Hey there! :)
I am formatting my Computer today and I want to know how do YOU organize your files.
I've tried different ways.
Currently I am going to use this
I have a Download folder on a HD on my Network
All my download program will download the download files into that folder.
In that folder I have folders called "_DVD_Ready", "_Software","_Something","_Something" because of the _ they will stay at the top. I also have my Programming projects in it.
ps. In my _DVD_Ready file I have Iso's which I have made easier like auto install crack/serial/patch, everything you can imagine.
In short:
\\SERVER\USERNAME\Download\TheFolder.
How do YOU organize your files?
I am interested please post it, and also how you organize your programming files maybe a other directory or w/e please post.
Post your way! :)

I have two 500GB hard disks
C:\ all program/windows data
X:\ All my personal files: such as pictures, movies ect ect. I also have my programming folders here like "php map", "scar map", ect.
So basicly, when my windows crashes, or when I want to reinstall it, all my data is safe on my X:\ disk. Though I'm fucked when my X:\ disk crashes :p
well good luck with your pc.

I have it on a different computer. as a 1 TB RAID set up.
I just mount it with smbmount, so I can access it like /mnt/raid/*
There is all the music, etc saved.
My local hard disk, is a 500 GB disk seperated into 4 partitions. One for my Winblows XP SP 2, but that partition is dusty, so to say. The other two are just storage, and the last one is for my Linux FS /.
Previously I didn't have any Hierarchy of storing files, except for ~/Programs/here and ~/Documents/here, but I'm currently organizing my files a bit. That's the cool thing about vacation. :)

First install windows with about, 60 - 80GB? (One Partition)
Then install Ubuntu to use the rest of the Disk Space. :)

Well, I keep music in /home/widget/Music, sorted by genre (Songbird automatically keeps it nice and organized)
Pictures go in /home/widget/Pictures (or My Documents\My Pictures if it's from Photoshop or tf2)
My applications menu comes pre-sorted for me so there's at most 10 items per category.
I also keep a lot of things on my server in various folders (mounted via network and accessible from the internets in case I need the files somewhere else.

I have now found a new option under Windows XP Pro, is called Map Network Drive.
I now have my backup folder/download folder thing I have Drive B.
It's nifty :).
I am also going to let my programs save in the right direction.
Then I will install ubuntu.
