Banner Contest.

This is our current Banner. This Banner (made by our one and only comrade c0de) which we have used for years will be replaced. It's time for a change. It is in dissonant with the Satellite skin. So, all you talents out there: Make us a new Banner!

Requirements

• Must contain the text: SRL and SRL Resource Library.
• Approx same dimensions as the current one.
• In harmony with Satellite.
• Same background color to blend in.
• Visual feedback. Iconify what SRL stands for.
• Less-is-more. (But that's a personal taste)

Rewards

• Eternal Fame.
• Custom User Title: SRL Banner Designer.
• Designer's signature in the Banner.

There is no timeslot for this contest as of now. SRL has never initiated a contest like this before, so we will have to see what the response is.

Visual Feedback
I have tried to stick to the whole theme use by SCAR. hence the orange and black theme. As requested i have kept the background colour same ar the original picture, although i can make it transparent if required. I have rendered the crosshair from SCAR, this to me signifies the clients we targe or may target in the future. I was tempted to use reflection on SRL very much but it mage it look too much like a sig and took out the profeessional aspect away. As for the JCB thing, well it was the first thing that caught my eye, the first time i was introduced to SCAR, so i thought it was appropriate. that concludes my visual feedback.

No I'm talking about the bottom text, the background looks fine.

this? I couldnt keep it in the way left because it conflicted with the other text too much.

Though i kind of liked the bottom text because it represented srl's new change to being a paradox.

My final attempt… Spent I long time at bed at 11:00 thinking how I should do it (designing text, shadows, color, font of SRL resource library etc…) all on paper… I think I got a little too obsessive and got really bad for my maths exam…

I'd like this one. if 'SRL Resource Library' yxt was put down, We have a picture of a bull dozer (Light coloured) and you got rid of that little symbol to the right.

I think this is the best so far.

EDIT: Maybe do like 4 winners, which would be the ones that get rotated. Say like WT-Fawaki's favourite, Wizzup's favourite and the two most popular public banners. Then those 4 who win get the SRL Banner Maker title and get the 4 rotated.

Its the wrong size, wont fit into the theme, hard to read, umm i surpose its ok, its just some colors and liqufie by the look of it though….

Make one the right size, and the right color so it will fit in, and a simpler one.

I can give you the .psd if you want to see what it actually is :p…

K for the size.

Right click current banner and go to properties… A screen should pop up and tell you the dimensions somewhere. Or you could copy the image and when you create a new document in photoshop it should automatically have the correct dimensions for you…

Well here is what i'v come up with. Having looked at other competions and taken every one's comments into account. I decided to do a compleat make over with the colour scheme , and use one to match the existing theme. After all that i came up with this.

That coin thing is like the "database" icon. Google Database icon, they are all like that. I would personally google Server icon, it is more 'computerish'

If that was implemented, everyone would have to make a banner that is a set size. Right now, for the most part, everyone's banners are different sizes. :o

Also, "there are copyright issues"? I've heard none.

I don't think that disney (right?) will complain about a simba picture/name being used (it's an acronym anyway). It's SO huge and worldwide that it'd cost them more to sue everyone than they would win eventually :p

I guess if we used it under the provision that if they wanted it taken down we would. We aren't profiting from it, so I'm sure there is no reason to be worried.

Just thought I'd put in that even if you're not using a picture for commercial gain, you can still be told to take it down, etc for using a copyrighted image. And you'd be surprised about adherence to copyright rules.

EDIT: Yet, if you change the image a small amount, you can claim it as a work of your own. ;)

Meh, don't we have any artists here? IMO look on deviantart, someone there will have a piece good enough for our uses, and will be willing to allow us to display it…

As far as banners go, I really really like MK's. I don't think he's ever put out something I haven't liked to be honest.
