What does MSI need?

Since MSI is still kinda in hibernation, we have two script project that are kind of half-assedly being worked on; what does MSI need to get going?
Yes, I know I'm the leader and why should you have to do work, but I'm curious as to what everyone would like to see. I know in general we just need more support and people who're excited about MSI but what can we do?
What do you want to see happen, what do you think would be good for MSI?
I'm working on a setting up a script project to build a tutorial island runner, yes I know we have project in progress but what I really think needs to happen is MSI needs a script that represents what MSI is.
Please let me know any suggestions or questions you have, I'm really hoping to get people involved and get MSI going again. I can only do it with all of you.

i think we should make a script for a skill that doesn't have a good script for it and never has. Ex: farmer script, Hunter Script, maybe an all agility course script, just a p0wnage script that has never really been made or attempted.

That could be a good idea, the only problem with that is getting Members accounts. Personally I don't pay for members, but getting a team together to do something like that would be phenomenal!
You could do the agility course on karamaja maybe?

I think it needs a good logo!
If only someone would start a thread looking for one….

Hmmmm… whoever would start a thread like that would have to be some kind of genius bent on world domination! :p

That would really increase the interest in MSI, people around here are always looking for the elusive cups!
I support the MSI cup. Would definitely get me more involved.

Perhaps you guys should create something first before I start handing out cups…? ;)

You should advertise more about MSI and explain what it is

I agree I was thinking once we start getting some output from MSI it would be cool to have a cup or title or something for people who worked on a finished project. It's not really up to me, but I'll try and work on it if we get some work done.

I agree with yourock12345, a script which can be split up into completely different sections, like a tutorial island runner, or an agility course runner, would probably be a good start. Personally, I favor the agility course runner…. *Desperately needs a skill cape* xD
Edit: Just saw the discussion about the cup… I can only agree… *Desperately needs a cup as well as a skill cape* :D :D

I'd like an extra cup ;)
I suggest something that will work over a large area (like the Varrock Pwner that failed), and maybe more interest would be had if the project was maybe an invite-available for by Junior Members?

actually i think MSI needs a tut on how to co-script and needs a steay structure for it's scripts.
For example, for the Varrock Pwner it was difficult to combine bits and pieces everyone did because there was no set structure to it.

A project that can easily be scripted in groups with a set outline of how things interact would be nice. It doesn't have to be for Runescape at all I think - yakman's Scar IRC bot was a good example of how a "group" script could be done where as a person makes a base then ti gets passed around for extra functionality and the like.
Lastly, I think the incentive for work should not be reward, but experience and challenge. To hand cups out for writing a small part of a large script makes it seem like less deserving of a cup, but that's what it is in the end. Maybe a cup for people who demonstrate teamwork above what is expected of them and the like.

Make guidelines for how to script co-op and i join ;D

MSI should not write a tut runner, a single person can write that :).
MSI should work on something like the multi-city thing, or a multi-chopper/miner. Something along those lines.
You can use Wizzup's Multi-Miners type to work with.

Haha, no we should do multi-city capabilities for mining, woodcutting, etc. This would make an incentive to join to make one script that will own everything else!

I don't think it's enough that the project be big and take a long time to create (like a general "do-stuff-around-this-city" type script). Many talented members would probably join if the project was at least a bit challenging, but I can't thing of anything challenging that could be group-scripted. I know if someone has an idea, they'd post it, but: any ideas?

Just look at how MSI has done in the past with large scripts and you'll begin to see why this won't work. MSI really needs something that will challenge the members yet also be manageable and realistic so something will actually come out of the process besides wasted time.

When scripting for MSI the scripter should add ALOT of comments, what theyr functions do, what each parameter means and explain everything very well so

We should organize it more.
First step something like a MSI IRC channel?

I have a ton of code from before when I worked on a Karamja Fisher, maybe you can put that to some use (credits for finding his parts to footballjds)
