SRL Members Application Poll Suggestion

There should be a rule put into place where you must state why you vote no. Even if it means you are agreeing with someone else.

To enforce this, simply make the votes shown. Since it's an option when you create a poll it shouldn't be too hard to implement.

If the system is supposed to be annonymous then disregard my idea :)

The system is supposed to be Anonymous, so people do not feel urged to vote differently because their friend "voted that way".

I agree with you Nava.

I have always thought this. If you vote no on an app and don't give a reason, how is the applicant going to know what to fix on their next app to change your mind, and to ultimately make them a better scripter/make their script better.

A long, detailed report shouldn't be required (but is nice), but at least point out a few things wrong with the script so the person can get better.

I think I should feel at liberty to tell them why I voted no or not.

Agree with Nava2..

Would it a lot more fair..

What you voted should remain hidden however its just common courtesy to explain your reasons and every member should do it when voting.

I only posted this because I became frustrated when I got 'no' votes and no reason behind them.

Its just sooooo frustrating :p

Hmmm, I agree with Nava2… People who have voted "no" should have to explain themselves… I always do. The least you can say is who you are, and quote someone who also voted "no" and say "this person has already said pretty much everything I have to say". ;)

I agree with Zeph, Bob and Harry

It should be anonymous, and if there is any real problem we can look it up anyways.

I think it should stay anonymous, because for example I voted No at Hobbit's little brother application, and if Hobbit could see it directly I wouldn't like it :p.(he still has mod powers)

Don't kill meh :(

How about having the option to make your post visible to the public or visible only to the thread creator (the applicant)? Then, to make it more effective, have a requirement to post if you vote (basically to vote you must post). This way, there would be no pressure from other members, seeing as you could just make the post private between you and the applicant, yet the applicant would understand why people vote no.

If that's even possible to do ^_^

EDIT: I HAS SOLVED THE BROTHER MYSTERY!

Maybe Hermpie figured Hobbit added that little bit where the applicant said 'ooo000o, my brother'? :)

EDIT2: Meh, then again Hermpie said 'little brother', and there's no way you can tell it's the guy's little brother. I phail :D

If you get someone to write a vBulletin hack its possible but we aren't going to take the time to do it.

Also that is a very possible answer :p

You can't make the posts confidential between the applicant and the judge, if you do that then valid points people make could go unnoticed by other members. Learning and judging is best done as a collaborative effort whether or not everyone collaborates.

True, but my suggestion wasn't to make all posts private. Hopefully (and most likely, in my opinion) most people would continue to make their post viewable by everyone. The select few that decide to make it private would be the ones that usually don't post at all. Better that at least the applicant learn than nobody at all, right?

Either way, I guess it's not going to happen :\

Just because something might not happen doesn't mean you can't discuss it. Discussion breeds ideas. I think that if you gave that option more people would use it that you'd suspect, and those who used to post openly might use that option instead.

I think forcing people to post publicly if they're going to post at all it better because it doesn't breed a secluded group like the privacy option might.

Oh I thought you meant votes private.

Posts private = no no no.

ditto. Don't let it stop you, things do happen ;)

It just takes time to reach an idea good enought to have general approvement.

I think it should still be anonymous, but people should still try and make an effort as to why they voted how they did.

I think the poll should remain anonymous, but I also agree with Nava2 in that reasons should be posted.

WT-Fakawi

2009-04-23 10:01:44

There is a reason behind this anonymity; suppose all your friends vote "no", than you will obviously vote "no" too. Better IMHO would be a rule prohibiting you to vote on the poll unless you reply to the thread. But Nava2 has a point. But I dont think a public poll would be the answer. This will lead to biased polls.

Yea, I agree why are you always right. :)

That would be like some popular people like Brain and Brian go vote No everyone votes No.

I don't think forcing someone to post would make it better because that would be such a not needed post like : ''I don't think you're good enough.''
