How Long have You Played Runescape?
6 Year(s)

Are you affilated in anyway with Jagex LTD?
No

Were you Referred to SRL?
Wizzup?

What is your general programming knowledge?
All that I know is SRL, but I'm starting a class in Java and have access to learning HTML.

Are you a member of any other communities?
Other than SRL, I'm a member of the Freddy1990 forums, though I use the SRL forums a lot more.

Tell us about yourself…
From: zeeky111
I have played RuneScape since I was in the third grade (currently a HS freshman), and I used SCAR back in 2004 up until '05, and just recently started again. I've used SCAR in many school projects, but that has been mainly just pointing and clicking. I started getting more into SRL, and I've gone through several tutorials. I want to be an SRL member so that I can help others with scripting and, at the same time, learn more myself.

Please show us one (or multiple) of your scripts.

Sorry mate, way to simple. And it can all be shortened to way less lines.
No from me. Make a proper script (instead of just 2 functions) with walking, banking, (D)DTM's/BMP's, TPA's and then re-apply in 1 month.

Your whole compass determining procedures could be completely taken out. All you need it MakeCompass(WhatDirection). So that takes 50 lines off the script with the same end result.

this:

procedure FixAngleHigh;
begin
Wait(250+random(500));
SetAngle(True);
end;
procedure FixAngleLow;
begin
Wait(250+random(500));
SetAngle(False);
end;

Could be shortened to this:

procedure FixAngle(high: Boolean);
begin
Wait(250+random(500));
SetAngle(high);
end;

Then you don't need 2 procedures. Then to get rid of the DetermineAngle procedure, you could just have the user put true or false for the constant instead and send that as the parameter to the FixAngle proc.

So your whole compass thing could be shortened to just a few lines actually… :p

No from me, sorry. Too simple and too much unecessary code

To 1 line tbh;

MakeCompass(WhatDirection);

Sorry bud, its a no.

Try to make the script accomplish a task ;)

Sorry, too simple. Try thinking about what you really need in rs, then ,making a script for it. There's some great tuts out there, and try to include (d)dtms, tpas, walking, antiban, and antirandoms in your next app.

It is too simple. If you include some DTMS (or DDTMs), TPAs, etc. then probably. However, you will not get a vote for me because I am not supposed to vote until like three weeks after I become member. :p

Edit: Also, antirandoms are a must. Even if they do not work right now (not sure of the current status, never auto). Antiban isn't always necessarily always needed but it is good to have.

This is a great start to your coding career zeeky, and these are great functions, but maybe you should try using them in a fashion to accomplish a task in runescape, such as a skill.

A couple suggestions
  • Try reviewing your standards a bit more, they are almost perfect. For me and many others, standards is a necessity for applications as it makes your code easily readable and simply to follow.
  • Check out MakeCompass in core/MapWalk.scar
  • You could shorten your code by using paramaters, check them out in the beginner's tutorials section.
  • e.g. function DetermineAngle(Dir: string): Boolean;

It's a no from me this time, but I look forward to seeing more from you soon. :)

no. you have good standards but we are looking for scripts that actually do something.
Just a single function is not enough, except if its something uber leet that only few could do.

Make a woodcutter, powerminer, fighter or something simple like that.

Things you should/must use in order to get it:
- DTM
- TPA
- Accurate walking is a great plus (only radialwalk()s without failsafes is useless though)
- Multiplayer script

i wana know who voted yes tbh….
this is a joke,(not trying to be harsh), could take anybody about 2 minutes….
no……:duh:

Wizzup?

This is a good start, man. :)
I like your attitude, but the script is lacking a bit. Like Nava2 and LordSaturn said, it is nice if a script accomplishes some task, so you can also send us a progress report.

MakeCompass();

SetAngle();

DepositAll;

hehe, good work though, at least you understand scripting a lil ;) I suggest looking though all of SRL.Scar ( that's what I did :p ) It really helps you get the feel for all the cool functions and procedures we got in there :) Then play around with trying to make a few small scripts ( make sure to add the players[] array and auto logging in ;) )

Good luck!

I am sorry, but it seems like you won't make it this time. However you are on the right way, and should not give up. I'll close your application now that input has already been given, which will allow you to apply sonner than if i closed it later. Good luck.
