Programming Class

My options are C++, Java, C#, or Pascal.

Sounds very interesting, I'd love to take them someday. :norris:

C++ go with the most powerful

C# - easy and fun with MS VC# that is.

I'm looking more for easy not power.

Tootoot222

2009-06-28 21:26:33

then go with pascal =p it's definitely the easiest

I found Java fairly easy in my class, but considering your lack of advancement in SCAR scripting, I don't really know if it would come easily for you as it did for me.

I would consider doing C++ or Java if I were in your position.

if you want to do other programing things outside of this class, don't go for the easy one, take C++ or Java like Method said; those are the most likely to help you outside of the class.

if you're just trying to pass this class and get it over with, go with pascal, it seriously is really easy to learn

If its OOPs you want, I'd do for Java for easy to learn, C++ for the most powerful.

If you want to ultimate easier, I'd say Pascal, as you most probably have a good knowledge of SCAR.

My opinion: C++, I only have a small amount of experience in it, but I like it. And Java isn't easier cross-platform (I think).

Agreed. :norris:

I'm leaning towards Pascal since it's most like SCAR, now where can I get a FREE compiler for it? (Windows XP)

If you want easy, then go with C#.
Even though pascal is like scar, expand your knowledge.

I'd do Java, because it's easier than C++, but still quite powerful.

Easiest is definitely Pascal.
C# is a rip off of Java.
Java is the middle for power/ease of use. (And is the most portable language available, minus assembler, if I recall)
C++ is the most difficult, but most powerful.

C# is easy peasy you can make a lot of programs but good ones.

C++
most powerful and it will make learning other languages much easier

You won't have much (if any) use for pascal really. Java and C++ might benefit you most, don't know about C# but apparently it's easy, but it's really a "microsoft only" thing.

I have C++ and I'll most likely take java too next year.

E: Also, your knowledge of SCAR won't really benefit you that much with pascal, most likely just the syntax will be easier, and variables etc. are pretty similar in all languages I know.

If you want to reach something with it, take Java or C++.

Pascal would actually be my last choice.

If you want a compiler, then FPC would be the obvious choice.

Wizzup?

C++ or Pascal (FPC!)

Mr.Klean

2009-06-29 00:39:36

Hmm, I voted C++. C# if I remember correctly from what I have read is one of those languages that will be phased out pretty quickly and replaced with another. Not sure if I remember that right, but it seems so.

I don't see a massive amount of use in Java.

Pascal, you already know quite a bit

C++ very powerful and will come in handy a lot.

C++ or Java for sure. I've taken 2 C++ classes and 2 Java classes at community college, and loved them both. C++ I would say is just a bit more important to know then Java though for a lot of things.

Definitely go with one of those 2. They are the 2 major object oriented programming languages.

Tom if you put C#.., wouldve worked.

But anyway C++… Im learning snips of it here and there for me. Its not as hard as people make it out to be.

The pascal they teach you is complete crap, go with Java if you insist on taking any of the courses. You won't learn much, honest.

It depends what you want
1.) Just to get a programing language on your record = Pascal
2.) Java if you want to stay with runescape cheating. It is really fun when your making bots or updaters and looking around the client
3.)C++ if you want something that will help you for ever

you wanna go with the C++ class, you will learn the ins and outs of programming as well as the most powerful upper level language that is available. If you already know how to scar script, after learning C++ you will be able to move freely to pretty much any other programming language. The only difference is syntax

Nadeem

2009-07-01 03:34:47

IMO Java would be the easiest from those if your looking for a new language to learn, I've only done Java for about 5 months now and have nearly perfected alot of its aspects (I had no choice though) ~ If I were you, I'd go with C++ :D I'm planning to start learning that in roughly 3-4 months

whats a noopoob ? :D

Dude, C++ is soo easy. Just make delphi macro's (not autoing macro, its a kind of shortcut) that when you call it in delphi form, it does it in C++.

^ That way you can have pretty much the same syntax. But do more.

Example.

In scar its writeln(X); which in C++ is equivalent to
cout<<X<<"\n"

Soo in your compiler just do at the beginning.
#define writeln(X) cout<<X<<"\n"
soo in whatever procedure your doing, you can just call writeln(X);

BTW. I just starting learning C++ 2 nights ago…

Why do you need to take a class to learn pascal/delphi? Over like 2 years(i'm 14) ive learnt lots of delphi (actually made a scar copy :p) and c++. All from coming to SRL Forums :)

BTW. I just starting learning C++ 2 nights ago…

Haha it get much much advanced than cout :P
