Rant against the staff!
Markus
2009-05-13 13:40:03
Due to increased dissatisfaction to the staff, and as I had some complaints in the past when I was still a little SRL Member but couldn't tell them anywhere, this thread.
Feel free to rant about *anything* staff related, although there are a few rules
- This is ranting against the staff, not other people.
- Feel free to relieve your feelings here. Tell us what you think about us! Telling the truth (usually) doesn't harm.
- You won't get infracted here, you won't get any other trouble here, as that would be pretty hypocrite. Just don't use that to post porn/spam/flame members, as against that, action WILL be taken.
- Only forum-related issues here, no IRC
- Feel you can't post your rants in public? PM them to me and I'll get back to you. Your privacy will be respected, so don't hesitate to contact me if it's something important.
- Feel free to say names. The specific staff can only know they are doing something wrong if they are told of it
- To mods/admins: please don't mess around with the posts here
Of course we can't promise that we can help you, but if we actually know there's a problem, it might help solving it.

There are way to many new members for each member of the staff to 'notice' you more than just being a new SRL Member, I am sorry to say but that is what it is like. The admins are kinda like CEOs of companies they don't meet every individual and have dinner with them. It is just how it is, bigger fish to fry sort of thing. Go to the IRC channel and you can talk to them there, they are willing to talk to anyone anytime there but the forums are too big and there is too much for them to fully acknowledge every single SRL Member fully and spend time interacting with them.
My complaint would be…hmm idk, I kinda like it here.

I know this isn't a forums problem, but the IRC needs to be stricter on its rules.
For the forum, it's actually not bad. Spam control is quite better, and general kindness is well. However, a lot of mods, etc, suck up to the admins (wizzup) to get them on their side. I remember someone saying they agreed with Wizzup?'s opinion even though he didn't give an opinion :P

Anywho, are devs considered staff or not? No one really answered. If so, I'd love to know what I could do to improve. Else, bitches I love all of you but Zeph he gets on my nerves. Always trying to e-blow me.
The staff overall does a great job maintaining the forums. To be honest though, I think that there are a few too many people on the staff who do little to no moderating at all. I probably should not name names, because that would make it personal. Like if I said Markus you suck (not that you do), you would probably like me less. Not that the staff does a bad job obviously.
That's the problem with naming names in rants though; it makes it personal.

Some members are given infraction rights, as experimental mods. I used to have that before I actually became moderator. Zeph used to have that too.
What the others were thinking is incorrect, as it is between members and developers as is explained in starblaster's sticky. Dev <> Mod.

Everyone, you are an SRL Member, you should be settting an example for all the newer, sometimes younger, members. Please do not use that kinda of language here, you do not know the age of every single person who will view your post or what background they come from. It could deeply offend someone, there are plenty of alternative words, use them.

Everyone needs to grow up and think before they speak. I will say this again, you are SRL Memeber, you should represent this community. How welcoming do you think we would seem if you just got here and the first few posts your read consist of a bunch of arbitrary swearing and the antagonizing of people for a simple question? Use your brain! People should feel free to ask questions of things they do not know! They shouldn't hold the question back because of a fear that they will be patronized and made fun of for it. This is not what the SRL Forums are about! I'll be honest here, I don't care who you are, I don't care if you are my favorite person in the world or my least favorite, attitudes like that are not welcome here and if that is the attitude you wish to present yourself with I would invite you to leave for awhile until you can grow up then come back

Twelve year olds steal things too. In real life there are rules (laws) for doing things, just as there are on these forums. It is against the law to steal, so even though you can, you will get punished for doing so. It is against the rules on this forum to swear/insult others, so even though you can do it, you will get punished for doing so. It does not matter how ridiculous you think a rule is (even though talking like a grown up without cursing does not seem that ridiculous to me), you will have to follow it. Simple as that.

