Sorry to burst your bubble Bobng, but the networking was next to 0. Nobody liked what you made.

He forked the process "accidentally" so it started to use 400% CPU :p

*Shrugs* He was just coding something, he said it was a searchable SRL Manual or something.

Probably:
<?php
while(true)
{
$conn = mysql_connect_db(…);
mysql_select_db($conn);
mysql_query("SELECT * FROM *", $conn);
mysql_close_db($conn);
}
?>
That's what I would do.

* Nice Harry, exactly 7000 posts *

It's short for Enough said. Ie, enough was said. No more detail is needed. Further explanation is unnecessary.

well I coded a web frontent for my IRC SRL manual searcher.

It had a simple ajax box that sent requests to the server with the contents of the search box every time you typed anything. The server then did 3 mysql full text searches on that query, one for each relevant part of the database. It then outputted a list of commands.

It worked fine on my Dev server (113ms per request at max), but it seemed to fuck this server up bad.
