SCAR on Mac (Native application)

EDIT: NO! You can't (yet) have a native Mac application for SCAR. But you can install it and get it up and running.

I installed SCAR using Wine, got SRL and Reflection using Versions (a Mac GUI svn checkout program). Everything compiled just fine. SMART runs perfect. Scripts run fine (logged in, and terminated because they're outdated due to the recent RS update.)

But all in all, its EASY and works. Thank you Markus, for the golden key (installing JRE). Cheers!

Simple.

Can it be done?

I've got SCAR running on my Mac with CrossOver but it gives a lot of errors and doesn't run SMART.

So yeah, can a native Mac application for SCAR be made?

I don't think the language that scar is written in is cross platform.
If the whole thing was java and not Delphi, then we probably could.

Delphi is for Windows only :/
There is a program called WINE though, google it and see it if helps you :)

EDIT: Oh, you already have a cross over :/ Sorry >_<

Thats what I thought at first.

Isn't SCAR written in Pascal? If so, then theres several things that popup on Google: http://www.freepascal.org/

(According to some forum post, FPK also supports Delphi.)

FPC won't work. Tons of Win32 specifical stuff in SCAR (+ I doubt Freddy wants to do it/has the time to do it).
Using Wine it's not too hard to get it working, at least not on Linux variants: just install the Windows JRE, latest Wine version and you should be able to auto fine with SMART.

No, Scar wasn't written in Pascal, you use Scar to write in Pascal, but Scar was written in Delphi like Zyt3x and Buckley said.

Ah I see. Thanks for the replies guys. And Markus, I hadn't thought of that - think thats why I kept getting the access violation error. So install SCAR with WINE, and then install Windows JRE with WINE also aye?

Will try that soon. Thanks.

There was also a project that Freddy was working on called Leviathan that was cross-platform.

Leviathan? Hmm haven't heard of it.

What was the project about? A Mac version of SCAR or just an Emulator or something?

A general cross-platform version of SCAR. Yes it was mainly designed for Mac I believe.

Well, it's far from complete and not usable at all.
r3dr4agon: you got it right :) Install Windows JRE with Wine

offtopic: first thing I thought off when I saw Leviathan was the EP of Alestorm x)

It is usable :D. You can do Writeln in it :p. But it's not really even in alpha stages yet.

Thanks Markus, I'm re-installing Wine now will let you know if it works now.

Oh and Leviathan sounds interesting. Is it still being actively developed? Or is it just some dead project with no light?

It will continue it's development when Freddy gets around to it :p.

Leviathon was supposed to be my cross-platform version of SCAR, but aside from the fact that I haven't had much time to work on it, there's stuff I need which I couldn't find in it's cross-platform libraries… Take WindowFromPoint or GetPixel for example, I've looked for them for quite some time without result, dunno if they've been added in the meanwhile, but it wasn't exactly well documented either…

Hm fair enough Freddy.

I got SCAR working on Mac fully functional though, maybe a few minor bugs like getting stuck whenever you click the "Edit" menu but all in all I can use it just fine for SMART etc and autoing RuneScape.

SCAR works fine in DarWINE.

DarWINE? Whats the difference between that and simple WINE?

I'm running it fine on my Mac using WINE.
