.

Anything else?

Black market shouldn't have subforums for buying/selling. Just sections for what is being traded.

I think he means just having general forums, like ones for accounts, gold, and services instead of subforums for buying and selling within each of those. People can put whether they're buying or selling each of those in their topic.

As in, seperate sections for gold transfer, accounts, etc and not for buying gold, selling gold and so on?

R0b0t1

2009-09-03 00:51:26

Yeah. Having those sections is rather pointless – for example, someone would simply post a thread in the buying forum instead of looking in the selling forum. People are stupid like that.

JAD

2009-09-03 01:01:59

I agree with R0bot on changing the forums to that. It makes sense, and considering the Black Market is SRL members only, there won't be so many threads that it becomes difficult to find the type of thread you are looking for (buying, or selling).

Fixing up stickies would be a good idea, especially in the Tutorial Island section. Like, for example, sticky

http://www.villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=47714

Instead of (outdated)

http://www.villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17890 and/or http://www.villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=400

And this for example appears to be in the wrong section (and is partially outdated, I suppose).

That's one section down, lots to go :p

JAD

2009-09-13 05:24:24

Removing some unnecessary forums would allow for a cleaner look. Hardware has 0 threads. Game consoles has 7 threads. Couldn't both these just be merged into the non sorted tutorials section? There is both a misc section, and a non sorted tutorial section. Aren't those both for the same thing? Tutorials that don't belong in any other sections?

Both the Archive sections should just be deleted and put into the out dated tutorials section. There are only a few threads in each of them.

That would clean it up a lot, because it would mean 5 less unnecessary forum categories. There's too many sections right now IMO.
