i bought an 80 gig classic a few years ago for like $320?
still works, haven't filled it up, battery lasts over 10 hours still on music. I'm happy with it I suppose.

Look up the 16 gig. I got mine over a year ago for 299. I think thats better pricing then 8gig tbh. But Congrats!!!

I dropped my 16 gig in the toilet by accident. My parents were soooo pissed. No more ipod for me.

I got four iPod touches. 2 8gb 2nd gens and 1 16gb 2nd gen and a 16gb 1st gen. Got the second gen 16gb for $220. In fact, I am using it right now xD.

TBH with the app store now I probably wouldn't waste my time jailbreaking it. But then again, I've never actually owned one, just 'borrowed' for extended periods of time (during which I did jailbreak it, but that was two years ago - 'pre-app store')

Side note to all electronically inclined.. never use an ipod or laptop for testing homebuilt audio equipment.. apparently I had a board laying on a hex wrench, thus when I plugged my amp in, it shorted 1a of 12v straight into my beautiful AIDS nano's headphone port, so it's no longer able to drive headphones. Sadness; anyone got a nano they want to donate? XD

App store costs, Jail-Breaking doesn't.

Jailbreak and App store = win.

Are you kidding me -.-

Gratz Cnr :) I personally haven't jailbroken mine, I'm fine with the freebies on the app store along with an occasional pay app. Anyone have any convincing reason to jailbreak it? :)

dont jailbreak it yet if it is a 2nd gen
wait until the jailbreak has come out of beta

I'd also prefer a classic for the money you'd spend. Actually, after my first ipod (60gb classic) experience, I think I'm going to stick with the nano's for a while. They're cheaper, so I can afford to upgrade more often - I can live with only a fraction of my music, I just need to reshuffle things more often.

Congrats on the touch! I put my ipod through the wash… 3 times… After the third time it didn't work anymore :D

well, you should have gotten the 32 gb… jk its way too expensive, although my brother got one from his university, and he jailbroke(hmm..) it. he loves it. best thing about jailbreaking is no more itunes!!! just drag and drop… FTW!!

You mean you can get all of the stuff in the app store free, if its jailbroken?

Runescapian321

2009-06-19 07:30:21

Oh so people crack the pay apps? Might be worth jailbreaking then. Not for that reason though, of course

Da 0wner

2009-06-20 03:07:39

Yeah, Installous/Installer is for getting free paid apps.

Edit: A boot screen is the logo you see when you turn it on. I.e the Apple logo.
