I tried to get this before, so I agree, although, I am making forums, and one reason is so that we can sell our scripts, so if it isn't agreed, I will be releasing forums soon ;)

Closest to come is a black market.
If you're lucky enough it might be a script sale after, but i doubt it.

Hmm, personally, I would also enjoy a script selling section, BUT wouldn't that conflict with the basic principle of SRL?
One of the main reasons why srl is prevailing is because here we have some very good scripters who are offering their abilities for nothing but a bit of honor and the joy which they give the people who are using the scripts. I'm not too sure about other communities ( never looked at them in detail), but I have heard that most of the talented scripters/programmers only make pay scripts… So yeah, I'll say no if it should come to a vote… I enjoy making scripts, and using others in return. You should make scripts because you enjoy making them, not because you want to make money. Also, you can make a bit of cash on the side by creating a great script and kindly asking for a donation, without forcing anyone to pay.

Totally against any form of selling - the most positive aspect of Scar is it's forced open sauceness of scripts. If you want to make money, learn a real computery language and make websites or applications that allow closed sauce.

If the reason you want to sell it is to just make a bit of money for all your hard work instead of the sole purpose being making money, have your script up up a click ad thing say every 30 minutes, so you make money without making other people pay :)

Obbing just makes it difficult to read a script, but as it must still be in a valid format, it's not impossible to then deob it.

It'd be more so the black market that would/might do that, but seeing as it'll be Members-only, that won't happen.

As for script selling…The positives

1) Encourage scripters to make amazing scripts
2) Increase an interest in learning for new guys because they would look forward to selling their own scripts

Negatives

1) Discourage scripters from making free scripts
2) Somewhat tarnish the 'free' reputation of SCAR/SRL


Personally, I'm stuck in between. Though I'm going to say No because I don't have any means to buy/sell scripts with anyway :p

Sometimes people that make scripts at SRL sell them at other communities, and have them free here :p.

Nearly every scripter on this forum. And if I find someone selling a script, I sometimes make a free version of the same script, like the Essence Miner.

I am actually going to do something similar to this later this year when i release a script i'm making. Release a "lite" version to the Junior Members, allow SRL Members to have the full version for free in the section, Junior Members will either have to pay for the script or become an SRL Member - see how desperate they'll be :p. You can't talk me out of it! :D

I don't see whats wrong with a selling section.. It would boost scripting and while you script you can at least make some money off it. Like why did we all learn to script? just for fun? maybe… or just to boost our runescape accounts.. but would be funner if we had some cashies involved?

I made a Inbuilt Script CD-key thing (Auth). Ive made it with lots of methods of failsafes and dummies. Try and crack. Btw if you are trying just to guess the Auth its a 2 digit number ;).

If you do crack it the debug should say:

i don't understand? why didn't you just make a list of serial keys and upload the file somewhere, then ask a key on script startup (readln) and if it's correct it will launch the actual script?

you could make the keylist unreadable with some php mysql…
also you could save the serial in to an .ini so it wouldn't have to be asked on every startup

It can be removed too easily.
Either way, topic is coming off topic. It is not regarding the ability to stop people reading and editing a script, but whether or not you believe your typed words are actually worth money.

hey so i gotta ask.. is it posible to turn your scar script into a .exe file with 'self destruct' thingamabobs in case someone tries to hack? and maby like makeing the file access the internet to get verification? Cause i was thinking what if we just had some smart one from our comunity that knows how to do that kinda stuff to do it.. and then we could sell our scripts on other forums and give him some of the profit?

As you can see not many people read your post :p Personally I'd volunteer but problem is I don't have any sort of Paypal or means by which to get one verified, so I'd have to stick with RS <-> RS trades :(

Script selling is a 50% good/bad idea, but think about this I would make my flawless(AFAIK) edgeville claysoftner public if I get like 2 p2p pins, and I will keep updating ofc.

Yeah.. would never happen. There are ways to keeps scripts safe though, it just takes a bit more work. Think.

Not only do I hate that so many people think that script selling is a good idea, I hate that they think their script is worthy to be sold. I've only known one successful pay to use script and that was SB's - there is a reason no one else managed to successfully do it. Just bringing this up, I remember Starblaster selling scripts were ownage (I was new to scripting and stuff & blackmarket).

I'm against it though, if it's a legit flawless script than that be cool, like Sumilions and i think Lorax Yew cutter/banker multi-location, was straight up ownage as well.

cause people wouldnt trust you to let you go on there acount to auto. i dont realy think serious runescape players trust the botting comunity much. we could easily be hackers and scammers

How about villavu holds the auth system? How about, in the auth system, a lot like srl-stats. Whoever owns the script. just searches users and put a check mark for auth. Then the users pass is auth. That way if anyone shares auth = hacked account.

If only freddy would build a built in auth checker to scar.

Anyone who is an SRL Member should auto on RuneScape and trust SRL…