II. Defining 'Noob'
Contrary to the belief of many, a noob/n00b and a newbie/newb are not the same thing. Newbs are those who are new to some task* and are very beginner at it, possibly a little overconfident about it, but they are willing to learn and fix their errors to move out of that stage. n00bs, on the other hand, know little and have no will to learn any more. They expect people to do the work for them and then expect to get praised about it, and make up a unique species of their own. It is the latter we will study in this guide so that the reader is prepared to encounter them in the wild if needed.
Noobs are often referred to as n00bs as a sign of disrespect toward them, and it's often hella funny, but I will refer to them as noobs during this reading.

Well thats the thing. It didn't look like a joke. That's a dangerous thing on a forum, its hard to get the real meaning of a post some times. What he means can be interpreted differently to others. Also I have stated that the warning was for insulting other members not for inappropriate language. There is nothing inappropriate with the word "noob" by itself or in a different context. But in Da 0wner's post, if that word had been left out he would have sounded much less insulting.

Hello SRL staff members,
–I am writing this to tell you that in comparison to every forum that I've been to (other than microsoft, delphi, other professional fields ect.) this has been by far the best staff I have encountered thus far, Congratulations.
–However, this is not a perfect staff… and I will refrain from using names or specifics in this post, if you have a specific question than MSN me, PM me, if not than just quote this and post a reply in this thread if you would, thanks.
–Complaint #1 Undeserved rankings. I would like to begin with SSRL, from my perspective, this is a complete joke in nature. I see people in it that are less skilled and intelligent (even less mature) than people who have been registered at these forums for years and are not in it, and that's by a long shot. From what I understand the process that is chosen to select these members is also seriously flawed seeing as the chosen are to choose the choose-ies, which is already far off track. I personally believe the admins should hand pick these people rather than making it an exclusive club viably to only those who are popular and 'allowed', very hard to describe my exact feelings on this. I personally strongly beleive their should be an application forum to get into SSRL just like there is with SRL Members. Secondly I'd like to criticize the admin/ moderator-ship of a portion of the current holding those positions. I believe people holding developership, adminship, or moderatorship should be talented enough scripters to be legitimate developers at very least. I've seen people promoted to mod, even admin based souly off reputation and popularness, which to me does not promote good leadership or examples in contribution or community leading abilities.
–Complaint #2 Personal feuds affecting authority. I've seen some justifiable acts regarding personal feuds affecting authority such as people being hacked or scammed, but I've seen unjustifiable acts that include thing such as when reflection was first introduced to SCAR in the form of KYAB was widely rejected (at least partially) only because solarwind was associated with it. I've also personally been insulted/discriminated against and even taken action against in the debates forum for disagreeing with a few certain moderators about the harmful side affects of marijuana. To put it simply, I feel it perfectly fine and necessary for a person of authority to speak out against someone as long as it is not speaking for the community or using any authority powers such as infractions/suspension/lock/bannage unless fit or necessary, which for the most part you all have done a good job with the exception of a few frequent exceptions.
–Complaint #3 "Pissing around". This comes largely from my shared view with Starblaster100 who ranted on Daniel.Blaze about a portion of the staff "pissing around" like when I see mods (rarely admins) doing things they know they shouldn't setting bad examples and standards for the rest of the community to follow. This too, is however, very mild, and completely remote in comparison to our neighboring forums and communities which I am very proud of.
–Complaint #4 Obsession. This is my final complaint which actually mostly goes out to members who practically worship their superiors and everything they say or do. Very annoying, go to church and praise God or something not some online foreign people. It's quite annoying when someone makes a thread about their favorite scripter changing their avatar.

