Is it about love, some kind of connection? Or is it about just gettin' er done?

For me it was both. I both had feelings for the girl i had sex with and i also just wanted to get some action. However I wouldn't have sex with someone i really didn't know very well. The sex is much better if you have a good connection with the person.

I have seen several of my friends lose relationships because it becomes only about sex. If you are searching for reason to stay together, you are probably not doing it the right way… I don't see how not having sex really matters in your quest for reasons to stay together. If you've known her for over 5 years, I can hardly imagine you're having the relationship just for sex, without having sex…?

Sex is just sex, in my eyes. Yes, you should love the person to do it, but it isn't a necessity. As long as you are using protection, I could care less.

I think sex should be about love, but i think it should be within the confines of marriage.

I lost my virginity 3 years ago to a young woman whom i loved very much at the time. It took a while but our relationship began to sour, i was well… i guess you could say addicted. She had a relatively low drive and would be happy with 1ce or less a week, whereas i wanted it everyday, at least. Im now dating a lady whom i have been with for a bit over a year and i love her very much. When we began dating we made the deal that sex was off limits unless we were to get married. that means no OS or MS, nada. Its a good thing we did because ive come to know her very well and lover her very much. Good thing for me, she MB's and has probably a higher desire than i do. ill probably propose within the next few months. like any of you care :-P

AFAIK, when a girl is 12, she does not produce 'eggs' yet. And, a girl/women is only fertilizable about 3 days before and 1 day after the ovulation. So if it was like 5 days after the girl ovulated, the chances are nihil you get a child.

My first time was definitely not love, you know the story, no need to go into it, unless someone REALLY wants to hear it. Anyway.. I've regretted that ever since. With my current girlfriend (we'll be dating a year in about a week or two :)), it's all about love (most of the time ;)), and that's how I think it should be. I have found my lifepartner and we both agree that sex can be a very amusing passtime, but also a strong expression of love. I personally feel that by saying "I love you" one express love as a feeling towards somebody, and by making love one expresses more lust and passion than pure, innocent caring.

I have sex averaging at least once a day. On a day to day basis, rarely we don't have sex, mostly we have sex, often twice a day (not so much with work now). Of course those are all roommates permitting and what not. We use protection every single time (I'm not retarded…), we even used condoms when she was on the pill. I am 20 years old. We have planned that I should at least be out of college since I plan to be the one working, hopefully more than her/making more money. We already live together, so we know we can get along with eachother when we are always around eachother. There really is no point in being in college and being married, you have no real home and are not financialy ready for it.

The only 100% effective method of birth control is abstinence, so unless you're intending to become a parent, that's the best avenue.

I also believe that what you think about sex today will be different that what you think about it 15 years from now.
I assume that almost everyone here would like to get married at some point. If you wait until you're married, then you're guaranteed to have the best sex of your life with your spouse. It may seem like sex is "only physical" now, but what if you've had 3 or 4 or 5 partners, then meet someone that you might actually want to spend the rest of your life with? What if the sex isn't quite as good as an experience you've had before? Would you start wandering around, looking for a mistress, or a prostitute, or something else that could destroy an otherwise great marriage? Would you dump a girlfriend, or divorce your spouse solely because the "physical connection" isn't there?

I have seen both the relationships that struggle because they are based on physical attraction and I have seen relationships based on emotional (not lust/ecstasy/pheromones/adrenaline) and psychological attraction. Don't get me wrong, there is usually quite a bit of eros love still in play in the second example. I am yet to see or hear about any relationship that ends up keeping strong or is healthy that was based on physical attraction (sex) alone. AFAIK, when a girl is 12, she does not produce 'eggs' yet. And, a girl/women is only fertilizable about 3 days before and 1 day after the ovulation. So if it was like 5 days after the girl ovulated, the chances are nihil you get a child.

I'd have to agree with Nava there, in my opinion if your not ready for a relationship you shouldn't be sleeping with her.

That was me, and once done, it's not a good feeling. You're giving the girl the wrong idea by sleeping with her and not intending it to lead to a relationship.

The meaning of sex varies with each and every person. I lost it to a total slut who didn't give much of a shit about "love" and "expressing your feelings". Then again there are girls who strongly believe in that stuff, who wait until marriage or until they're "ready".
