Guys i need your help.

My PC keeps freezing every time i open something that Loads my CPU up. :(

For example i keep playing RS for like 30 minutes if i open something else like, windows media player or youtube or MSN, it'll crash in like 5-10 mins.

Also my PC is Pretty Crappy, but still i think its still not a reason to freeze like that.

MY PC Details:

Motherboard : ASRock 775Dual-VSTA
Processor : Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 3.20Ghz
Memory : 1024MB
Display Card : Nvidia GeForce 7100 GS
I am using : Windows XP

What graphics settings are you running RS on?

Low Detail, well its not only RS, it freezes in general stuff too, but rarely.

It usually happens when i open 2+ things…

Run memtest, see if your memory is damaged… It's a common cause for freezing/crashing…

Dont shoot me down straight away but it sounds to me like a possible cooling issue? When it crashes on the next startup check the CPU temp. THats a pretty common cause of that type of problem.

lol, this may sound weird, but where can i do that :p:o?

Nah thats a pretty reasonable question to ask. There are a number of programs that offer pretty accurate core-unit temputeurs, such as 'Everest Home edition', or through bios. My system shows temputeurs when its starting up.

You could allways attempt to feel if it is overheating, just gently touch the heatsink ontop of your CPU directly after the pc crashes… if it feels pretty hot that could explain it. Please be carefull though if it is overheating those things can burn. I remember once after I installed a new CD writer a dangling cable got caught on the cpu fan, i opened up the case to cable-tie it back and caught my arm on the heat-sink lol got a scar from that.

Good luck.

Try running "SpinDisk". Google around for it.

Also, you can try "SpeedFan". It will show your CPU, HDD, etc, temperatures. Basically what Solemn was saying, only it works while your PC is already on, then you can adjust fan speeds to cool or heat it moar.

K guys, i've made a pic since i don't know which one is supposed to be the CPU.

GPU : 54-56C
Temp1: 35-36C
Temp2: 62-63C
HD0: 36C
Core: 54-56C
Ambient: 0C … O_o

Is this after some use? Try running this just before the computer would turn off, running a load of programs ect ect. The current temp is a lil high but within range i think.:norris:

well, i ran a scan with my Anti-vir… and the TEMP2 increased till to 83C. thats huge, but i'll post another PIC later after playing a hour of RS or anything

EDIT:
which part is TEMP2?

AFAIK speedfan has a problem checking the temperature of 45nm CPUs (maybe this has been fixed? It is still hard to read, regardless). I use Real Temp.

that doesn't work either.