#1. -> 1.1 Your knowledge of ssrl is of course limited, however, you complain that the members of ssrl choose the ones who will in future join ssrl. This is true for SRL Membership as well, as it is the members who vote on who gets in or not. As for the SSRL app, "
It is a curious thing, Harry, but perhaps those who are best suited to power are those who have never sought it. Those who, like you, have leadership thrust upon them, and take up the mantle because they must, and find to their own surprise that they wear it well. ";
-> 1.2 There is not a single active developer who was not voted into devs, therefore a majority of his fellow devs deemed him worthy. I understand you might disagree in some cases, however it seems natural to me that those who develop srl choose the ones they deem worthy to keep srl alive.
-> 1.3 You complain about people being granted mod / admin solely on reputation and/or popularity. As you can clearly see, Nauman, Da 0wner and Harry, who are widely known in the SRL forums are not staff. Were it to be solely based on reputation, they'd definitely be admins by now. Also, reputation is not a factor at all. I wonder who is able to remember much of me before i became mod. Or much of Zeph, Nava or Markus before they got dev. And etc.
To compliment that, only mods get promoted to admin, and you believe some may have been promoted unjustly. I now ask you, why? Also, how do you know it is undeserving, when you only have access to half of the forums they get to view, and therefore is most likely that you only see half the work they do? Also - you most likely don't see the work they do at all, as we often make posts for each others, whenever one is not available. The Staff works as a team, and it is often hard to tell who did what.
#2.As the subject of complaint is previous to me joining the staff or i have no influence over it i can not excuse nor justify any of the actions. However you talk about threads being closed because a mod disagreed. Is it possible that it was closed not due to opinion, but due to the fact that the difference of opinions was stirring a lot of trouble?
#3.Oh well. Not everyone is perfect. Everyone has his ups and downs both in attitude and mood.
#4.Can you really blame the staff for being loved? :p or can you really complain to the staff about it being a bad thing? Also, usually, a change in avatar is a simple, rather harmless joke between a mod and his friend(s).

From what I've heard the SM votes are unfair and stupid… but like you said I'm so limited as an SRL member to see half the forums even though I've been here since
2006 like many others. I remember clearly… BenLand, Flyboy, Wizzup, WT-Fawaki, Dank, Boreas were admins, Starblaster, Yakman, Sumilion, Tarajunky mods/super mods, developers were a small group too. I remember when a lot of you were SRL members like it was yesterday. Perhaps you're giving my background knowledge little credit… I'm basing my review of the staff off the past 3/4 years not just the past 2 months. Hell I remember Niel before he was a member and zeph.. and I remember when Nav.The claw were members… it was a for a year or two or more… In most cases the thread is closed because it causing trouble, but some times I see it closed because a mod decides he'd rather have the final word and lock it. No I can't 'blame' them for being 'loved' buts its freaking annoying to have to watch all the mindless idiots worship them like gods.
Like you said, take into consideration I only see half of what goes on around here. But personally
I don't find it to be just a mere coincidence Starblaster, whom had access to all forums agreed with me. Don't get me wrong, I don't think anyone should be demoted or anything but I think people need to take it for what it is.

Hello Mr. Icefire908,
I am writing this in a response to your post above. lol
Fair points though.
1.
Undeserved rankings. I would like to begin with SSRL, from my perspective, this is a complete joke in nature. I see people in it that are less skilled and intelligent (even less mature) than people who have been registered at these forums for years and are not in it, and that's by a long shot.
Thats just like, your opinion, man.
I personally believe the admins should hand pick these people rather than making it an exclusive club viably to only those who are popular and 'allowed'
Thats very counter-intuitive, if the admin hand picked someone then they would be "allowed" right? I'm not sure I know exactly what you mean. But what's wrong with a democratic voting system? It's much like the system to get into SRL-Members, except people can't apply - they're nominated by SSRL+. It's not like someone goes "oh, I like this person, lets make them SSRL" and it happens. And trust me, its not popularity that we look for when voting. There are some very popular people who arent in it, and some people you've probably never even heard of who are. And RAM is the only mod/admin who isn't also a dev, so I guess you're simply wrong. Basically, you don't know what goes on behind the scenes and you're making a lot of incorrect assumptions. Of course someones not going to become an admin just because theyre popular.
2. It wasn't about the content of what you were posting that got your threads locked/you suspended, it was the way in which you were posting. Everyone could tell you were trolling, and saying that you're being disciminated against for your beliefs (ON THE INTERNET of all places) is ludicrous. The whole point of the debate forum is to talk with people of other beliefs, if what you're saying is right then anyone who didnt agree with the mods would also be suspended/banned. Which doesnt happen. If you weren't trolling I'm sorry, me and the rest of the forum must have misinterpreted you. Don't take it personally.
3. Yeah some of us like to have a bit of fun, I can see where you're coming from but like you said it's nothing like other forums where admins try to crack their users passes/fuck around with their accounts etc. Nothing malicious, just joking around.
4. Very true. But what can you do, SRL has alot of young members and its just natural for them to see the older members as role models, just as a little brother looks up to his big brother.

