Are Jagex really doing something?

Today I was testing my newly made Zanaris alcher which I was about to release when something very strange happened.
The NPC named Irksol went unclickable for 5 secs.
The model was still showing, but it's uptext/menu was gone.
I quickly enabled S.M.A.R.T and tried myself, I couldn't click it.
Are Jagex really getting this desperate?
Have anyone else had this before?
For the record, Havn't been drinking/using pills.

Probably just lag..? Or could be a RS bug…

It wasn't lag as everyone else was fine.
What RS bug would temponary disable uptexts/menu's for 5 secs?.
And, S.M.A.R.T can't disable stuff, as everything else was fine.
I can actully see them doing this to flagged users, to find out if they are autoing.

Normal RS players would get pissed super bad. So I doubt it.

2009-06-15 03:28:25
Yeah i doubt they would go to that extreme to find out if people are botting. I think they just added that to the bulletin to scare people. I doubt they really have revamped there system. Just my opinion.

2009-06-15 03:28:32
But what if they only did it to flagged players?
The players they suspect for autoing…?
Capricorn

I am pretty sure legit players get flagged and unflagged all the time. At least I would believe so.

It wouldn't really prove anything, a bot would keep trying to look for the uptext, so would a normal person. I mean, if the uptext didn't show, I would keep looking for it because it would be weird. This wouldn't really benefit Jagex in any way.

Most script logs if it can't find an object for 5 secs, no?

Not any I made, or have used. I guess after at least 30 seconds cause of fail-safes it logs.

Yes, I have a similar problem. It's present with the bankers, doors, and other npcs for me… I can still move my character around, just that right clicking + left clicking objects doesn't seem to respond. This is present for me with or without smart.
If it was lagg, I wouldn't be able to move very smoothly. But I move smooth, run properly. Just problems interacting. (My character's internal user interfaces still works)
I lol'd hard at the title. :] I think your an troll. >.>

Sounds something like the supposed 'Invisible NPCs' that showed up around RSBot a couple months ago. NPCs that had no Uptext, no form, and were completely invisible except for their ID (which you could see through RSBot's client debugger) were following players around. That didn't seem so dangerous, but then invisible NPCs with an ID identical to real NPCs nearby were reported. First thing we don't know is whether those who reported it were lying. Second thing is, what caused them?

There's a thread on the RSBot forums about this. ZAlch, ruskis fighter & a few others were listed as scripts that people got banned using. over 200+ people from rsbot were quoted or some such number. Saw it 1 or 2 days ago there (link was posted on irc)
edit:

Hello all,
Confirmed critical scripten (Result: ban!)
Garret's Firemaker
Deviant Woodcutter
Ruski's fighter
zAlch
As many others, i just got banned. Post your name here if you were banned after the macro detection update, and if you want your story. (And post the script where you got banned with)
Please also read this topic: www.rsbot.org/vb/showthread.php?p=67064
Dear Greatings,
Paul
COUNT:
200+ (Sins 11-6-2009)
I think i'm not gonna update this number anymore, after page 11 i will check tomorrow again and count them
Quote from the link [-jesus-] posted.
WHAT DUMBASS'S. Jagex could register like 500 accounts and say they get banned from all scripts…and BAM their community is gone.

Just so you know, this is a bug in the client.
I used to get it all the time when I would play legit. It just occurs when you login I found. It was SOOOOOOOOOOOO frustrating.

I think it occurs when you connection with the rs server lags. Sometimes this happens when i am doing an emote, and it will just keep going until it catches up(idk if that is the right word).

Ok I think that jagex is trying to crack down on the macroing, so this is what I think they do:
They might have some service (not I said they MIGHT, they probably dont), in which admins can log into NPC's, or do something to them to have there uptext/options removed.
It could be a bug since runescape was just updated recently, after the next update, if this problem is still not gone then it might be something more serious then just a bug

Why would JMods log on to NPC's when they can just talk to you in the first place? And I just botted for 4 hours and I did not notice anything out of the usual.

It can be either, some people think of Jagex as a group of people so it would be the plural, 'are' but if you think of Jagex as a company then its 'is'

There was a guy yesterday who i was talking to who couldnt log out, he button wouldnt click :p
But I noticed that too, I was trying to switch tabs or do something and it wouldnt click. I've never had that before. Maybe Jagex took the bug and added it as random detection :p

i actualy think i had a bit of that happening when i was botting at yaks, all i did was mix reflection with color and it fixed it :] i love being able to make reflection / color hybrid scripts now, they are so much more powerful.. only problem is reflections slow =/ so you cant depend on it as much as with color
