this will ban a person's Ip address from your site. now u can ban that pesky person who mis-uses ur forms or forums.

this goes in after the <BODY> tag on the pages u want to be protected and blocked from this person or people:

this goes in the file u should name "banned.php", put it in the site's root folder or rename the above script according to it's path or name.

this belongs in that "banned.php" file:

A more advanced version of this would use a mySQL database… It would probably be easier than editing the blocked array

yeah if you own a site isnt there like a thing to ban people a lot easier then this?

Actually, this script is really easy, but not everyone knows how to use a MySQL Data base. So this is the next best thing.

There are 2 much better ways to do this. 1 is the best, 2 is next best:

1. if you have ssh access, type: 'iptables -A INPUT -s 12.147.139.209 -j DROP'
2. if your server is running apache, block the ip via your .htaccess file

You don't need to own your server to use .htaccess.

Depens entirely on the host. If the host disallows .htaccess then you're screwed unless you use a php-script. My host doesn't allow them.

.htaccess is the best and most reliable way.

And what type of host would block .htaccess?

another way could be to use PHP headers to display a 404 error or something…

.htaccess is great, and if you don't have it I would switch hosts unless you really like your current one :)