Well I understand that, and don't get me wrong I'm not assuming I'm 100% right but I am telling you what it is like to be a SRL member at these forums sometimes… it's just my perspective, but my perspective is greatly limited by things that are nearly completely out of my control.
You guys made a rant against the staff thread so I thought I just let out a couple of things.
The whole mj discussion was a huge misunderstanding, and I can see how it happened… which is in the past and I hold no grudges or prejudice against any of those people.
Guys don't ever take zyprexa even if it's prescribed by your doctor (my doctor is stupid), I literally wasn't thinking rationally for a while during the time I was suspended and thought I was.
I feel better now that I posted what I thought, and you guys have clarified most of it.
I will drop all other complaints seeing as they are either not against the staff or in their mildest form, and a lot of things have changed since Star was demoted.
I still think SSRL needs some kind of intervention though… I'm not sure what exactly what needs to be changed but what is going now isn't working as well as you would think or like to think of it as.

IceFire, just so you know, don't lump-sum developers into the Staff. They aren't, staff are Mods + Admins.
Devs are completely different, and get no where near the privileges.

I am curious as to how you would know who or who isn't part of SSRL and how any SSRL member is
less skilled and intelligent than anyone else.
As SSRL we do not take voting in new members lightly. Any new applicants are polled and discussed based on maturity, activity and skill. Any hint of trouble-making is reflected strongly in the poll.
The term 'Senior' in SSRL does not necessarily refer to a member's longevity or time registered on the forums, rather the 'seniority' of their attitudes and mind-sets.
I know most SSRL members personally and they are some of the most skilled, intelligent and mature people I have met here. There may be other members who are more popular or better at scripting or have been here for a long time but if the attitude and maturity is not there then they can't possibly be considered for SSRL. I trust all SSRL members a great deal to handle their powers and privileges well. And all of them are deserving of their rank.

I have a first point before I comment. Well thought out post, I actually enjoyed reading it. And I agree with some parts.
Point 1 - I have no knowledge about this, so it would be unfair for me to comment on it.
Point 2 - I agree with the general theme, although I have no exact opinion about the rest of the supporting details. It seems that the closer to home something appears to a staff member, the more severe the punishment. I know this wasn't worded well at all, but I can't think of another way to put it. Admins simply react more severely if it happened to them than if it happened to someone else.
Point 3 - I have definitely noticed that some high ranking people have been pissing around the last little while, and it does annoy me, but it's not like I have any power to do anything. This is a forum for kids mostly, and hence there will always be an immature person wanting to abuse any power they want for the fun of it.
Point 4 - Concur 100%. No more points to be made on the subject.

I've been here since February 2007, I believe. I was here before Nielsie joined, I saw him fly through the ranks. I remember Zeph, who I talk to on msn from time to time. I remember FlyBoy, Dankness, Boreas, Yohojo (Wicked awesome) and I remember when some of the current staff were jr members, srl members, just like I was/am. Hell, I still remember showing lordsaturn how to script. Now he is a dev.
I agree that you can't blame the staff for having people follow them, but they can fan the fire, and it does happen. The idiots who worship them just make the whole situation worse.
E: None of this was meant as complaining, even though as I read over it, it could be taken as that.

It's kinda of easy to tell who's higher ranked when you click on Who's online and it says 'Viewing "thread"', or like other instances like when SMART was first released more people were unveiled to be SSL.
I like to download a lot of scripts off these forums and compare them learn from them. And I've seen quite clearly the differences in skill levels between a lot of people who I know aren't in SSL and those that are and I can tell quite clearly the rankings are undeserved.
Overall SSRL doesn't mean anything other than you were picked to be part of some exclusive club… the whole thing is pointless… perhaps take a look into the people that aren't SSRL and compare their skill to the people that are in it and might discover how messed up things have gotten in terms of accuracy.
You can say it's my opinion, but its pretty well based when I compare their works and quite often conclude the people in SSRL are actually worse at scripting.
So if you're not in SSRL fellow non-SSRL members, don't feel bad… it means you're better than them statistically. Maturity levels in the past year are virtually the same, I rarely see anyone being immature like the old days and if I do it's one person or someone is who going crazy/heavily intoxicated for a day or hacked.

