Basically, I stopped logging in for a while, and when I come back, I am banned. I look and see shuttleu has admitted to stealing my account and using it to scam. I don't know how he got unbanned. My account had a very weak password that I had used other places.


I talked to some mods about this on IRC, and got my account back. I really would like some explanation as to how shuttleu got my password (it's not a variant of the top 500 passwords.)

Also, what exactly happened with me getting banned? Who did he scam? and how did he get unbanned?

Also. googling for his MSN: [email]thomasaugood@hotmail.com[/email] finds you http://forums.digitalpoint.com/archive/index.php/t-1209537.html in which he posts under the name dallas574 (trying to scam someone, or at least sell pirated copies of software). Coincidentally, there is somebody named dallas574 in the srl forums. Perhpas the admins could match IP adresses?

Someone did the same thing to my account at rscheata.net, took it over, and started posting under it. I haven't got that one back yet.

He also changed my avatar and signature.

as for the digital point forum, me and Dalas did try to scam someone on there with a pirate copy and he wanted me to do all the talking

Ah, so you were hacked too? How did they do it? Was you password easy to guess or something?

Honestly we have no idea what happened lardmaster. This whole situation is a big mess.

From what I can tell you both got hacked? I really have no idea.

There is no way for us to tell who hacked who.

It was … Me.. :) Nah kidding :) But that's pretty odd :SBut if someone does have super hacking powers :D

The first links proved nothing, for all we know, you and yourock12345 could have both been in on it, and you got him to make it look like you didn't hack.

The second one proves that someone (either Lard Master or Shuttleu) attempted to take accounts.

With the 5 password attempt rule, I highly doubt anyone managed to just guess yours or Shuttleu's password, you either (accidentally or on purpose) told someone your password, and they took advantage of that, or someone did truly hack you (even though, from what I hear, VB accounts are exactly easy to hack).

So these are the 3 options of whats happened:

1. Shuttleu took Lard Master's account, and posted bad scripts under his name
2. Lard Master took Shuttleu's account, and posted a bad script under his name
3. Someone stole both your accounts, and tried to make you both look like hackers, and get away with it themselves.

Lard Master, from what I hear, was trustworthy for ages, and I fail to see why he'd do something like this. I also don't think he'd go to the trouble of bringing the whole thing up if he was already unbanned. But if you also look at it, Shuttleu is pretty trustworthy as well.

What I think should happen: both of you should have a clean slate, and if they do this again, no need to question it, permanent ban. But my opinion means nothing here.

In my opinion, it is the third option. Like you, I can't see either of them doing this, so I think they should both get a clean slate for now. But, like you again, my opinion means nothing.

What do the ips say? Was there a point that we were both taken over?

hey i played nothing in this whole situation i just befriended shuttleu and he got banned and i thought he was innocent so i tried to get him unbanned. He is a good person.

Well personally I remember Lardmaster as being somoene that definitely wouldn't do this. He has been around forever. Shuttleu, sorry, but I seriously cannot trust you what so ever right now. I mean you just admitted to scamming pirated software. Plus you haven't been around as long, and you are surrounded in this mess.

Nothing is for sure until we get an IP log for both, or all 3 if we want to check Dallas. Maybe if we are really lucky we can get the IPs from the other forum too. Doubtful, but maybe.
