Well, My dad caught me watching the pr0nz (READ: Found the porn folder), so he's installed this annoying little thing on my computer.

Admittedly, I was annoyed, so I just started bypassing it and all that, well, Tor worked.

Well, I was surprised. But does anyone have .. a basic tutorial on setting up a SSH tunnel from Windows XP?

From what I understand, SSH is just using a protocol a way it's not supposed to be used, if I grasp the basic concept correctly.

This page is the first Google result for "windows ssh tunnel". If that doesn't work, some simple searching should.

SSH is actually for secure shell connections, I think it's encryption is SSL.

Well, anyway, why bother if Tor works? What kind of stuff does this thing block anyway?

Tor is quite slow, and not really meant for streaming videos… I am not sure what the protection does… If you could post some details we could be more helpful. (No, I won't look it up, right now.) :)

The link method gave is a sshd on windows. (Cygwin, but ripped.)
If the protection only reads port 80, it shouldn't be too hard to bypass.
I think you'd better just talk with your dad, though… lol

Or, yakman, it could hook the DNS DLL and check all host lookups. That, it would seem, might make more sense b/c ws2_32.dll is static. Besides, Conficker hooks the DNS DLL to block lookups of norton, etc :D

this is just me being pedantic..

DNS lookups are contained in ws2_32.dll, if you those functions in it you can control DNS lookups,

I'm not sure what you meant by that dll being static when the name dll means dynamic link library.


Lee Lok Hin: try to access your site only with the IP? might cause problems because browsers normally send "Host: hostname" but can wont be hard to get around…

r0b0t1 was right in that DNS resolutions take place in dnsapi.dll.
however, nslookup might still work