Disagreed. If we had no secret forums, having membership of any sort would be useless, as the SRL members scripts would be just as available to an admin as to someone with 0 posts who just joined. ;)
As for the mod/admin forums, though, I think they're fine. If you've
ever run a decent-sized forum, you'll know that such things are necessary.
One example of their use would be for the discussion of potential candidates for ban/promotion. They get the consensus of those allowed to vote in a private manner; if Member_X was about to be banned because of how he is acting, making such a forum public would be problematic because he'd see "Oh, I'm about to be banned. I'll be nice now."
They're essential to keeping a certain level of peace, and help people do their jobs.
/*—————-}
As for my opinion, I don't really see much wrong. I agree in the fact that this is one of the most well-moderated forums I've ever seen. For me, at least, the mods have always been very friendly. They let the topic veer off to an appropriate level, but aren't extremely strict or lax with it.
Overall, you are doing an excellent job. Keep it up. ^^

Feel free to name ONE SSRL member who has sub-par scripting skills. One that is active might I add.

SSRL has a purpose, and it serves that purpose with an acceptable, although not perfect, degree of quality. Anyone that is not SSRL+ can't pass judgment on it. Anyone that goes on SRL forums when they have large mood swings, naturally caused or otherwise, will probably not be entrusted with SSRL+ access, no matter what their longevity is. I do see some people make the same decisions as staff, just because the staff made them, however this should not be confused with making a decision because the decision makes sense (which is probably why the staff made it in the first place). The example with a staff member voting yes and then the vote changes, is definitely a bad thing (unless the admin posted reasons that people may not have thought about before, and those reasons changed their mind). What all experienced SRL Members can do to help this is making specific comments on apps, so that new SRL Members can see why people vote. We definitely encourage thinking for yourselves with your own reasoning. Do keep in mind that if individuals think through their reasoning and come up with the correct conclusion, and the staff reaches the correct conclusion through their discussion (and remember that they were made staff because they make good decisions), then the two conclusions would be in agreement; this would be a different situation to the previous example. I could go on until I'm blue in the face, but reasoning rarely changes strong opinions, so it really comes down to two common expressions: 'Walk a mile in a another man's shoes…' and 'If you don't like it, leave'. I would like to think that a few years from now, SRL will still be around, unlike a lot of other projects, and that is the real goal.

At the first part. Yes. It is smart to avoid the debates. I can 100% gaurantee that being in a debate hating on the admins makes their opinion of you go down. They probably think the same of everyone who is criticizing them.
The generalization is definitely true. The only people likely to like the *secret* rank are those who are in it, and get the benefit. I for one don't really care that SSRL is around. The secret member thing is the stupid part. I think that if everyone went around with *SSRL Member* in their name instead of *SRL Member* then it wouldnt make a big difference. What is the reasoning behind keeping the members secret? It wouldn't hurt my feelings either way knowing who is and isn't. I know I'm not, and it wouldn't bother me at all knowing that other people are ranked higher than I am. They are upset I'm using statistics because it hasn't been accurately voted upon.
51% to 49% is a majority, and it's probably a bigger split here.

I could probably guess some people who are SSRL just by their skill and maturity, and i'm sure there wouldn't be too many suprises if a members list was brought out for SSRL.

The main reason the SSRL member are secret, is because all the SSRL members are suggested and polled by other SSRL members, not only the SRL Staff.
If all the SSRL members would be publicly known, people would annoy them to ask if they can be polled and/or suggested.
This is in my opinion the main reason SSRL is secret.

I don't really like to keep it a secret, and I do see how annoying secrets can be.
The other reason it isn't public, is because it would only increase the gap (if any) between SRL Members, and SSRL Members, IMO.
On the other hand, making the ranks public would probably get rid of all the whining (excuse the word) about SSRL, but I believe that the advantages of keeping SSRL secret slightly outmatch the disadvantages.

