it all depends on personal preferance
i like Windows becuase i have used it all my life
i know Wizzup? likes ubuntu(linux)
but i want a mac to see what its like

if your on about scar scripting then you will want to have Windows as Scar is written in Delphi which is only supported in Windows (or linux if you have WINE (but even then its slow))

Windows XP is fast for me, and gets the job done for what I do. (IRC, Programming, Gaming, etc.)

Though, Linux does have many good traits.

And Shuttleu, all Mac is, is just a non-free copy of Unix :)

i want one because they are expensive and they have nice bright vibrant glossy screens
and when i have something expensive it makes me feel more rich and makes people in my school think that im rich too XD

The only thing different between Mac and Linux is that Mac is just eye-candy :/

That image is not 100% accurate, but it is mostly true.

Windows Vista works very good too, and I have had no problems with it.

Also, the game

It doesn't matter about the OS, it depends on the Processor

Yes that is true, and your ram aswell becuase scar with smart takes up around 150-160MB for me

It does, to some extent, if you're using relatively low-end equipment. Some operating systems require more resources to run than others, so if you don't have all that much to work with to start, you want an OS that uses as little as possible.

True, but I bet a lot of the people here have out of the box computers that has everything already. I'm custom building my new one :)

Good for you, but it's not your processor, it's your total system resources available to the OS…

Anyways, I am Windows/Linux user. Favoring Windows because of gaming and fixing other machines.

I totally agree with that.

The Mac is ultimate for graphic design and editing (not to say you can't do any of that on a Window/Linux machine); however the availability of other programs being used is quite limited.

The Microsoft Windows machines carry one of the largest selections of possible software/game options. That means that there is are not too many limitations to what can be done. Programs like Adobe Photoshop and Fireworks ensures quality graphics manipulation; however not the best. Windows computers are limited (like most computers) by by their processing capabilities: hardware (CPU, Motherboard, Graphics Card, RAM) and/or reliable software (XP vs Vista (with service pack 1..) but that is a whole different conversation).

The Linux system in my opinion is the most capable at processing capacity. Using a Linux Daisy Chain, it is possible to connect multiple motherboards together and create a super computer. Even if you were to have a Windows machine with the quadcore processor 12g of ram, and two cross-wired graphics cards… it would stand little of a chance against a computer running off of … say forty (yes 40… it has been done) motherboards/cpus connected and running as one beautiful system.

All in all… It depends on what you want… if you really need to connect a bunch of computers together to make a super computer… just to run SCAR… then I really have no idea what version of SCAR you are running… because my single computer can handle just fine.

Virtually this is a jist:

Mac - graphics (picture) user/designer
Windows - average person wanting to basically get around.
Linux - different look.. but capable of so so much (not windows software though)

If you want a fast computer … CPU++ and RAM +++
