How hard could it be for the entire community to pile together and write a kick butt chess algorithm? I mean, the graphics for the FunOrb Chess game are so simple, it would be a sinch to write the include. Now, that would be awesome.. Comments and code below…

Chess algorithms generaly aren't very complicated, they just calculate A LOT of possibilities, so the question is, do you want to run your computer as a dedicated chess machine… or not…

Sounds like alot of work for no reasonable profit to me ;).

I'm sure theirs an open source solver out there… just port it!

That's what I'm saying. I was saying we need to develop an "SRL" sort of thing for the chess.
- Login Routine(s)
- Objects to represent pieces
- Method that refreshes chess board. (2D Array of Chess Piece Obj.)
- Multiplayer Chat Routines….
- Menu Handlers
Best part, no randoms!
I can't find an open-source solver but I'll work on some of the finding. If you want to help, just say so!

making a not crap chess engine, i think, is beyond the capabilities of people here. Making something simple that can defend its pieces would be quite a bit of work by itself, so making something that can plan ahead, to an ultimate goal would be quite difícil.
This might be made easier by having a whole bunch of people working on it, but then having a whole bunch of people working on it might make everything more messy, and dificult on its own.

You just slapped my brain onto a web page.

program KickButtChessSolver;
var solved:boolean;
begin
solved:=false;
end.
As far as I can come with all you provided :p

ok when playing a game of chess againts the computer (like lvl 10 on vista (well out of the hands of any1 playing funorb)) how does that work? surly if we can just amke somthing like that we would be unstopable.

My thoughts exactly…
I'm still on the hunt for an open-source solver. If you find one, you know who to pm!
It would be a TON easier to use the 2d view. it wouldn't be bannable because I use 2d when I'm actually playing. I find it easier.

Yea 2d sounds good. I think porting a solver wouldn't be very effiecient. Let's do this

First of all…awesome! But its too bad that i doubt it would work in this case because afaik, there are timers and whatnot and you cant control the other people's moves. The good thing about his way, was that he was going around in a circle with no time limit.

Then we will use a computer chess program that will make it's move as fast or faster than a human would make their move on funorb, and not have a time limit for it's opponent.