Don't say that. Not everyone is the same. A lot of people aren't like that. Take Kyle, for example. He knew the secret and told me about it and now I know and I probably lost any chance I had to be a part of that secret thanks to his immaturity. So again, don't generalize all people in the same group.

Point 3 - Just for the fun of it, bringing to the attention of RM his multiple recent one word posts.

Once again. I am not fighting my warning, or saying that I haven't ever spammed. I know I have, and I know that I haven't recieved a warning before. What I am asking for is
consistancy in the way that warnings are given. Either give all spammers/rule breakers (including staff) a warning or infraction based on the rule broken, or give no spammers/rule breakers a warning or infraction. It's simple.

Well, those links really do take things out of context.
1 - Somebody had duped my account name and claimed i was leaving SRL. My post was to show that it was a fake account and that i have no intentions whatsoever of leaving. As you can see from the latter posts in that thread, had i not posted, people would actually have believed it.
From: R1ch
I thought Zeph and RM were going :o It was Ian I'm guessing. Can anyone tell us what's happening?
2 - It's a celebrations thread. What else would you expect me to say? "Oh, congratulations on the cup i just granted you, glad you noticed it and made you happy." ?
3 - After a considerable amount of work from the staff we opened up a new section in SRL Members, SRL Merch. I had just given it the last touches and made an announcement. Was there any need to write it all out again? I guess I could've just simply wroten "Closed."
4 - Errr… yeah.
I find it fairly normal for a staff member to make short posts when there is no need for a longer one. Would you be able to see all of my posts, you'd realize that about 1k of them would be "Done. ~RM" in reported posts section and "Closed. ~RM" around the forums.
As for consistency, it is hard to choose how to go about it. Would you infract a moderator for posting "Closed." since it's just one word?
The reason I gave you a warning is because you just simply said "i have a quote by him in my sig". I might have been too harsh at the time (I do recognize it) but i see no need to reverse that warning as it does not affect your forum experience in any way, and you yourself agreed that it could be seen as spam. The others were actually calling out greetings to Yohojo, and I *guess* this might've been you're intention and that I simply misread it at the time.
The warning has nonetheless been reversed. If there is anything else you'd like to point out, please do.

Now, you would think that the higher up the ranks you are, the more you should be abiding by the rules to set a good example? I don't curse for many reasons (not for religious reasons, just ethics), but why can't I swear if staff+ can?

Sort of, whenever someone gets a warning/infraction a thread gets made and people read them, or, someone sees the red/yellow icon in your post and thinks "wtf". I was thinking of contesting your warning cause I thought it was an infraction at first.
Whats offensive about swear words anyway? They are just a way of conveying strong emotions quicker and easier - for example "i would really really really appreciate it if you left this thread" as opposed to "get the fuck out", the latter gets the message across more effectively. The whole concept of "bad" and "swear" words seems extremely abitrary and sort of "backwards" in the evolution of communication, if youre going to ban swear words then what about words like "love" and "hate"? They convey strong emotions and can be used as insults too.

I really don't have a huge problem with swearing on the forums. Hobbit made a thread saying they are going to be more strict on it, but you guys are still allowed to? Again, it's a "do as I say, not as I do", which isn't right in my opinion.

But all the swear words have been so overused that they hold almost no meaning at all. Honestly I would probably respond to the first one rather than the latter statement because people use those words in too many situations that don't need them. Basically, I don't think that swear words convey much emotion nowadays because people use them too flippantly.

That "bad luck" argument is stupid. You were just unlucky that you got caught, that's it.
If you're driving on the highway and everybody is doing 20 over the speed limit, and a cop pulls you over and writes you a ticket. Do you complain "Everybody else was doing it too!" (well, you probably would..). The cop can't stop everyone, and the staff cannot infract everyone.

