NOTE: Be weary of ALL PayPal Trades! Anyone is able to claim their funds back regardless if they are paying through credit card, bank, or PayPal funds. Claim and cancel will NOT protect you against charge backs.

Disclaimer: This tutorial simply shows how increase your safety with PayPal. Trade at your own risk.

First of all, it's important to accept the facts:
  1. When dealing with intangible items, you can not prove to PayPal the transaction happened. There is NO seller protection.
  2. Paypal deems virtual trading as risky, and will limit accounts that they find doing it.
  3. Trading RuneScape accounts, items, or gold is NOT legitimate.
It is quite obvious that you do not want to get into disputes when dealing with PayPal. You are not going to win. So, here are some ways to increase your safety and avoid getting ripped off.

1) Have the customer provide information:

Make sure the customer's account is VERIFIED and that their ADDRESS IS CONFIRMED. Also make sure the address on their account is listed in the phonebook, and that it is their current place of residence. The address provided in the payment details will be used to do a reverse lookup at whitepages.com, which will be explained later. Let them know you will be calling their house, to verify their location.

2) Have the customer include a note with their payment:

With every payment you make on Paypal, you can include a note, or a memo. This can help you prove that your customer received their item. Have them include a message like "Thanks for fixing my site for me!" or just "I received my item before this payment was made - I promise not to chargeback". This is a good little measure to help protect yourself. Try to avoid using the word Runescape, because remember PayPal does not like people trading virtual items.

3) Call the customer:
After the customer has paid your PayPal, click the Details on his payment. Make sure they included their Confirmed Address in the payment:

Now, call their house, by checking at www.whitepages.com for the phone number that corresponds with their address, by doing a reverse address search:

Call them up. If the account is under their name, their consent is all you need. If it's under their parent's name, tell them you need their consent for the payment to be accepted. This is extremely important. This step proves that the account being used is not stolen, and therefore an unauthorized chargeback can not be filed.

4) Claim/Cancel
