Anyone here ever have ingrown toe nails? If you have, you know they can hurt. I have had them on both big toes for a few months now and it had been getting increasingly worse. I finally went to a podiatrist, they looked at it + took x rays. They cut down the sides of both nails so the toe nails would stop growing out into my skin. A few days later it was getting worse and they determined from their x rays that this caused staff infection in my toes.

So now I have these giant swollen red toes, and they tell me that they are going to have to take the nail completely off of one of them. So they numbed my foot and cut it with scissors for a while. Now I have no toe nail and the pain is KILLING ME!

Sorry to feel the need to share this with you all but I am in pain right now and really just needed to complain to someone.


Lesson to be learned: Make sure you clip your toe nails regularly. Do not clip them too close to the nail though. Do not wear shoes that are too small for you. Trust me, you do not want severe ingrown toe nails :(

I've had ingrown toe nails for a few months, and they got better, now they're ccoming back.

Take some pain killers :)

Just take lots of pain killers and concentrate your pain to something else. :p

Lol. You seriously have no idea though. It's not even about the ingrown toe nails. It's that they ripped out the WHOLE nail of my big toe and it is extremely infected and swollen. Trust me, you'd say ouch too :p

And I am on a ton of ibuprofen right now :/

Lol, ice it, make it as numb as possible, that should take away some of the pain. :)

EDIT: But I guess if you got frostbite, that wouldn't help your situation. Forget what I said, unless your really disparate.

I get them, but as soon as they start digging. I teach them whose boss. (with pain)

I'll tell you what's worse.

Try ripping your toenail out WITHOUT any numbing. Try that one. DAYYYM I've never felt so much pain.

What do you guys do with your feet? Mine are all but perfect (thanks to the genes of my father -.-), but my toe nails are fine, and I have NEVER had a problem with them…. :D
Oh well, talk about a bummer… good luck on getting better though… ;)

Yeah, he is a little bit gay, he used to go to manicures, not sure if he still does.

Oh man I know how much that hurts :S I had an infection in my big toe too and it was so painful -.- and the doctor sticked a thing that looked like a god damn can opener to my toe and " opened " the infected spot. You can imagine all the shit that came out of there LoL !! ewwww :P Even thinking about it makes me sick

I had an ingrown toenail for a long time on one foot that kept recurring.

Eventually I had a podiatrist friend cut it back, and it was much better for a year or so.

But when it grew back, it was as bad as ever. He said I would have to have it cut back, and then kill the root of the nail so that it wouldn't grow back. He did that the second time, and it's been fine ever since.

When i had surgery on both my ingrown toe nails the doctor said they were the worse he has ever seen. they got so infected that it looked like i had a disease… i couldn't even put on my shoes with out tears going down my face… seriously i cried a few times a day from just bumping them… it was unbearable pain. now my toes just look ugly the skin grew over my toes and they look ingrown but it doesn't hurt to bump them or anything anymore.

omg dude my friend had that, its quiiite painful .

Damn that is a ouch, my freind has it, his toe always bleeds at school because of bumps, and his is minior.

ouch man, get them better soon, staph infections an suck, compounded with ingrown toenails….sucks to be you.

I cried too sometimes when I bumped them.. oh man the pain!! :(

I have a small one right now am I'm trying to get rid of it myself, its already infected so i'm treating it.