Just my $.02… I'll chance to say, I am probably one of the most Loved and most Hated people on these forums…for the new people, or the old that don't know…My main contribution to these forums, is trying to keep it organized (moving misplaced posts, etc.), moderating posts and trying to keep the peace between other members (including staff;)), trying to insure that all our hard work here is appreciated (making sure that people make an effort to contribute, and not just leech)….for the most part, Love and Gratitude is expressed to me for my time spent doing this….however, the people on the other end of the Ban Stick ,Infractions, or any other number of ways I see fit to deal with the problem, are not always as understanding:rolleyes:….From extremes of people trusting me with their private scripts to test, wanting to give me donations in the form of RS gps or items, or private messages of Thanks…….to personal attacks of my character, RL threats of bodily harm, malicious attempts of infecting me with virus', or trying to hack my forum account to undo changes or inflict havoc on other users…..In cases like this, it's good to know that I have other people that look out for me, and I do the same for them….
I take it all with a grain of salt…in the end, it's just a video game, this is supposed to be a source of enjoyment, It's nice to know my time spent here is appreciated, but I know, that if I start letting the negative things bother me, the remedy is as simple as shutting off the computer and going outside in the Real World to get some fresh air….

What I don't like is that you literally have to be smart and able to script to become a member, as ive been here for 2 years and am still a junior member. Well what I am trying to get at is; I believe you should become a member for the type of person you are and how you've helped others out, not just on if you make a script that there is already better versions of anyway. Please read my post seirously.

It also helps if you are more active, then you better your chances of someone noticing you. although i don't see any negative posts, I don't see any where you went above and beyond to try and help your fellow community members ? I'm sorry and this is 110% my fault
I had some serious IRL issues that day, i don't no why i was on srl, again this was all my fault for acting the way i did. The day of , i don't know if he said anything, but i immediately gave him an apology over msn(myles), which i have no idea if he accepted. I should be apologizing to all of you, every single one of you.
I acted WRONG, and thats just it, plain out wrong, rude, obnoxious, stubborn, childish , immature , Should i go on?
I hope you guys still have at least an ounce of respect for me
Summary ^:
I AM SORRY
Thanks,

If they never had been ? How would this community be ?

Probably about the same. We are perfectly capable of running the forums on our own, hence we were put in these positions.

i shall bypass all the chatter here to rant that i think the admins could do a bit more to appease the crowds i guess. I cant find that thread, but it was created when the boards went back up after switching to villavu. It had all of the things people wanted back from the old forums. I know they all havent been back, or explained why they arent so. I for one would very much like to see sig limits back up. When i say "a bit" i do mean a bit though. Other than that, i think im good.
Oh, and i shall rant against the more staffly people who are annoying as hell when championing Linux. Just saying.

I want to rant that we don't have srl-forums.com.
Not a rant at all, just wondering if there are any plans on getting it back. I almost like villavu better though.

There are plans of getting it back. In fact, the plans were there right after the move.
However, Dankness owns the hostname, and he says he has pointed the srl-forums.com to villavu.com's IP.
Huh, it seems to be pointing to villavu.com now…
Then this should be possible. :)
EDIT:
Nope, Dankness missed a trailing 8…

I'm pissed at the staff for doing stupid shit like arranging some forums into alpha-order contrary to everyone else's previous satisfaction and proper brain function. It's now a pain in the ass to find the latest threads posted in and requires tons of page hoping to find something. Great idea bumping 4 year old threads to page 1 for beginning with the letter A.:f:
Would you mind specifying which ones are currently doing this? most likely this is just a staff-made-mistake while we set up different things around the forums.

The staff are llamas. They're sleeping at the moment; don't disturb them.
On a more serious note, the staff are cool. Maybe they need to socialise more with new members.

It's actually a bad thing IMO if admins socialise too much; as their decisions should not be affected (a lot) by personal feelings they have towards certain members.

I think he meant that good admins don't make decisions on their feelings toward other members, so they can still socialize. That's my opinion anyways, even if it isn't what lordsaturn meant.

THe best admins are the ones who socialize alot, get to know their members, and members from other sites. They would then use the combined dicussions with admins, regular members, fans, protestors to help make the long dubbed "good decisions".

If they are swayed by emotion and not logic then perhaps they should not be admins in the first place and it reflects poor judgment on the other staff for ever electing them ;)
